Title: "Soundcheck 83" concert?
Post by: detlefvonberg on November 10, 2005, 12:05:05
Hi.

Back in the Napster p2p days, there was a "Cure" track going around called "Soundcheck 83," with no other info.  It was a soundboard recording of what sounded like a great improvised instrumental.  Anyway, it's an incredibly good song in itself, souncheck improv or no.  I'm not sure it's 83, but it sounds very early 80s.  (Hard to describe.)  I'm reasonably convinced it's the Cure.  Full version lasts about 6 minutes, according to what I've seen on various winamp playlists.

Does anybody know more about this track?  What concert was it?

Thanks so much.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It is indeed from the St. Germans '83 soundcheck. It took me a long time to realize it, but it's actually a really abstract version of Siamese Twins.

The whole soundcheck is available in FLAC at //www.foreverdrowning.com/torrent. Very bizarre!
