I'd like to see The Cure do Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You".

I think they'd make it their own, plus I know Robert likes Mazzy Star so that would help.

Hyperballad by Bjork would be amazing too.
"I go through all this, before you wake up, so I can feel happier, to be safe again with you".

Wonderful.

Carnage Visor

Lucifer Sam by Pink Floyd.

Do the original some justice and work those descending notes to their fullest!
(I'm not a Floyd fan, but you gotta admit...that tune has some seriously cool gothic undertones)

Nick Drake - "time has told me" they played this song once at some festival/ or tv show (?). It's the song where they got their name from and I think it would be great to see them record it as a b-side.

Siouxsie and The Banshees - "mirage" (they performed this once as well, as a sound check song. It's one of my fav Siouxsie songs so I would love to hear Robert sing it).

hmmm,  tough one,
I think the best covers would be darker Cure interprtations of better pop songs
among some of my other favourite artists,  I might pick

Bjork's All is full of love,  or maybe better: Undo - it's a bit darker
Smashing Pumpkins: Perfect - sounds like Robert's lyrics to me
Kate Bush:  the obvious is Running upthat hill,  but Placebo has done a great job,  maybe Aerial?,  it's kind of a manic- mad track,  or And so is love,  which is a bit like Apart
Yeah yeah yeahs Turn into

Jesus, you picked several songs I had in mind: Running up that hill (Placebo did great on that one, for sure), All is full of love (or Play Dead?), Perfect (or Disarm? Or why not 1979, ey!? Awesome year)...

By the way, I had no idea they'd covered Nick Drake, sounds lovely. River Man is one of my favorite Drake songs, would be interesting to hear them work something out with that one...

Other songs I have in mind are Lemon Tree - Fool's Garden, Mad World (Gary Jules did the cover, Tears For Fears the original?), The Sweetest Embrace - Nick Cave (Barry Adamson), Why don't you find out for yourself - Morrissey (fat chance though..)...All Mixed Up (Red House Painters have made an awesome cover, The Cure should have a go as well...), With or Without You - U2 (I know Rob doesn't like U2, but I can just imagine him singing the first lines: "see the stone set in your eyes", mmm)....

With or Without you..wouldn't it be cool poe.

Im thinking of The Cure to cover Mr.Bartolozzi by that beautiful Kate Bush!

"Washing machine"! :-D
"Thick As Shit"

Lamb - Gorecki

One of the most stunning, emotional songs ever written.
The Cure might make it even more amazing ...
Constantly talking is not necessarily communicating.

Ok here's my 2 cents worth
How Soon Is Now - The Smiths
Never Let Me Down Again - Depeche Mode
Ashes To Ashes - David Bowie

The other one feeds on my hesitation
Grows inside of my trepidaton
Buries his claws in my dislocation
I whisper your name to lose control

yes, yes yes!

what a great choice... billee..  :smth023

iconic songs from these bands and singers.. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THE CURE'S TAKE ON THESE!
David Bowie.. Ashes to Ashes.. hhmm.. how would Robert do this..  8)
VERY interesting. Bob's singing voice has always been his 'talking' voice.. and this is a great suggestion.  ;)
I do dislike to admit.. but I was a 'The Smiths' fan.. for a very short while.
( don't tell anyone)

But out of the Depeche Mode songs.. yes! i would like to hear this covered by the Cure..

Something by Weird Al Yankovic. Like "Dare to Be Stupid", and then Robert can dance about in a silly fashion on stage.

Yesss, bring on the silly dancing! :smth048 Just can't get enough, hint hint...

Mmm, How soon is now...what other bands have covered that one? Except T.A.T.U. of course, blech!

You know, Smashing Pumpkins has covered Never Let Me Down Again...another shameless plug for that band...

Hard to know which songs would fit his voice...How about some Neil Young song, like Don't Let it Bring You Down, or something by Radiohead, like High and Dry (goes too high up?)...oh, and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, great lyrics (yes, Smashing Pumpkins covered that one too...). Perhaps a sombre version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd? Anything Robert! I'm listening!

By the way, have you all heard Robert sing Quicksand with Bowie on Bowie's 50th birthday? They make a great duo.
