Geez I've never heard of that one before. I'd imagine many people (including myself) would struggle to guess correct. Perhaps the point is actually to see if the person starts wobbling or showing other signs of intoxication during the long pause or something?

Probably they think your mind will wander and you will stand there for 2 minutes or open your eyes and look at the stars above (thankfully it was cloudy last night!!)...

I guess it is just seen as an "indication" and if you fail miserably, they'll ask you to do a blood test. (Btw, the policewoman also made me look at a pen in her hand and moved it left/right, back and forth, this more of a "typical" test.)

You may have an allergic reaction. If it gets worse: off to the doctor. 🧐

Are you two competing?  :)

I have a saying to share.  "Want true love?  Buy a dog!"

PS:  Unfortunately I can't participate in this topic properly today because I am not annoyed yet...

Yeah, since I said he was only topping the chart, because people see he's Admin.  :winking_tongue

On topic: I'm annoyed because dsanchez is annoyed about this!  :P

Bwahahaha!  Would some advice on how to be less popular be helpful?  :angel

I have something annoying to bring to this thread, because I did actually get annoyed yesterday afternoon.  I'd spent ages watching a YouTube video on three different ways to re-tape your handlebars - a job I'd never done before, since I used to drop my bicycle in for service.  So now, old dog, new tricks.  The start looked great, but I got really stuck on changing directions for the horizontal part of the bar.  I had a headache and my mind just would not compute.  After an hour, I gave up and decided new things like that can't be attempted with a headache (and it wasn't the early Cure B-sides, it was probably a dehydration headache, since we climbed a mountain the day before and my water bottle broke).

In my sleep, my mind worked out exactly what I needed to do - it's useful when the mind does things like that.  So now, I have a lovely taping job on my handlebars.  :-)  And it's double wrapped because I left the old stuff on, and looks sturdy, and since I don't do the Tour de France, I don't think it's going to be likely to come off in a hurry.  Thanks to @dsanchez for technical advice and links.

... politicians (and most people) talkin' about cars (especially SUVs), airplanes, plastic and industry (etc.) in the ongoing discussion about the climate, when a "natural" solution should be considered:

QuoteThe protection and restoration of living ecosystems such as forests, mangroves and seagrass meadows can repair the planet's broken climate but are being overlooked, Greta Thunberg and George Monbiot have warned in a new short film.

Natural climate solutions could remove huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as plants grow. But these methods receive only 2% of the funding spent on cutting emissions, say the climate activists.

Great link!  :)  Of course, all aspects are important - natural climate solutions are part of that but won't compensate for the damage we are doing by being wasteful and destructive in other ways.  Also, when you think about it, ecosystem restoration only returns it to a semblance of what it was before the Industrial Revolution / European colonisation / etc.  And yes, it's important to do that, but it's also important to do everything else... (Environmental Science hat on here; and like Attenborough I'm not optimistic about people getting this straight in time - we've already done so much irreversible damage as well... in Australia, it's so much easier to see that than when I was living in Germany...)

I don't know, it should be looked into much more - that's all I can say. (Of course, together with other possible solutions and several ways to try and compensate damage and avoid further damage.)
