Disintegration is listed there, oddly.....

Everything seems to say bonus tracks.....
So i don't know what the story is.......

At least, it's safe to say the ones that were released already are going to be released in this exciting new format..

Description
Cardboard sleeve reissue from The Cure featuring the latest remastering, bonus
tracks, the high-quality SHM-CD format, and cardboard sleeve replica of the
original UK LP artwork. Part of an eleven-album The Cure cardboard sleeve reissue
series featuring the albums "Three Imaginary Boys," "Seventeen Seconds," "Faith,"
"Pornography," "Japanese Whispers," "The Top," "Concert-The Cure Live," "The Head
on the Door," "Standing on a Beach," "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me," and
"Disintegration."

Bonus Track: bonus track(s)

CureCrusader

I kinda don't get it. A re-issue of the cardboard sleeves for albums already remastered? Is that what it means?  :smth100

Good to see Japanese Whispers, Concert-The Cure Live and Disintegration... but I don't understand the new sleeves?

If it's not broke, don't fix it.  8)

i don't think these are deluxe edition releases but some kind of special 1-CD series, maybe released in japan only(?).
the release date for everything is the same (2008-03-19) so the whole series is only coming out now - so 'disintegration' being included there doesn't mean it's part of the deluxe edition series either.
besides, the list includes things like 'japanese whispers' which also seem to prove it.

so we still don't have the release date for the real 'disintegration' deluxe edition....

interesting links, though...

Dis is listed as having bonus tracks though, that is the strange part.
We'll see what happens, very interesting indeed.
The format sounds interesting too.

japanesebaby

all of the albums in this new series seem to list bonus tracks, so i assume they are sort of mixed versions between the regular 1 CD remasters and 2-CD deluxe boxsets. which made me think: have the 2-CD deluxe sets been released normally in japan, by the way? or maybe they've had a different deal concerning these from the start(?).

i guess the strange thing is the release date: it would seem strange if they can release this in japa with bonus tracks before they release the deluxe version elsewhere...
i guess we'll have to wait and see.

(one more thing to add to the list of secretive release dates.... who knows when anything gets released anymore?)

What's a SHM-CD?

As far as I can tell, it's a different disc surface material with better optical properties (ie. better read by the laser thingy in the players).
That right?

i think so:

The high quality SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

@Marika

Thanks for the clarification.
I was reading some pretty awful Jap/English translations that made paraphrasing a tad tricky.

What's a SHM-Cd

you gotta google it deeply for info,
most pages need to be translated from japanese,
and there are some threads on message boards discussing it too.

theyre very new, i didn't know what they were either til days ago...
i think the first shm-cds were released in november of 07.
supposedly better sound quality than the SA-CD discs, it sounds very interesting...

The Ideal Copy has them listed now for preorder. The most interesting one looks like 'Concert' which appears to come with 'Curiosity' on bonus disc.

Disintegration looks like it will have the single B'sides on bonus disc.

They are VERY expensive IMO - not sure if I will buy any except for Concert (although the obsessive collector in me says preorder them all now and hang the expense!)

It seems pretty shady. Disintegration's "bonus disc" is just b-sides plus two live tracks, which I'd presume are the London '89 Wembley tracks that were also released on the Disintegration singles + Entreat.

By the way, I like the Ideal Copy's listing for Disintegration. It has "Bobble" listed as a track. Bubble Bobble?

And Kiss Me is just split across two discs with no bonus material at all. WTF?  Maybe SHM-CD has a 74-minute limit like old CDs?

SHM-CD better be a pretty special format, or these will be genuinely pointless releases...
