perfect blue sky is not real cure song its collaboration with junkie xl that robert did himself only.
it has no "the cure" name on it but it only says junkie xl feat. robert smith. so his name only.
i don't think it is not such rare song too, quite easy to find today.

not completely bad song but not important after 2 listenings nothing new in it.
i think robert chose some strange collaborations then. like blink and so on, not so interesting. i would like to think he had more choices, lot of people probably would like it to work with him, but he choose bands like blink and some not so interesting dancemusic artists, like juniorjack (pretty awful). not bad that he did interest in something complete different than the cure and for instance do some electronic tracks but if he want to do electronic music/dancemusic i think there would be much much more itneresting artists and djs for this. i think he now only show he knows really nothing about that kind of music haha.
just my opinion of corse.

I have to say Spilt Milk. It is not released anywhere, is it? As far as i remember... Important absence in Join the Dots.
Sluvy - one of the wish sessions intrumentals - is a great song, too.

A Perfect Blue Sky is a good tune, but i cannot see it as a Cure song, as someone said before. It is dance musica... good dance music, i must say, but not something a can relate with our band, actually.

I use to love demos a lot! Is there a demo of Cut Here, with voice?

Dillinger

this is a bit cheeky but can someone make me a compilation (in mp3 please) of these? obviously not whats on join the dots (looking forward to getting that) but the other rare takes. i dont know how long ive been wanting to heat spilt milk.

thanks!

A Boy I Never Knew (  ;) )

Seriously, however...

The Three Sisters, definitely. Musically simple (minor chord, right?) yet ultra-driving bassline... Driving, but still with a dreamy nature to it...

Uhmm... the bonus discs for The Top and The Head on the Door (You Stayed, Sadacic, Lime Time, etc) are chock full of them...

And if b-sides count, The Exploding Boy, of course. The ultimate feel-good song, yet left off of THoTD, and only played live at a soundcheck (Turku 85) and a radio session... It's sinful.

I'd also like to hear Interstellar Overdrive (or was it Set The Controls... can't check... gotta run) that they soundchecked at Orange 86...

The actual song title is 'All Mine'.  However the famous version of this song you are referring to is know as 'All I Had To Do Is Kill Her' (due to a line Robert sings) performed in Paris 1982-06-07.  Another version of 'All Mine' in which Robert sings the line "All I had to do is kill her" took place in Dusseldorf 1982-05-20.  Unfortunately, the Dusseldorf recording is cut short and we don't get to hear 'All Mine' in its entirety  :(

Check dimeadozen.org and foreverdrowning.net/torrent for recordings of these concerts.

"I JUST NEED MYSELF"

I love it, it sounds like someone took the early ROLLING STONES and the BUZZCOCKS and smashed them together into one... such a catchy tune, I love Robert's young voice in it, and when he starts screaming, it's so not like him, but still him...

I also really like "PLASTIC PASSION" the demo version, it really rocks. I don't care how embarassed Robert is of it, I think it kicks ass. The lyrics are crude and meaningless, but I like that type of thing sometimes.

"HAPPY THE MAN" is a beautiful song, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, it is really soothing and it glistens with this jungle-esque feel, I imagine a rainforest at night whenever I hear it, so serene and soft like the dead of night during a light rain. Mmmm.... :smth023
