One month until the first of 4 shows at the Sydney Opera House :)
Lucky you!
A fantastic setlist and I think the songs in the encore were never played live before. Looking forward WOW's review!
Here's last night's version of 'Homesick'

The first night opened with a standing ovation. Compared to the 2011 Sydney Opera House shows it felt that RS was connecting much more with the audience ...though it became quite humorous as his eye gaze would tend to lead to something similar to a Mexican wave (arms up, cheering etc) ;)
The audience is so close to the stage as there's no barrier, so those in the front row could actually touch the stage. (I was about 10 rows back). The venue of course is beautiful.
Now the show itself ....Loved every moment, and must admit I would have loved it to go a bit longer, and maybe that's to do with being spoilt in the past with several encores (which I personally also find helps soften the sadness at it ending).
The songs played regularly did seem to reflect that, and there seemed to be some issues with those played less often (and so perhaps less perfected in playing them live), this was particularly with Homesick ...but in saying that I really loved watching how the band were communicating and working together at a time of challenge too (I wonder if RS and SG engaged in the lengthiest mid-song conversation in history? Haha)
One of the highlights for me was Untitled (which I was awaiting with bated breath as it's one of my favourites) and Delirious Night (with incredible psychedelic visuals) ...I felt like I was losing contact with form and melting into the sound and visuals. Pirate Ships was an unexpected treat, beautiful.
The audience seemed enthusiastic, though I was a little in disbelief to see so many prioritising going to the bar rather than staying (wtf!?). Also to overhear things afterwards such as a young women saying they were sad not to hear more "hits" such as The Lovecats (jeez!). Overall it seemed a mixed audience but I'd say most seemed glued to their seats and savouring ever moment.
I imagine there will be limited videos due to the policies in place. I was behind someone who taped POY on their phone and the staff member walked through the aisle to tell her to stop. ...a shame really, I'm a big fan of taping being permitted (especially for a rare occasion like this in a small venue).
Anyway 4 more shows, closer to the stage from now (row E tonight!) will savour ever moment
...yay! on Vimeo some great clips have been uploaded. Thanks heaps to itsaperfectday !!!

Trading and Copying Commercial releases is frowned-up by the relevant state and federal offices, but there is no released stuff in this anywhere, so have fun!

Vivid Live is a music festival so there are other bands playing besides The Cure https://www.vividsydney.com/program/vivid-live
I added several reviews (some of them contain videos and photos of the gig) in the first post of this topic (http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=9027.0). There was a review by The Guardian not so keen to The Cure, and there was a fan responding to it. Both links there too.
This is from The Guardian and I personally agree with the last sentence of it:
QuoteWe would have been better off without an encore at all, rather than one that had the night and its energy dribble away.
Hence why I think it was a good idea to start with this in the second date.
Surprised that no-one mentioned Bob used the same guitar as in the London Town & Country Club 1991 gig ;)
