SO, AFTER ME BEING A FAN FOR 11 YEARS, THE CURE HAD ONE MEMBER I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Thompson_%28musician%29

IT SAIS:

After leaving SPK, Thompson had done a very brief stint with the Cure (a position he got after apparently meeting Robert Smith in a bar who apparently asked him what colour was his bass guitar and Derek replied 'Black'[1]. He only played one show with The Cure, which was The Oxford Road Show in April, 1983 and later appeared on the writing credits of the Lullaby CDV and the Pictures Of You 12".

HOW VERY INTERESTING!
Fatter than Bob, balder than Porl, as sober as Simon, as amusing as Jason

Did they ever think that the Thompson referred to there was PORL?

And here is the 1983 Oxford Road Show featuring Derek Thompson... Nothing to do with Porl whatsoever...

The show was recorded on 03.18.1983 in Manchester. "One hundred years" & "The figurehead" were played instead of the forecasted "Just one kiss" & "Let's go to bed".

Well, that's a kick in the pants! I had watched that video on Youtube so many times and didn't even stop to think that the bassist WASN'T Simon or Porl. That's kind of weird, too. Because he doesn't look like either of them.
