I got a call from my dad yesterday, my great uncle has Alzheimer's and has been living in a care home and in his lucid moments, he's been asking for my dad so we are going to see him today. I've not seen him in ten years. I'm hoping he recognises us...if not, still, it'll be nice to see him. Pretty sure he'll still be able to insult my blue hair!

Thanks for sharing Chemicaloverload.  It's amazing how the lucid moments shine through such awareness. Hope you and your dad take care of yourselves, I'd be interested to hear what the experience was like for you.

I'm thinking about a really weird dream I had last night, and trying to work out the meaning....
I'm in an indoor shopping area and see two young girls and an older boy. The girls and boy are pretending not to know each other, but I'm watching from the sidelines and can see they are running a scam on passersby,  I point out what they're doing, and they all run in opposite directions. I chase the girls. Then the next scene the girls seem to be caught... But now they're not girls, they are shrimp (prawns). They are in the front window of a restaurant, beside other seafood (all alive). The seafood are able to talk to one another. Another sea creature (lobster I think) is modeling for the girls/shrimp what they should do: he/she is jumping into a fryer (boiling hot oil), then quickly jumping out again.  Seeming to model for the girls/shrimp that with perseverance they can continue to jump in and out, until fully cooked. It seems this is the hoped-for end-goal.  There is a sense of this being a very positive thing.  A sense also of strong inspiration, but also that the experience very very challenging.
..feel free to take a guess to the meaning!

@chemicaloverload: hope you've had a good day and your visit wasn't too difficult.
Did he comment on your hair?

@chemicaloverload I hope the visit was nice, let us know how it went if you want  ;)

@word_on_a_wing I wonder why dreams are often so weird, because it happens to me too!

Thank you all, it went as well as it could. He saw me and instantly recognised me which was wonderful but he was crying. He whsipered in my ear as he was hugging me 'I remember the last time I seen you, do you?' and he smiled and laughed looking at me the whole time, the best I could of asked for. He's lucid at little points but in his own world most of the time. He knew who we were but didn't recall our names, if that makes sense? I asked him if he knew other members of my family and it seems he has blocked them out, but not me and my dad. He was talking about his sister like she was still alive, bless. We are gonna go back next week and take him out instead of staying there, he kept saying how he felt locked in, really awful to hear. It seems as though the illness has made rather aggressive hence why he's there. I get the feeling he would escape given the chance!

And yes Ulrich, he did , he said ' pass me my clippers so I can that f*****g hair off'....  At least he has not lost that part of him.

WOAW- you're dream is mental, the prawns remind me of a SA film. If I put a psychology hat on (it's not a good hat btw) it would seem (see, already using the shrink like words) your overseeing a situation from a distance and battling your own sense of morality. Then you discover and accept them for who they really are and begin to understand the gravity of their purpose, finding solace in it.

The shrink would then ask you...do you know who you really are inside?

Fire the shrink. Eat the shrimp.

Oh well, some things never change, eh?
Thanks for reporting - I think it'll be good for him to see your faces every now and then. (Plus if possible play him some old music from his past, I heard it can be a good experience.)

...haha that'd be too easy!
And plus, I'm vegetarian so that's that completely rules that out!

Wow I love your guess, but I don't think it quite fits.  ...you probably won't believe this, but I'm a psychologist ("shrink")!! And a vegetarian!!  ...Please change your slogan from Fire the shrink, Eat the shrimp to > Hire the shrink, Feed the shrimp !!

...Yes I am aware of the irony, and should be interpreting my own dreams! In my defense I work with kids, and don't specialise in psychoanalysis or dream analysis :)
