There's a "studio version" of It Can Never Be the Same on YouTube.

There are no vocals so without Robert's voice you can't quite be sure if this is legit. I've listened to it three times and would be willing to believe that this is a demo version of the song, like one of those ones where Robert plays every instrument. What you all think?

Thanks for the link, but...

... sorry, this doesn't really convince me. While it does sound cure-like, it doesn't sound like it was played by The Cure or even Robert alone. Bass is out of sync too, at some points.

TBH, anyone able to handle DAW software and who can play a bit of bass and guitar and keys could come up with a reconstruction of a track that's floating around the web in numerous live versions.

When the Bloodflowers demos surfaced, you could instantly hear that's the real thing, just because of the playing. This one, I'm at least sceptical.

Then again, I was totally wrong when the lyrics for A Boy I Never Knew were posted and I wouldn't believe they were real until I heard the song.
and we close our eyes to sleep
to dream a boy and girl
who dream the world is nothing but a dream

The song is a cover made by a french band named Tightrope
Here their version with vocals: https://soundcloud.com/thetightrope83/it-can-never-be-the-same-vocals

Thanks for clearing that up, fmjews. It's too bad people post stuff like that without clarifying what it is.

I was really skeptical about those Music for Dreams demos for a while but I've slowly come to the belief they're legit too. Doubtless it's because I want so much for them to be.
