When are they going to announce the date of the concert in Chile?  I would love to see them, but they still haven't announced the official dates.. So, does anybody know something about it?

There's nothing confirmed about this, Robert just spoked about this in an interview. However, is not the first time he mentions South America, and as you know, The Cure have never returned since 1996.

The fact is we don't know if the band will play there. If they do, then we will publish the information as soon as we know (so just keep on eye on curefans.com ;). Usually the band embark in a World tour only when there's a new album (the last tour in 2007/2008 coincided with the 4:13 Dream album), so is logic to think that if they release something by the end of the year, then MAYBE they will tour the Americas. And maybe, South America.

We will see.

Yeah, that's what I thought  :( I hope they do come to the Americas because I will be very sad if they don't. But thank you and I will make sure to come here frequently and check if there is any information about it  ;)

Argentinian journalist and musician Camilo Garcia, has said in his Twitter account that "The Cure has confirmed dates in Buenos Aires -River Plate Stadium- for April or May next year". When asked if this was true, he said that this was "100% confirmed"

http://www.elgonzi.com/2012/12/the-cure-en-river-el-2013.html

Of course, this is just a rumour and as such, don't believe too much in it until we have published the official date in our Live section ;)

Brazilian journalist LĂșcio Ribeiro: "The Cure will play Brazil in the first semester of 2013. The band will play three to five dates -already confirmed- including two in Sao Paulo"

More rumors: Argentinian newspapper says the boys will play Buenos Aires "probably" on 3rd April.

"The English band, a dark icon, will go to Argentina. They will play in April, however, we don't know yet the precise date. However, it seems likely they will play on 3rd April. That day, a big event will take place"

According Chilean newspapper La Tercera, The Cure has confirmed a gig in Santiago's National Stadium for April 12, 2013 (my mum's birthday). The tickets will go on sale on Friday 21st December!

At the moment of writing this, it seems the only confirmed South American countries are Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Hopefully Peru will join later.

We will keep you updated!

Martin O'Gorman from London's XFM radio recently told British singer Lucy Rose that he hopes she gets "that support slot with The Cure when they hit South America next year..."

This is the first time I read someone from England mentioning The Cure's rumored 2013 South American tour. I definitely give this guy more credibility than to the South American media!

Plus, there is history between The Cure and XFM: if you remember, the band played in 13 June 1993 in Finsbury Park at a benefit concert for this radio station (this happened to be Boris William's last concert)

So if someone at XFM radio is saying The Cure is playing South America next year, then my hopes rise again!

Update:

We just spoke to Martin O'Gorman on Twitter, he confirmed us he got the info about the South American tour from COF, which at the same time took the info from the South American media (just like us), which has been proven to be not too reliable within the past decade.

Of course, this does not change anything, but it just means we don't have another source in the UK to backup the rumors about a possible South American tour spread by the media.

O'Gorman also said Simon Gallup is a fan of Lucy Rose, and during a meeting with her, he told her about The Cure in South America next year, and that she should investigate (the possibility of acting as support band). This does not means Lucy Rose will support The Cure, but of course, you never know.

By the way, he also said there's no connection between The Cure and XFM anymore.

Colombia's largest newspaper El Tiempo just reported that although Robert Smith has not mentioned this country in the probable South American Tour 2013, "several organizers are negotiating the possibility to include Bogota in the tour"

http://www.eltiempo.com/entretenimiento/musica/los-conciertos-que-prometen-para-el-2013_12471467-4

It would not be any surprise to see The Cure playing there, after all, several other artists have played there including Depeche Mode. Evenpro seems to be the largest booking agency in Colombia.

Quote2 new articles, from Popload and Cancha General, are now claiming that the official announcement will be made on Saturday or Monday at the latest. Keep in mind that this will be the 3rd time that this announcement was supposed to be made, so be optimistic, but don't hold your breath. The articles claim the delay in announcing the tour are due to the band adding more dates to the tour. Instead of just playing in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, the article claims that shows have been added in Peru, Columbia, and Paraguay. Is any of this actually true? Guess we'll find out on Monday.
