Agreed. Not really my favourite Beatles tune, but well done, guys.

I know I can work my way around it, but before I try: does anyone have a video/audio link which can be viewed/heard in Germany?

Not that I don't like it, but this sounds more like some random guys jamming in a pub, not like a "serious" cover. For a comparison, check how Siouxsie And The Banshees transformed "Dear Prudence":

A lot of it has to do with the bass/drums combination or "rhythmic section".
I remember how the Purple Haze cover was praised back in the days when the tribute album was released. The boys made the song, theirs.
But this cover really sounds like a jam or a rehearsal. Still not that bad, but something is lacking in the rhythmic department. What could it be?

The boys made the song theirs.

Robert made the song his, more like. According to the Join the Dots notes, the Stone Free version "was actually just Robert and Bryan 'Chuck' New", the latter probably just producing. The same goes for World in my Eyes - this is just Robert on his own. The Purple Haze version recorded by the whole band is far closer to the original (as is Hello I Love You and Young Americans).

And I think with Macca's son involved you don't really have a chance of making the song your own.

Yeah. (Seems it happened before Roger re-joined.)

I finally managed to view the thing here:

(No thanks for no help from you folks, btw!  :P )

Sounds like a "jam-session" (a bit like the aforementioned "Purple Haze" Virgin radio version). Nothing to blow my ears away, but a solid cover. Feel sorry a bit for Paul's son, he already looks like his dad.
While I do like many Beatles songs, they still are one of the most overrated bands on the planet.

It has been mentioned before, but I'd forgotten about it: Robert also recorded another McCartney song on his own, which will be a "bonus track" on the tribute album:

C Moon
(Wings single, 1972)

When he isn’t busy leading The Cure, Robert Smith has been known to help out Siouxsie & the Banshees, Billy Corgan and Faithless. He appeared as a special guest at David Bowie’s 50th Birthday Celebration at Madison Square Garden in 1997, and director Tim Burton has testified to the influence of Smith’s music on his movies.

Hello Goodbye
(Beatles single, 1967)

Probably the most successful of all the UK’s Indie bands, The Cure were pioneers of the promo video from their early post-punk days. They managed to rack up an estimated 27 million album sales, but it was 1992’s Wish that put them on the world map (UK No.1 and US No.2). After a spell away from the limelight, 2013 saw The Cure hit the festival circuit to great acclaim.

Album out on Nov. 14 (tomorrow)!

Maybe I'm wrong but I definitely love that song through Robert. I don't think I'd love just the original. It's super cute
