Lets my memory be perverted to the uses
Of lying and oppression.
My lovers and their children must not be dispossessed of me;
I would be the untarnished possession forever
Of those for whom I lived.

The sky on that is beautifully done, and the reflections in the ocean.   ♥

I vote they put a print of that one somewhere in the booklet of their new album.

They worked together for a while and I'm pretty sure that is his, in fact he posted this on IG few days ago

A tweet from Robert...

RS Tweet

£53,500 was raised in total ( I read his tweet wrong and thought he meant that's how much his went for)
By clicking on the link to his one I see it went for £5,100

Hey!  They're actually doing a print run of this piece, A4 and A3 - and my birthday is coming up.

https://heartresearch.org.uk/robert-smith/

If they're going to print to demand and I don't miss out, we're planning on getting a copy - this is a genuinely lovely piece I'd love to have up on the wall.  I hope Robert Smith does the cover art for the next album, if he's not having a nervous breakdown already over all the badgering he's getting about, "When is the new album coming out?"

...it's so like the, "Are we there yet?" of young kids in the back seat on a long trip... I'm imagining how annoying it would be if people kept sending me messages to say, "Have you finally planted your tomato seedlings that you were supposed to plant last week?" when I was burnt out recently - it would have made me want to buy voodoo dolls - and it certainly would not have helped me plant my tomato seedlings.  :1f629:

We've not bought a print since this one by Valérie Maugeri a decade ago:

It's lovely for different reasons.

But this really is fabulous, and it's so nice they're making prints!

They're now taking orders and we arranged ours this morning.  Estimated shipping time from the UK to Australia: 6-8 weeks.  That's because they're attaching it to a person who's going to swim from the UK to Australia... :angel (it was too heavy for a homing pigeon)

The tube from the UK just came in the mail and we've had a look.  Really lovely print and we do like the artwork and relate to its symbolism - and have just the spot for it!  I'll take a photo when it's up... which won't be for a fortnight I think, considering we're getting it framed and Easter just started...

The homing pigeon flew much faster than they had anticipated...

Turns out that once I got the print to the framer's he needed to order the chosen framing from Italy, so that was another homing pigeon flight apparently, which took a month!  :1f637:

But we have it, it looks lovely, and the frame suits it.  When I get around to putting it up I'll post a photo.  :cool

Brett was saying to me, "Don't put the print up yet! The photo you need for CF goes like this:  Set the print up somewhere and surround it with flowers and Cure CDs and general paraphernalia, like a shrine.  Then post that photo to the forum under the thread title, Competitive Cure Shrine."  He has no shame.  He'd pretend to be some kind of avid worshipping Cure fan with a shrine, to try to get other people to make bigger and better shrines bwahahahaha!

The print is up, but the weather is too dark for a decent photo - cold front coming through and it's like a nuclear winter.

OK, I took some photos of the print in its place and of its companion decorations - and you can see why we had to hang it in that room.

The one place we had left in this room was a place we used to have a framed photograph of a view from a house we lived in on a working holiday to Tasmania, but it kept fading and we were fed up with replacing it. So we had room for this print.

It may seem out of the way, but we see this every day and it's like another little window out into the night sky at night.

The other good thing about hanging it in a private room is that we won't have to explain to people that no, that's not whale blood or a nuclear explosion, just an allusion to kissing.  (Which is kind of nice because we do understand this, "The universe is so beautiful and I love sharing it with you" thing you can get in a couple.)

Here's a close-up of the best-matching frame I could find it:

Here's the companion wall decorations that were already in the room - a print of "Pensée Musicale" by Valérie Maugeri, which we bought in Hobart over a decade ago, and our favourite wedding picture in a frame friends gave us for our wedding.

This is the wall we don't hang art on because it's already art:

This is Brett making that art back in 2012:

And this gives you an idea of the overall room - we took this photo for the Australian Owner Builder magazine in which we have about a dozen articles on what we've done around here.
