Title: Pearl Thompson Exhibit in Los Angeles
Post by: dsanchez on March 13, 2015, 09:53:00
I've just got this on my mailbox:

Los Angeles, CA. (February 17, 2015) On Thursday, March 5th, Pearl (aka Porl) Thompson, an English musician best known for his work with The Cure, will display original works at the Mr Musichead Gallery in Hollywood, CA.   Pearl Thompson will display a visually inspiring collection of work that he has worked on for the past xxx(ask Pearl) years.  This will be the first solo exhibition for the artist showcasing his mixed media paintings.  Mr. Thompson's new work is vastly different from the older artwork featured on some of The Cure's most famous albums.  His artwork today is oil and acrylic on canvas with intentional brushstrokes and colorful slashes of light.  This is a real celebration of his evolution and will create quite a stir for all Cure fans.

There is a deep mystery around "who is Pearl Thompson" as he remains (remove 'quietly')private and alluring to his fans. He is a gentle soul, pure artist, enormously talented yet humble to the core as he lives in the ethers of his creative process in both his music and paint on canvas endeavors

Pearl Thompson's art was noticed when photographer Lisa Johnson captured his image with his guitar in her tabletop book 108 Rock Star Guitars and then introduced him to gallery owner Sam Milgrom.
Pearl (Porl) Thompson was part of the original lineup of The Cure, which also included Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey, and Lol Tolhurst when the band was first formed in 1976.  Thompson left the Cure in 1994 to play with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin during the Page and Plant tour of 1995.

Thompson and designer Andy Vella are the co-founders of Parched Art, which has produced many of the record sleeves found on The Cure albums, many of which Thompson drew or painted. Thompson continues to paint and is collaborating in various artistic project.
In 2002, Thompson also had an exhibition of his paintings in Cornwall, UK entitled "100% SKY". A book co-written with Sarah Brittain also entitled "100% Sky" was published in conjunction with the exhibition.
"the same passion that infused his guitar wizardry is very present in his art work.  the color schemes and brush strokes are both moving and alluring."  - sam milgrom, owner, mr musichead gallery.

Yep I said something about it a week or so back in another topic. Her Instagram has the same user btw.

Just so you all are aware, Pearl does not have 2 Instagrams, I snagged her old user for my art account.

Does Pearl use She/Her pronouns? I haven't been able to find anything definitive, but I don't want to accidentally misgender them. Thanks :)
