I dont like the narrative style of lyrics on Just Like Heaven.
Same here.

Overall I'm tired of hearing JUST LIKE HEAVEN and LOVESONG, because frankly...these are the songs most people mention when they say they've heard The Cure.

You surely HAVEN'T heard The Cure if you've only heard Lovesong and Just Like Heaven...

Lovesong definitely isn't one of my favourites.

I'm just not that fond of songs about love and co-dependency.

Me neither. I much prefer songs about anger and angst, or something deep...but tell that to the modern music listeners...all they want is "I love you, I love you, I love you!" in their songs...

That's why there's two different Cures. There's The Cure, and there's "Radio Cure"...

I love The Cure's sad songs the most. They are really emotional, lyric  and music wise. Like Cold, a perfect song. But, Robert does have a tendency to  put upbeat music to them. But, I love those, as well.

By the way, I don't mean I just like their sad songs. The only love songs I really like are the sad ones-Trust, Breathe and a few others.. And there are a few non sad songs I like. For example, Doing The Unstuck. I like listening to it when I had a really bad day.

I personally find Lovesong pretty impressive, particularly during the more instrumental moments -how the guitars, bass, keyboards and drums seem to layer on each other and work together beautifully.
Now if there was a forced choice and I had to choose whether to hear this song live or another song I may opt for the other one (depending on what it may be  ....Prayers for Rain, The Drowning Man, Faith ...etc etc yes please!) but I certainly can't talk badly about Lovesong, its a beautiful creation in my eyes (or ears?)

That depends, if it's a "Disintegration" set they're playing, it should be in!

In a "normal" festival setlist, I could live without it - the song is good, I like it, but The Cure have many other great songs they can play...

It's a beautifully crafted lil pop number. What I love about many Cure singles, from Boys Don't Cry to Lullaby, is the mischievous quality, and Lovesong clearly and intentionally lacks that. But again, the musical mastery is undeniable.

This thread sparked some thoughts on studio vs live versions, that I probably should post elsewhere on here.
