true. even dull subjects can turn into interesting ones - which proves there is no dull subject at all.
although i can see how all these post-processing options today are something that can drive old school purists mad. ;)

here is a photo that really touched me:

my daughter decided to offer flowers instead of food -- one little monkey loved the game very much... he'd eagerly reach for each chamomile blossom, chewing on the first and then sniffing the rest.

as i left the zoo, i remembered that, sometimes they cage up the wrong primates.

say no more.

that's great. did you take that yourself?

i went to see my little friends today, after a couple of months break. there were three new little guys - completely crazy little furballs.  :)
just really hard to take pics of them - they were like little orange-brown balls of mercury. they might stop to pose for you but only for a 0,00000001 of a second - so be quick!
one of them kept speeding towards me every now and then and jumping up and grabbing my knee - and then it was speeding back where it came from as fast as it could. repeat and fade. :)

yeah they did.  :-D and i didn't even have any food/any treats to give them, and yet they kept coming to see me all the time. first they came sniffing my foots and then they started this "jump and grab the knee!" thing that went on and on, practically until i left. :D
this is the only pic i got from it though:

because it's really difficult to take pics of them. even when you keep your camera on widest angle possible they are just SO fast that they were long gone when you're still trying to find the focus :P
it was just really sweet somehow, to feel their little paws on one's knee/climbing one's  leg :) (even though they had pretty sharp nails!).

but sure, these were full-blood city squirrels. the wild ones here do exactly what you described, run and hide when they see humans.
these were really small squirrels, obviously this year's pups.  i just hope they are a bit more cautious when they run into a dog or a fox.

around here the seagulls have gotten really arrogant, often stealing food directly from people's hands. they just dive in from the sky and grab the food if you're not watching.
i think there are even warning signs for this in some places.

Never seen any crazy seagulls either. Animals around here must be boring.

i thought it was pretty funny too. :-D

our local zoo is located on an island and since peafozws aren't really keen on flying across open water, they can roam the island freely - so youcan basically see peacocks and peahens everywhere in the zoo. they have these signs on a couple of bigger lawns, and they are supposed to tell people that it's not illegal to go picking any fallen peacock features and take them home (that's because of the feathers can always carry some germs and either people and especially their pets at home might get sick).

and as this peacock was standing next to the sign, it almost looked like it was a sort of traffic sign saying "no peacock feathers beyond this point!".
i found it pretty funny.

here's a really beautiful nature photography site:

i've seen brandenburg's work on some magazines before, always liked his style a lot. but never before had the wits to check if he has a website.
check out the gallery page, it's beautiful work.

i especially like his 'north woods' collection in the gallery.

Nice picture JB  :smth023 Yeah same "show" to watch :) I really like to watch all off my free animals in the garden. We have again our frog with a lot of noise and also our bat is back :)

About the bird, we have some extra to watch ... above the birds head there is a security camera and we can chance the direction to see directly in the nest :) and with recording ... so that means I can see how the 5 eggs turns in litlle birds ... ;)

the "double ring" can be seen pretty well in the photo, although it was still much brighter in real life. and at its best it was actually a triple rainbow, there was also a smaller ring under/inside the main ring. it was clearly visible for a while but hard to capture in a photo.
