There wasn't any poll for Kiss me (*3) so I decided to start one.
Vote for your favourite song from this georgeous album and share with us why...
Mine is "Just like heaven".
Best guitar riffs, great lyrics, full of emotions and a unique compilation of joyfulness and melancholy.
I think it's one of the most represantative songs of The Cure music.
i voted for torture because of keybords, bass line, atmosphere. i really love it! great song.
It's very difficult because it's one of my favourite albums with pornography and disintegration...every song is special!!!
Anyway I choose CATCH, because the melody is lovely and "soft"!
The way that Robert sings this song is...I don't know...so delicate, melancholic, sweet... :smth049
No "Hey You!!" ?
If only tonight we could sleep
Too hard...It's impossible to choose only one or even two from K.M. l.p.
It has got so many different styles,so i won't vote for only one it is a shame for the other songs of it...Next plz!
:)
Exactly... As I said in the "Favorite Song" thread, "Least Favorite" would be easier. Or "Five Songs You Absolutely Detest". Besides, isn't half of being a Cure fan second-guessing what Robert does?
a thousand hours...is a cry in silence...
Currently it's "How Beautiful you Are", but things like this change from week to week, day to day. I can honestly say that "Just Like Heaven" will never be tops for me. I've heard it WAAAAAAAY too many times. Good song and all, just sick to death of it. "Catch" is another that I would never select as my favorite due to it being an incredibly boring song.
Hey You!!! has quickly become one of my faves from this record. when i bought the cd it came without this track because they couldn't "facilitate a single cd with that song on there" [grrrrrrrrrr they should have dropped Fight if you ask me] so i never really listened to the song. I had they vinyl of the album but didn't have my record player set up most of the time so when the remaster was released, it was like a god-send...
that song has a nice "rolling" bass line and the wah wah is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.. it's just a happy bopping song.. i love it...
I reckon the best songs on there are
The Kiss
Why Can't I Be You? - that guiar on there is amazing
How Beautiful You Are-
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
The Snakepit
Hot Hot Hot!!! guitar again
Like Cockatoos
Shiver and Shake
can't decide on one though...
I voted for "Icing Sugar", as I always used to ignore that track, and then fell in love with it. But really, it's hard to pin down one track - I really do like them all. Even "Fight". Even "The Perfect Girl" (which I had detested for the longest time, as the keyboards sounded like something out of The Smurfs). After some years, I guess the whimsical nature of it got to me or something...
Catch is my fave, its just so great and can make you feel happy and sad at the same time...
this poll is impossible. the board should do them in elimination style, so you vote for youre least favourite and then the one with the most votes gets taken off the list and you continue untill youre left with a winner. would be easier thsn having topick a winner from them all.
i cant choose between the kiss, torture, like cockatoo's, just like heaven... the whole album has really grown on me lately to become the current favourite.
It is difficult to decide.
It is a showcase lp really.
Everything from the sweet, sickly Catch, to "attitude overflowing" Shiver & Shake.
I opted for All I Want.
Reminds me of an old gf
Tomorrow it might be different.
The Kiss is EASILY the best song on this album, and I will hear no arguments against this.
i picked like cockatoos because its one of my favourites on the album and i didnt think anyone else would have chosen it, it deserves a mention :rocker
hard to pick one but I love Just Like Heaven. Such a great pop song but the Kiss, How Beautiful, Hot Hot Hot!!! and If Only Tonight all deserve a lot of respect.
pop your headphones on and listen to the guitar strumming on Hot Hot Hot!!! it's really amazing....
"If only tonight we could sleep" for me ...."the kiss" ...
One More Time, followed by A Thousand Hours and Catch - don't like the album in total too much, for me one of the worst The Cure releases...
WELL, "JUST LIKE HEAVEN" AND "CATCH" AND "THOUSAND HOURS" ARE THE SONGS SOMEBODY WOULD SOLD HIS SOUL FOR (TO A CERTAIN INFERNAL PERSON) ...
:-D
Just like heaven is my choice..
Its great to watch Mary dancing with Robert in that song..
So damn sweet..
i love almost all songs, but i'm stuck with 'catch' these days..
I voted for 'just like heaven'.
Great album though, even if the last two songs are a bad way to go out.
However, what an opening, 'the kiss' is a tremendous starter!
A Thousand Hours
a thousand wasted hours a day
just to feel my heart for a second
...gives me chills.
This is just too hard :(
Narrowed down to just 3
Like Cockatoos
Torture
All I Want

Like Cockatoos
such a cool song. i can sometimes have the tune in my head all day after i've listened to it. would be very nice to hear live i'm sure.
I'm probably the only one on here, who dislikes Just Like Heaven.
As for my favorite, it would be If Only Tonight We Could Sleep.
The lyrics are like a dark poem.
A Thousand Hours for me...not sure why, i just really like it.
Just Like Heaven, Catch & The Kiss are obviously brilliant, it goes without saying.
And Torture also holds a place in my heart :smth023
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep!! ...
( not only because i suffer from insomnia :smth011 )
the recorded version of Just Like heaven. awesome.
:rocker
"The Kiss" slays all competition (best Robert studio solo guitar ever), although "If only tonight" and "One more time" come close...
I was soooo insanely happy during the second concert of the dreamtour, in Madrid when they started to play "the kiss". What could possibly top that of, than to follow on with "the snakepit". Such Happiness!!!
absolute favorite off the album would have to be "The Kiss" It is just so fantastic live!
janette
my choice is If Only Tonight We Could Sleep ;) because this song has brilliant lyrics...
Definitely The Kiss, what a solo and what an opening track for an album! So inventive and unsual for Cure at the time. :smth020
Second in my favorites is How Beautiful you are!
Too many great songs from this album. Listening to it again after not having heard it in forever. The Kiss, Catch, WCIBY, Just Like Heaven, Shiver and Shake, and The Perfect Girl are all great tracks, and Ive just recently discovered Icing Sugar being a really great song
It is always hard to make a choice, I love all the songs.
But for me Catch, I have a version on a non official CD recording (an excellent one) and this one is for me so special (I don't now why ... just a feeling inside of me ;))
Very difficult to choose just one from this album - such a great album with so many great tracks. I've been listening to this album a lot lately...
I finally chose The Kiss - such a powerful, powerful song and yes, absolutely mind blowing live.
My other personal faves are If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (dark and beautiful), Just Like Heaven (my perfect pop song), How Beautiful You Are (love the guitar, love the story), and the list goes on....
For me, it's Like Cockatoos. "...and looked around at all the gardens that looked back at her house like all the faces that quiz when you smile" is one of my favourite lines in a song ever. The music is just moody and gorgeous and I love the sound of the "rain" and the way the music just becomes keyboards at the end.
A close second would be If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (of which the version on Trilogy is, I think, one of the most powerful performances ever).
Catch, followed by Just Like Heaven, Like Cockatoos, then...I dunno.
"Just Like Heaven." It's the perfect pop song
01 Just Like Heaven (the perfect pop song. single version is even better)
02 How Beautiful You Are (beautiful song, great and whole story, amazing violin-sound)
03 Hot Hot Hot!!! (bloody-groovy funky, and great lyrics about drugs lightnings :D )
01 All I Want
02 How Beautiful You Are
03 One More Time
04 If Only Tonight...
My favourites: All I Want and How Beautiful You Are
If only tonight we could sleep: I love everything about this intense song. The lyrics are beautiful and so is the guitar. Definitely in my top 10 favorite Cure songs!
How beautiful you are: takes me to Paris of the 19th century
Just like heaven: I will never get tired of hearing this song, especially in the car while cruising :)
I don't skip any song when listening this album, there is not 1 song on it that I dislike.
