Today, it's the plastic Armageddon. Every time I seem to turn on the news, there's a new story. Makes you feel guilty for using plastic straws but if I bin them all at the same time, that's 100 plastic straws in the bin

Same here, really troubling to see those animals suffer from plastic...  :(

A big concern here too.
I try to do all I can, but it feels like change is needed at the level of communities.  I'd love if more communities (incl where I live) could be doing this...

That is dedication! Amazing. I was reading yesterday that the Japanese have developed a plastic eating microbe and UK researchers were examining it and as a result of an accident, they xrayed it with a powerful machine, mutating it accidentally, making it supercharged. So, science is at least trying to find ways to solve the problem :)

Poor creatures. The kids from the coast here comb the beaches and pick up discarded plastic as part of an initiative to try and protect sea life.

Great! Such things give me hope for the human race!  :)

Indeed :)

Remember when we all though our own generation would change the world?

I never really did, I thought that the end might be near "soon(ish)". Now I'm glad I was wrong!

Yeah, it's really strange, I am more optimistic nowadays...  :)

(I grew up in the 80s, with all this talk of the atomic war being close; religious folk talked about the "apocalypse" - and then people wondered that I wasn't interested much in getting a good job, learning for my future etc.?  :smth011 )

In my mind is a former girlfriend. I haven't seen her for seventeen years
and she doesn't talk to me anymore. It's weird from today's perspective
because I have met her in real life. From time to time I googled her name,
and today I found an article with a photo from her (she worked for a newspaper
until 2016). I couldn't read the text - her face and her smile was enough. I held
my head with both hands and said to myself: OMG, OMG, OMG. I love her...

The religious folk still speak about the apocalypse, my mum included. Riveting stuff. Love hearing about it

Long live your optimism Ulrich, as strange as it might feel, it's good for you :)

Oh yeah, the religious folk can be nice, but the apocalyptic talk gets on my nerves these days...

Sounds like a heavy case of needing to listen to "Pictures of you" (or the whole "Disintegration" album)!
