David.
Doubt!!! :P 8) I like the speed of the song, the lyrics and how the guitars sound!!! 8) The Best song of The Cure after Give Me It!! :-D :rocker
I vote for "drowning man" because it's so wonderful sad. I love the suffering voice of robert! Great! :D
Where is Faith?
I vote for this song, it's my favorite song and Smith put so emotions in concerts like Rome 1989
Quote from: bartabasWhere is Faith?
I vote "All cats are grey" one of my all time favorite Cure song :D
Faith, because give me faith and I still live.
The Drowning Man, Its Beat is great and the mouning guitar and lyrics are just great
Your Friend, Curetastraphy
It's between "The Funeral Party" and "Faith," so I voted for the former, to show the love for it in the polls.
i've realy been enjoying the holy hour lately. something about that killer opening bass riff. it sets the mood for the entire album.

all cats are grey
i like the way it sounds, almost ambient, feels like simon plays in the coffin, the sound of his bassguitar is dull but at the same time full and vivid.
i can never believe 17 seconds and faith were recorded in 1980-81. no one sounded so clear, full and 'near' at that time, including expensive poprock artists. mile hedges rules!
"The Drowning Man" ... AWESOME chord progression. This song is pure suffering.
All cats are grey. 8) 8) 8)
Right now it's Doubt, but I go through phases a lot. It's weird cause I used to hate this song.
" All cats are grey " but all the album is excelent :smt035
PRIMARY
Time to rock out :rocker
faith. it's fantastic track, long, but not boring, slow and full of feelings.
I love the drowning man
Faith and All cats are grey are close seconds
all cats are grey
(drowning in a sea of stones)
(from a higher up than heaven
and a harder down than stone)
and also: 'the drowning man' and 'faith'
had to pick The Drowning Man.. but Faith came a super close second.
there can only be one winner unfortunately..
J
The Drowning Man, without "doubt"! :-D
The melody is sadly fascinating, the Rob's voice is weaving, really drowning... SUPERB SONG :!:
I like the drum beat on OTHER VOICES
I voted for Faith, but i love the all album which is one of my favourite with... Seventeen Seconds and Pornography.
Maybe it is because i undestood, the first time i heard it, that i didn't have faith... in this album all the lyrics mean something to me
faith
one of the most beautiful cure song
Faith. It?s my all time favourite Cure song.
Anyway, the whole album is great... if it weren?t for Faith it would be really hard to pick one best song.
faith its a song that every time you listen it sounds a bit different. thats why i picked i love that song
the funeral party
All Cats Are Grey
I love listening to it on rainy days. This whole album is made for those days to me. My first post....yay!
The Sad Song... Faith ... tears, stones, loneliness...
faith! this song gives me hope for my life and I still believe.
The funeral party
Syd
Maybe Drowning Man...that song is full of despair...good prepair before Pornography :)
certainlly the funeral party.it makes me feel just like heaven and is giving me hope 4 continuing the day...
ALL CATS ARE GREY IT'S SO ATHMOSPHERIC AND SAD
and more sad it's the wonderfull funeral party.
I really love the whole album, it's so hard picking just one song caus it's like all the songs are tightly connected to each other.
But I picked drowning man...As I had to pick just one and because it's my absolute favourite cure song at this moment.
-xxx-
The Drowning Man is my favorite...Robert's voice tone is really awesome in this song :smth023!
Choosing between All Cats and Faith is like impossible. I pick Faith only because the live versions of it on Festival 2005 and the Deluxe Edition kick so much ass.
"There's nothing left..."
"Faith," definitely. I prefer the 4Play version, though.
And "The Drowning Man" is f*cking incredible too. So painful.
"Oh, Fuchsia!"
all cats are grey...miaoooo
Faith! The most dark song of The Cure for me! :smth023
other voices.
but much like all of the other albums, it's way too hard to pick... everything on this one is great. :D
I have looked at this poll more than once in the past and thought "Mmh, I'll vote next time, maybe."
Well, it's time I admitted that I'm never going to be able to choose. Maybe if someone pointed a gun to my head I'd be able to blurt out a title -- one time it might be Faith, the next time Doubt, or All Cats are Grey, or..... you get my drift. This is my favorite Cure album, it's pure beauty from start to finish for me, with the possible exception of Primary which I like just a little bit less than the others.
So, no vote this time. :smth020
Very hard to pick one. Jumping between All Cats Are Grey and The Drowning Man. The latter wins by the smallest of margins. :D
Primary for me...
It was my first encounter with The Cure and the song that started it for me. I still remember seeing the video for the first time 25+ years ago, being completely blown away and thinking "who is this?" Still one of the best basslines ever and probably still my favourite song ever....
"The Drowning Man" This song has incredible atmospheric feeling. just beautiful...

Loooooove this song....
In fact, i'm going to go and listen to it now.
It was one of my first songs that I fell for too :)
Great bassline and awesome lyrics as well!

I can't believe that I asked for these polls to be re-opened... and failed to vote in some ... I am soo ashamed... :smth011
Anyway my all-time fav goes to Primary.. i agree with sues777.. the bassline pulls me in every time.. Faith ain't too bad either! :smth023
It's a tie with Primary and All Cats Are Gray.
Faith, because of the beautiful lyrics :)
I also love the drowning man, all cats are grey and primary.
Primary is my favorite with the chanting lyrics (The further we go and older we go, the more we know the less we show."
2nd- Other Voices
3rd- The Drowning Man
I love the whole album, except Primary, which is not as great as the rest.
I voted for All Cats Are Grey, because I like the melancholy atmosphere.
But I love all the other songs as much.
I'm going to be an outcast and say "OTHER VOICES" because I like the bassline and tune, and the way Robert sings it.
Plus, they just look so dang cool in the video! ;)
Faith. everytime.
my next would be Primary, then Other Voices. :smth023
Faith
the best song ever
"Faith" it is.
Although again, I could chose almost any other track on the album, except "Doubt" (a good "punky" song, but just not on the same level as the others) and "The Funeral Party" (a very good slow atmospheric song, but a little short of "masterpiece" status).
I never saw this topic before?
My favourit album, so it's great from the first second until the last ...
But if I need to choose ...
The Drowning Man - becaus off the whole athmosphere ... and Oh I wish I can hear this song live ... somewhere in the future ...
I like The Funneral Party. Its such a sad, melencoly song but it is beautiful. It makes my heart weep and is so nice to listen to. :smth020
All Cats are Grey. I´ll choose that song a hundred times out of hundred.
The Drowning Man. I love the percussion, the ambiance of it, the somewhat frantic-sounding guitar, and the lyrics bring up a feeling of dread that hasn't been matched since by the band.
PRIMARY may be a perfect Cure song...great bass line, upbeat but with somewhat dark, melancholy lyrics.
Other Voices is close second.

i agree, but i think i prefer other voices.
in my opinion, some of the rest of the album is... (dare i say it?) a little boring. i don't think there's enough melody in it for me. i really can't the drowning man is a favorite, or even faith.
but it's probably just my mood today. my opinion on the album fluctuates a lot.
"All cats are grey" without a doubt. I always liked the keyboards at the beginning (like in a church or something) and the percusion and the unforgettable lyrics "I never thought I could find myself". I don't think I need to say something more. The best of "Faith" for me.
I dunno, I sort of like the melody is The Funeral Party.
Other voices...
- bassline -
This is my absolute favorite Cure album, not a bad song here. This is their gloomiest, most atmospheric album I think. My favorite is The Holy Hour, followed by Primary, All Cats Are Grey, The Funeral Party, Other Voices, Faith, The Drowning Man, Doubt.
"All Cats Are Grey." Such a mesmerizing song
01 Faith (calm, cold and beautiful)
02 Doubt (anger, fear, and amazing speed. I don't undestand why is so underrated.)
03 The Drowning Man (cold and beautiful again. Oh Fuchsia! In Szeged, 2005, this song was my biggest favourite. You can see it in Festival 2005 DVD).
01 The Holy Hour (the bass line and bell sound, great)
02 Other Voices (feeling of deep sorrow, but not despaired, the percussion, the flute...well done)
03 Primary (only the third place because it's a well known and beloved live track) ;)
I have to vote for Funeral Party. It's pretty brutal but pure truth.
What is the best live version of Faith ever?
