Otherwise besides The Cure i would say Radiohead, Joy Division, Interpol, Depeche Mode, U2, Kent (from Sweden), Mogwai and Air (Run, run, run, run, run... this music is awsome!)

Oh my sweet jesus, Kent! First time I've heard someone who's not Swedish mention them, let alone list them as a favorite band! Needless to say, I love them too, probably my second favorite band. I like Mogway, Air, Radiohead, Joy Division, and Interpol as well, but I haven't heard enough of them to call them favorites.

Other favorites (no order, mind you): Smashing Pumpkins, Nick Cave, Pixies, Tom Waits, Placebo, Fiona Apple, Nick Drake, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, U2, Gotan Project, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Björk, The Cardigans, Alanis Morissette, Green Day (more of a high school favorite, but anyway), ...and so forth. Starting to get more and more into Morrissey as well, ye old Smith foe...

Hard to know when a band/artist you like turns into a favorite though...
