Title: Animated gifs
Post by: iwannashagsimon on September 24, 2007, 06:28:57
I have been trying to make an animated gif (like the one in my siggy--which I did not make) for ages.  With the help of others I have managed to download videos from Youtube and found a program that lets me save screen captures from the vids.   The only problem comes when I try to peice the captures together.  The resulting image is all jerky.

^^^^ See?

How can I make the images flow more feely like a regular video?  Or do I need a special program to make a video advatar thingy?  The program would have to be free and online--prolly one of those generator or wizard things.

Huge thank you in advance to anyone who can help. :D

you should google out a program that makes gif for you. i've used a program called GIFfun but it's for mac only.
anyway, google is your friend.
next, whatever your gif-making software is, you should sinf an option for setting the delay (i.e. the speed with which the frames are changing). if you can't find an option to fix the delay, then whatever you're using is not the right program for gifs.
an example, this will happen if i set the delay for my current avatar wrong (see the attachement).

Prolly not using the right program.  It's something called Cropper.   Thanks for the advice on GIFfun, but I'm on a pc.

Thanks so much for those URL's, even though I didn't ask for them lol. I've been looking for one for a long time.

Thanks a ton for those links.  I searched around and found a program that is time consuming, yet very very easy to use.  Which is good for me cos I suck at computer things.

After renaming and dragging I managed to make this:

Siouxsie's swan. :-D

(It prolly would look better if I had more frames, but it's not bad for the first time. ;))
