Title: You Know you are a Cure fan when... ?
Post by: Untitled on September 04, 2007, 07:27:54
Go ahead... this should be fun

You know you are a Cure fan when...

... Your nickname on the internet is the name of a cure song.
... You have two fishes one named Harold and the other one Joe.
... When you wake up you listen to doing the unstuck.
... It is 10:15 on a Saturday night and you just want to go sit in the kitchen sink
... You hear Friday I am in Love on the radio and you crank up the radio but you tell yourself that the DJ is stupid because it is only Monday.
... You start a thread on the internet to see if you are the only one with sick idea.

When "next year" really means "four years from now".

When hearing the word 'cure' in everyday conversation instantly makes you think of the band, not the proper context.

Same with songs and lyrics too.

well, close enough i guess...

i have no pets and i really don't want to have any.

definitely not. most times i don't want to listen to anything at all first thing in the morning. but in case i do, then it's more likely to be something in the lines of the following:
nirvana: breed (on repeat)
nin: wish/last (or both on repeat)
or some electro/industrial-ish noise...

i very rarely listen to the cure in the morning. if i listen to something i listen to something that'd help to punch my stupid ass awake.

Quote from: Untitled on September 04, 2007, 07:27:54

maybe i end up doing it but it surely isn't in the top of my want list as my favorite saturday night pastime so...

Quote from: Untitled on September 04, 2007, 07:27:54

hard to say because i never hear it on the radio because they never play the cure in radio around here.

i wonder if it means i'm not a fan then?  :?

You know you are a Cure fan when...

In my case I knew it when I realized how crazy I watched the "Play out" video again and again every afternoon after I came back to school when I was 16. And that was 14 years ago!

You are a cure fan when...

-the word "pornography" means a name of the album
- you find that HP ad rather cute
- you come to the official site/cof/curefans.com every single day

when you have a live recording with setlist and mood to suit any situation

...and

together with the entire official backcatalogue of releases and as much unofficial stuff as you can get - its still "never enough" ha ha

Whenever I hear, "Trying to find the cure..." I always point to Robert T-Shirt and say, "Found 'em!"

Guess you have to be there for it to be funny...

Anyway, you think comparing The Cure to The Cult is an insult...this one girl thought that Robert Smith on my shirt was Boy George!!!

XD! I'd never be caught wearing a Boy George T-Shirt...he's just too weird, and not in a cool way...

Anyway, you know you're a Cure fan when the name "Charlotte" makes you think of a church...it does for me.

When everything that happens to you you got a song to relate it to...

When sometimes you rather be left alone cause hearing a song is such a personal thing and an emotional moment for you and you only...you just don't want to be disturbed.   :-D

You know you are a Cure fan when..

--Someone types "LOL" in chat and you wonder why the are talking about Tolhurst.
--You have multiple copies of several albums.
--You have a photo of a certian member of the group decorating your keychain. Can't leave home without him. ;)  (Well, for me atleast.)

Um, I never had any fish named Harold or Joe, but I did have a parakeet named Simon Jonothan Gallup, Jr. :-D

you hear some dickhead say "I love The Cure what's that song? Love Cats or something" and you visibly cringe and go on a tirade about how that song was written for reasons of deliberately tryin to break the conception of the what the band was...... like that one...

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE LOL THING!

I'm not really into the whole internet lingo, so when people say, "Lol!" I always add the "Tolhurst" mentally...

You know that you're a Cure fan when you purposely look for sneakers twice your size (because of Robert's awesomely big sneaker...well, at least I do...)

You know you're a Cure fan whenthe idea of lipstick on men seems perfectly normal to you...

You know you're a Cure fan when listening to The Smiths makes you red with rage...

You know you're a Cure fan when you really like the cure...duh...

Okay, obviously these only apply to me...

I like The Smiths......  :D

am i not a proper fan now?  ;) Just kidding, i couldnt care less really.

Ive never really got that Curefans Vs. Smithsfans thing, just because Robert and Morrissey didnt like each others output in the 80s it hardly means i should follow suit, simply as my 'duty as a loyal fan'.... Hey, if you like what you hear, thats all that matters in the end right?  :smth020

Yeah, I guess my humor gets lost in text...It sounded okay in my head but not outside...

You know you're a Cure fan when you can't help humming "Friday I'm In Love" at the end of the week.

You know you're a Cure fan when the code ": smth023" makes you think of Robert Smith...everytime I click that smiley and that code comes up, I always think it says "Smith"!

You know you're a Cure fan when you start eating cinderblocks...okay I'm all out of ideas obviously... ;)

You know when you're a Curefan when..............

You play their music in the car everywhere you go despite children pleading for mercy ( I know what's best for them)
You can't get going for the day unless you have your black eyeliner on.
Your heart skips a beat when you hear a snippet of a song on the telly or the radio or anywhere for that matter.
A cure song is on your mobile phone alarm to wake you up each morning.
Not for everyone but for me anyway, you get goosebumps everytime you hear Roberts voice singing or even just seeing him.

Yeah yeah I know soppy soppy but........... hey I'm entitled to a little bit of hearts a flutter. Can honestly say even after all these years Mr Smith is still gorgeous. ;)

Yes, I do get all excited whenever a snippet of a Cure song comes on the radio, like in a segment on the 80s, they'll play a snippet of Lovesong or something...

And I agree with everything else you said.

all your passwords are Cure songs
the background picture on your Computer are a picture from the band or from a band member.
your family and friends think you are a little strange
your mother say to you that the Cure isn't something for you, because you are weak at heart
when you say you are a Cure fan the people look at you like you are from another planet
when it's raining you think of the Disintegration album

i have a confession to make:

in the very beginning of my "internet life" (you know "once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away...") i actually didn't get this 'LOL' thing at all. i kept wondering why people were constantly referring to mr. tolhurst on every cure board in all kinds of situations that weren't even referring to him, not even remotedly. and then i got even more confused when i noticed that a lot of non-cure people in all kinds of non-cure internet environments kept doing it too.  :smth017
honestly, i took me a good while to figure it out
but i can defend myself by saying that after all, i'm not an english speaker by birth and there certainly isn't any similar abbreviation in finnish language that could have pointed me the direction.
and please note that this really happened a long time ago - really.

anyway i guess it's:

The Cure is definately my favorite.
I have "At Night" as my ringtone, it's a realtone as well.

It goes:
"Unaware of the changes at night. At night." and then the music kicks in for a while.

Some bands may compare, but only one song by them. The Cure is the only band where I can love an entire album. Other bands, I have to pick and choose carefully what song from what album, because some of them suck!

When the mp3 file is uploaded, we just choose the mp3 files @ song that we like to be set as the mobile ringtones..as simple as that..

Good one! My heart does beat faster when I hear them, especially when it's unexpected, like I'll be listening to the radio and the guy will go, "And here's a classic from the 80s, an odd little tune by The Cure..." and they'll play Caterpillar or Lovecats or something...

I get all jittery, knowing they still get airplay!

I wish our radio stations would play some of those songs.  The only ones that get air time maybe once or twice a month is Friday I'm In Love, or Just Like Heaven.  Everyone knows I am fan at work, because when I hear those, that is the only time I actually turn my radio on in my cube as load as I dare, or they are the only CD's I play.

You know you are a fan when you purchase your first pair of tix, and you bawl so hard, and are gasping for breath, you get asked "who died"...

Me happy :smth020
Co-Workers  :smth011

Actually one of my co-workers was a big fan of the band in the 80's but hasn't really listened to their stuff in years.  He kept complaining that he couldn't stand Robert's voice anymore but he eventually gave in!   Now he blames me with his current obsession with the band!  I love it!!!  :rocker

Had lots of nasty words hurled at me too about my sexuality...as if I can't be straight and dress up on Halloween? How is that any different than dressing up as a football star? It's called dressing up for a reason!!!

Strangely enough, I have just SEVENTEEN SECONDS, JAPANESE WHISPERS, PORNOGRAPHY, and THREE IMAGINARY BOYS on mine, but they're like full albums, so I can drift off into a music coma while listening to them. Those albums really run smoothly. The songs change with little notice, and they're all good songs. I don't think either contains a weak song (aside from THREE IMAGINARY BOYS's songs like "Meathook", "Foxy Lady", and another one I can't think of now)

I have Christian Death, Lydia Lunch, The Cult, but a very little amount of The Cure.

I think it's because I'm afraid I'll get tired of certain songs if I overindulge in them. And I wouldn't want that!!! Aaaaaah!

When you have a whole external hard drive of shows,  and it's full

when you have sat through the Judge Dredd movie,  just to catch Dredd Song at the credits (oh boy,  that wasn't their best)

ditto for The Crow movie,  to hear Burn rocked inthe movie theater!

when you had cassettes (yes tapes) of A Forest versions live,  and know how many "again and again"s will come each time!

when you have read Charlote Sometimes, The Cockatoos, The Gormenghast trilogy, A Perfect Day for Bananafish, Les Enfants Terribles, The Stranger...

when you check out who is Banco De Gaia the week you buy WMS!!

when you work out to Mixed Up and your other 200 remixes you've collected (even the bad Gone! ones)

when you cling to every forum daily, trying to recapture the magic of 1989, knowing you probably never will -  (inspire in me the desire in me)

when you've secretly at least once attempted: pushing your face,  holding my breath until I shake, put your hands in the sky,  just looking at the floor, and throw your foot away (ok not the last one  ;)  )while listening to the songs

When you have a customer on the telephone and on the background you hear In Between days on her radio, not the same as my station  :?, you put the telphone down (after the conversation) and you run to your radio to found out witch station has this song on air right now ... And I found it  :-D

i had a bit similar experience the other day as i quickly popped in this second-hand cloths store and wasn't even going to hang around for more than 2 minutes, but they were playing 'a forest' on the store PA and i was so amazed by this (because it's pretty rare around here, really) that i kept loitering around, just to hear the song in its entirity because i fund it really annoying to leave in mid-song. then i realized they were actually playing the greatest hits cd and i kept loitering around a bit more (not because i couldn't hear those songs at home... but just because it felt kind of relaxing and comforting, in the middle of a busy day, to have a good doze of the cure).
in the end i even ended up buying a pair of army pants - although i had promised myself for not to buy anything that day. doh!

anyway, most times i think the much better "fan indicator" for myself is the fact that there is actually a LOT in the cure that actually pretty much annoys me these days and i find that i'm easily irritated by a lot of things about them... some things about them drive me pretty mad, actually.
- but even then i still go and read the news about them nonetheless...

love this question...

you know you are a cure fan when you get your thrash-metal-fan-brother to admit that he likes Homesick.  :smth023

you know you are a cure fan when a scary, gangsta lookin' crowd pulls up next to u in a lowered POS, blasting rap, yet instead of rolling the windows up, you blast Close to Me and continue to stare them down until the light turns green.

you know you are a cure fan when the person u r dating, who used to be a cure fan, is now sick and tired of them because of how obsessed u r with the band.  :!:

you know you are are a cure fan when u not only think of wedding songs to hear, but songs you would want to hear while lying on your death bed, many years from now.

:smth020

I completely agree! I'm a huge Curefan, but I also love The Smiths. I was talking to my friend -- who's almost as obsessive about The Cure as I am -- about The Smiths, and she went on this crazy rant about how I shouldn't listen to The Smiths! And another of my friends, he's a big Smithfan, and he despises The Cure, just because of the feud between Morrissey and Robert Smith. Do we really have such a need to be like them that we dismiss whole bands? Especially bands as good as The Smiths or The Cure!

I can't open my mouth without referring to something associated with Robert, Cure songs, Cure facts, e.t.c!
I have strange dreams about Robert. (in one, he was naked & bald!)
I have various Cure ringtones!
I couldn't sleep for the week before I saw them at Bestival & just stood & stared, in awe,for the first hour when they took to the stage!
I have been a fan for thirty years & I still get excited by them!
I have some of Robert's hair!

When in the gym you're having the best work-outs watching The Cure concerts on YouTube and when energylevels are low and you feel like giving up..you listen the 14min version of A Forest from 1992 and you go faster and harder and then you start to fly because of the unleashing flood of endorfines and the emotions the music is giving you. And you smile and you forget where you are...on your fitness device :1f635:  :heart-eyes
Every time!

And you know you're a Cure fan when you are having the best time reading the writings on this site here or roaming YouTube and indulge on everything Cure related :)

When your constantly teasing/back combing your hair, atleast attempted once a Robert Smith make-up look, (and cringed or just see it as an art form and wear that look everywhere) atleast thought about buying some weird sneakers on ebay just solely because they look like his sneakers. (And then bought some weird adidas ones for a pretty good price actually and then tried them on and realised how weird you are), when you get extremely frustrated when someone doesn't know who they are. When you legit listen to The Cure everyday and when you don't, you feel like your not yourself. (And then play them the next day and crank it up because you 'missed' them ) When your having a conversation and legit any song title or a word in a song title, or lyric, is even vaguely mentioned, you think of them. When you legit only know Cure songs on the bass guitar... When you get obsessed with looking at stars... basically when anything that isn't The Cure is boring.... when you realise that you are too obsessed....

So you're in Australia, on the first day of a heatwave with temperatures forecast to hit 39-40 degrees C for the next three days. You do all your important work early in the morning before it gets too hot.  Guests have just left and in your innocence, you say, "I'm going to air the guest room for a bit, while it's still cool-ish."  So you open the French doors.

Ten minutes later, you re-enter the room and find yourself in an impromptu scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie.  There are flies everywhere - all over the ceiling and walls and every available surface. Hundred of flies, possibly thousands - you've never seen anything like this before.  There's several dozen large flesh-eating blowflies, oodles of those medium-sized annoying bushflies that crawl into people's eyes and up their noses, hordes of tiny little flies with lacy wings, and a plethora of midges, all over every surface you can see.

After the initial shock of seeing this mass gathering of the order Diptera all over the room, you grow freshly alarmed at the thought that they might do number twos all over your pristine white ceiling and plaster.  So you brainstorm ways to remove them quickly.  Fly spray is not an option - you don't like poisoning people, not even strangers, and it might actually make the cleanup messier to kill all these insects.  You experiment with chasing them back out of the open French doors, but the buzzing dark clouds you raise from one surface just re-settle on another.

So you hit upon the idea of vacuuming them all up.  That should work, but it's going to be extremely tedious.  So you close the French doors, get your iPod, and work to music while you stand on a chair and run the sofa attachment in sweeps all over the ceiling, and then the walls.  The midges all get sucked down the vortex first go; the little lacy-winged flies are nearly as easy.  The bushflies require chasing and persistence.  The blowflies are very tricky to catch - it's best to wait until they settle on the door glass, and then go after them.

The iPod starts to play Lullaby when you're back to standing on your chair, extending the vacuum wand all over the place like some long-limbed insectivore having a rather extended dinner - and you think, "Perfect! Yes! This is as excellent as when Golden Brown came on by fortuitous coincidence when I emptied the compost toilet cartridge into the hot compost bin last year!"

And as you're suctioning up hundreds of flies, you sing along, with dark emphasis, to the bit that goes, "The spiderman is having you for dinner tonight!"  Bwahahahahaha!  :rofl

This wasn't work I really needed, on top of everything.  I shall have to organise a flyscreen for those French doors.  But, it was work made not only bearable, but memorable, by that musical coincidence!  :)

@Ulrich, Ulrich - technology comes to the rescue here.  This is what we wear when the bushflies are out, in late spring / early summer:

(https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fae01.alicdn.com%2Fkf%2FHTB1m4.DcPfguuRjSszcq6zb7FXaC%2FOutdoor-Camping-Tool-Outdoor-Mosquito-Head-Net-Mask-Veil-Hat-Hood-Insect-Repellent-Netting-Protection.jpg&f=1&nofb=1)

Bushflies also don't like to come into the house, and anyway, all the windows have flyscreens (just not the French doors, but you usually don't open those in the middle of the day when the flies are active - and this morning's event was completely unprecedented - we've never had anything like that happen before...).

Also I now need to tell you about the dung beetles.  When the nights get warmer, the dung beetles start to breed, and pretty soon that puts a stop to bushfly breeding, because the beetles spread and dry out the large animal manure in the paddocks.  Here's a time lapse of dung beetles going to work on a cow plop:

These beetles are most impressive.   :smth023

And speaking of, this is really naughty, but also very funny, although I don't know how I can possibly relate this without making both of us sound like the men in the white coats should come to collect us... 🤪

Brett likes cartoons and plays and all sorts of drama, and is given to spontaneous invention of outrageous stuff.  Some years ago, he came up with something called "The Robert & Mary Show" in which he ad-libs the cartoon life of a cartoon Robert-and-Mary, and when he's speaking in a creaky voice, you know he's continuing this show.  You'll hear things like (creaky voice), "Robert, the soap is the wrong way around!"  This is funny in our context because we use Dove soap which is curved, so if you put it top-down into the curved shower soap holder, you end up with mushy soap and with soap paste all over the soap holder; as opposed to if you place it top-up, which means it then has only two contact points with the soap holder and the underside of the soap can drain and dry, which saves soap and cleaning.  Brett for some reason (which may or may not be related to Y-chromosomes :angel) has trouble remembering this, and I remind him, hence that particular line...

Or you'll hear (creaky voice), "Robert, there are too many guitars in this house, I can't walk around without falling over the things!  Please build a shed for them!"

Or sometimes, we'll be listening to a song, say, The Kiss, and it finishes, and Brett says (creaky voice), "Robert, go take the rubbish out!" and then (morose voice, muttering), "Not again! I have to do all the work around here.  I'm going to go write a song."  (...thus explaining the lyrics to The Kiss, etc.)

"The Robert & Mary Show" has a lot of similarities with an earlier game of ours, for long drives.  We often switch to ABC Classic-FM, which sometimes has opera on it, of which neither of us are huge fans; but it is really entertaining to provide "running translations" to opera as it plays along.  You'll have the lead male and female taking turns screeching away in German or Italian at the climax of a particular opera, and then I'll "translate" the female part, and Brett the male part, and it will go like this:

(Male:) "Not potatoes again for dinner!"
(Female:) "They are very nice potatoes!"
(Male:) "I hate bloody potatoes!"
(Female:) "There are children starving in Ethiopia.  Be grateful."
(Male:) "I'll put them in a parcel and send them to Ethiopia!  Can't a man have a steak every now and then? Is that too much to ask?"
(Female:) "You don't love me anymore!"

...and so on, and so forth.  Try it sometime.  :angel

...when you have a batch of annoying guests between lots of very nice ones, and you're discussing your dinner-making playlist with your husband (you can't not feed people just because they are annoying, tragically).  "Tool!" he says, but then we hit upon starting with One Hundred Years (and that whole album) and finishing with The Kiss, just like on Trilogy.   And then when they come in and ask, "What's this?" you can put on your poker face and reply, "Pornography!"  Bwahahahaha.   :beaming-face

What we actually settled for was Plainsong from Hyde Park, and a few other selections off that.  Instant sanity restorer. ♥

Your mention you like your husband's clavicle (he has two, like most people, but I happened to be looking at one of them) and he says, "That sounds like a musical instrument!" Which it does. "I play the recorder, he plays the clavicle!"  -  "And now, here's Bach's Toccata & Fugue for Clavicle," etc. This leads to him wondering how you'd play the clavicle. He moots about hollowing it out and putting holes in it and using it as woodwind (bone-wind?). I say, "But it's so much simpler to just get a drum and hit it with the clavicle. There you go.  You're playing the clavicle." He says, "No, then you're playing the drum with a clavicle. When you play a drum, you're not playing the drumsticks." I say, "But if you don't use drumsticks, or your hands, or a clavicle, or other object for hitting the drum, you're not playing the drum either. Just like you can't play an electric guitar without electricity."

And then he says to me, "I wonder what Robert Smith does when there's a power failure. Oh, that's right, he's got an acoustic guitar."

And I say to him, "Please, Brett. He also has a wife. Plenty of things to do when there's a power failure."

He replies, "I am envisaging Mary on an exercise bike, with the electric guitar plugged into it. Faster, Mary! And remember, this song's eleven minutes long!"

(Brett is now hooting like an owl* and saying, "Where is my female?" so I will have to leave it there and get back to him...   But he started it!)
*The hooting thing started because a few years ago we were listening to a boobook owl calling at night, and we were talking about how it means things like, "This territory is taken!" and "Where is my female?"  ...so now that's shorthand for, "Where's my female?" / "Here's your female!" and used to express pining for one another.  Just one of many animal sounds we have adopted for efficient communication.

And he says to you, with a wink, "Guess what?  I've got Pornography on my phone."   On the way home he plugs it in, and says, "Let me Cure what ails you, I know exactly what you need," and soon that marvellous bass line from a live version of Plainsong is soothing your accumulated internal irritations like a warm sunbeam after a long dark Arctic winter...like breathing fresh air in the middle of a forest after being stuck in the air pollution haze of a traffic jam...like some proper dark Lindt chocolate when all around you people are scoffing those nasty chocolate Easter eggs...

You do a coastal hike through West Australian sclerophyll and decide between you that this species - Xanthorrhoea preissii - is honorary Cure vegetation.

You consider bringing craft shop eyes along and a bit of lipstick to adorn one of them on your next hike.

@MeltingMan, I think some of these things are sexually transmissible.  :winking_tongue  ...after all, I was infected by my husband into becoming a Cure fan.  :angel

Welcome (back, apparently), @shel1971!  :cool  We don't get that many people talking to us here.

OK, now I have to contribute to the topic:  When you participate in an online political discussion and end up dropping in a link to Us or Them in to make a point... :angel

PS:  You're in Dallas!  What a great place to wear that kind of mask!  ;)

Thank you! Life got crazy and took precedent to any online presence for awhile but I am easing back into fun. Yes, Texas is a point of political controversy with the mask thing but if cooler heads and common sense prevail, along with vaccines and promoting getting our economy going can coincide we can all get through this. I wear a mask wherever I go and if a business chooses to require one I have no problem with abiding. I have been lucky enough to get through a full year of the pandemic without contracting the virus and will continue my habits to hopefully keep it that way!

You know you're a Cure fan when you have to go to the hospital emergency department and your husband compares with you which you think is the best Cure song to listen to for that occasion.  I picked Plainsong, the live version with the low-down bass, because it's so calming.  Brett picked One Hundred Years because of its opening line, and he said, "This song has so many applications!"

Was talking to a person from Vietnam today re mask acceptance in Western society (something our cultures are having to learn, but Asian cultures already have it from dealing with SARS-1 etc, plus use masks as a courtesy to protect others when they have common colds, instead of generously spreading their contagious illnesses around like people in the West tend to do...).

She said that at the start of the pandemic it was strange for her in Perth because she wanted to wear a mask but nobody else was doing it yet, and the officials were discouraging people from doing so because at that stage surgical masks were in short supply and needed for medical staff, and Westerners were new to the idea of sewing fun and effective cloth masks.  But, like a friend of ours originally from Taiwan, she already had a supply of washable fun masks with all sorts of cute motifs like teddy bears or smile emojis.  One very useful thing about those sorts of masks is that they can be really disarming to people not used to mask-wearing, and break the ice a bit.

I imagine the kinds of pushback you'd get from some people in Texas about going around with a mask on would be pretty unpleasant (we saw reports of incidents here :1f635:).  Very cool you're going around with a fun print; and also the choice of print.  I had no idea people were making RS theme fabrics - or did your sister hand-print these?  :cool

My sister actually found the fabric on a website that had several unique fabrics including a 3 Stooges one for my husband. She lives in Indiana and is a dorm parent for international high school students so she has loved using her sewing talents to keep our entire family and her students 'masked up'. More people than I expected recognize who Robert Smith is when I wear them. :)

When you unbend sufficiently to mow the lawn to the Greatest Hits instead of Paris, which is your standard lawnmowing album - and you find that it actually puts a spring in your step and lightens up a cold dark winter morning (so maybe I'll bookmark it for future gloomy-day lawnmowing).

In case temperate-region people are wondering why we mow lawn in winter, it's because we're in a Mediterranean climate here, where winter is a growing season while summer is dry and has 3-5 months of drought, so you won't grow anything then unless you're going to water it.

And for those who feel lawnmowing is a pointless waste of life, after considering the mild exercise benefits of it - here's an even better thing to do: Set up a permaculture system (https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-permaculture-home-garden-linda-woodrow/book/9780670865994.html), because with permaculture you never do anything for just one reason, and you never waste anything. Lawn clippings are always useful, whether in compost or as mulch, and they're currently going on my broccoli bed to stop the hundreds of volunteer fennel seedlings progressing any further without me having to weed them out. Remember to give a bit of blood & bone to your desired plants when you're doing this to make up for the deficiencies that can be induced by the decomposition of lawn clippings - and to test whether water is getting through your mulch, because fresh lawn clippings can block infiltration (be ready with your garden fork to make holes - and perhaps give your desired plants a good drink, which you'll want to do with the blood & bone anyway).

When you're lying in bed at night musing aloud, "Why am I always hungry?" fantasising about a bowl of cornflakes or a hazelnut scroll...and you immediately follow up with,"The spiderman is always hungry. Hmmm. And so is the spiderwoman, apparently."

Ended up eating both those things and hopefully that will be the end of it. For today anyway.

Ooooh, @Ulrich, that's very good!  :beaming-face

On the other hand, of course, if you're hungry and within 10 metres of a nice batch of hazelnut scrolls, why not just say yes?  :winking_tongue

That argument would be even more valid if you had access to some fresh Brezen. Especially with butter on them.  :yum:

You can go down the road and get those anytime you like, just like we can get sausage rolls down the road anytime we like. The problem is, sausage rolls aren't nearly as nice as Brezen, not even very good ones that aren't filled with sawdust and pig fat. Ever seen a sausage roll? In cross-section they look exactly like your arteries will after 20 years of featuring those things in your diet on a regular basis.  :-D

I'm struggling to come up with a Cure song title to sum up THAT particular predicament. There is no if - and statistically more rapidly so if you eat junk? ⚰️💡⏰

PS: I thought there was some added semantic hilarity to Brett's little line appropriation in the last post, because in the original line "they" means "the pictures" but with the re-write, and the singular/plural swap from the original, it implies that the person saying the words almost believes that the shoes are real... ah, the English language...

It's something about the upright posture, the hair, the serious expression, and elbows held behind the body.

Jason Cooper is in the wrong spot on stage though, and Brett reckons Simon Gallup should be on the right, but I'm buying it because he often gallivants all over the stage and goes to jam with other people with guitars. Speaking of, is that Reeves Gabrels with a toupee? Also, the pink versus purple guitars gave me cognitive dissonance. I was expecting Simon Gallup to have the pink guitar, but if you look at the body language, plus the greater abundance of hair, he's clearly the one with the purple guitar.

I found this on https://twitter.com/curefans - which I occasionally look at and which often has interesting links on all sorts of stuff.  :smth023

Due to technical ineptitude, I was unable to embed it here. It wouldn't show up as an image and the tweet wouldn't embed for me. So I gave up and posted straight links.
