Choose your favourite song for this album!, and write down WHY do you think it's great
:rocker
David.
I voted for "Elise." It was between that and "Friday I'm in Love," so I went for the lesser known one. I love this song. It reminds me a lot of "Pictures of You."
"cut" it's so hard.
I also voted for "Cut"!! But I had problems to chose between Open and End too... so I had to cut!! :-D
I chose "from the edge of the deep green sea" for one simple reason. It gives me "the chills" when I listen to it with headphones on. The song is so powerful that it must be doing some amazing things to my blood when it's being played.
"Open"... it simply rocks. The open tuning is fantastic to play with, the harmonics add a great touch, and the riffing is catchy... I also think this is one of Robert's more honest songs, lyrically. It's just good fun to listen to.
Trust. Totally bloody excellent :D :D :D
From The Edge At The Deep Green Sea, when i listen this song, i'm in trance :P :-D

You said it all.
OPEN
My vote goes to Apart, so beautiful.
Open. no comment.
Trust is simply beautiful
I also love From the edge of the deep green sea and Apart
...wave after wave after wave...
i chose from the edge of the deep green sea
CUT!!!
From the Edge of the deep green sea...
One of their best songs period.
i voted for apart
wish have several excellent songs like high, to wish impossible things...
FTEOTGDS - That was easy
From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea, an epic song.
I also love Apart because its subtle tunes (especially the 6 string bass) and To Wish Impossible Things for the lyrics.
DOING THE UNSTUCK... WIND AND WATER COLOURS...
I voted for to wish impossible things
Open

It Really Rocks!!
Trust for me!
A LETTER TO ELISE
why did this close so fast????
I like Open the best though. Just such a cool groove too it and its still very dark.
I can't choose just one favourite from this album.. I am in love with all the songs... TRUST is pretty close to me now... I love the keyboards in this..... and Top of my list.. Open, FtEoTdGS,end, a letter to Elise..,an of course, to wish impossible things. :smth020
Can't choose just one from this album.
I wil say I like everything, except Wendy Time.
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea 100%. It's definitely one of my fav Cure Songs. And the reasons behind it, are so emotionally complex that I couldn't possible explain them. I will say this though, that song touchs EVERYTHING in my entire being and soul.
I can't choose just one; is similar to scatcat:

From the edge of the deep green sea is wonderful; To wish impossible things and Trust are pure poetry; Open so honest.
This album is a masterpiece :rocker
P.S. Reopen polls for new members please
I'd say High. it's a song that gives me chills every time I hear it. The whole album is good though. There's not one song I don't like.
TRUST... Show version of this song is beautiful and fantastic lyrics :smth049
Robert is great composer :smth038
The atmosphere is the best on the whole album. Each song has a different feel.
High is a clear winter night with the sky full of stars. Doing The Unstuck is a spring day up in the mountains. FTEOTDGS is a windy but bright suny day out on the sea in a large sail boat. A Letter To Elise is a stormy Summer Night in a quiet city, or a lighthouse. And Friday I'm In Love is just the joy of riding through a scenic road on a autumn day with a clear sky, the colored leaves of the trees making the setting look like it came off a painting.
That's how I feel when I listen to Wish.
And no, I'm not on drugs. XD
CUT
A LETTER TO ELISE
FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE
BEST THREE!
Soooo easy for me to list every song on this album, but I'll limit myself to -
Open - the guitar, the bass line, the lyrics, the imagery, the voice..."and the way the rain comes hard, that's the way I feel inside"
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea - simply an epic..it invokes so much imagery and emotion for me - simply spellbinding
End - such a lush sound, such great lyrics, such a great voice. I love listening to this when I feel completely over stuff - "please stop loving me, I am none of these things"
And I agree with you Lordsquidy, the imagery and atmosphere on this album is amazing - who needs drugs when we have Wish?
The choice was difficult  because I love so many songs (Apart, trust, cut, open, doing the Unstruck... they could almost all have been my choice!) on the album but I finally decided to vote for From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea. I guess I like it because of the lyrics, they kind of echo my personal experience...
Aaaach! I can't just choose 1 song here! I really love this entire album, except for a few songs that I tend to skip over because they're just too "happy" or "pop-ie" for me (Doing the Unstuck and Friday I'm in Love).
I'm sorry, I really can't choose a favorite because it tends to change all the time for me. I LOVE THEM ALL :smth023 :smth023 :smth023 No voting on this one for me, sorry!
edit ~ I tend to also skip over High, but LOVE all the other tracks on this one!!
From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea, there are no words really to describe this song, its just heartbreakingly fantasic but i also really love A Letter To Elise it makes me cry actually it makes me cry even just thinking about it :smth089
Wish is just amazing its like letting everything go its like just sitting on the shore and letting the waves go right over your head and not caring about everyone else
To Wish Impossible Things - simply beautiful, a very hard choice to make though :smth001
A letter to Elise. It's a wonderful song :)
I think the whole album is great :smth023
Im still with From The Edge of The Deep Green Sea..just lokk at the lyrics. It is hilarious...
Dammit¡¡¡ i's so hard to pick one off this album... it'll be easier to tell which one i don't like (wendy time if you are curious)
The first Cure album ive ever heard was Disintegration, i "borrowed" it from one of my uncle's friends  so wish was the very first Cure album i bought, "Open" it's the best opening song ever (no pun intended... but the first time ive heard "Deep green Sea" with my sony walkman, on the bus back home after buying the casette tape... it opened a door to a different world to me... it changed my life since the very first time... i will never forget.
For me, the song that rescued that lp was End.
I do like Apart (that's the soppy git in me talking there ), but End is terrific.
Open is also great, but once you here it live, the LP version seems pretty weak by comparison.
A Letter To Elise is my favourite...Anyway, Wish was the first Cure album I bought. The story has began... :smth023
I really like a Letter To Elise, and FTEOTDGS, BUT I voted for Open!!
:rocker
Apart - not very hard, for me personally one of the weakest albums that had way better b-sides (Big Hand, Twilight Garden, Play) than album stuff. Apart is so underrated, shame they never played it again after the 1992 concerts, only other real contender is To Wish Impossible Things. Possibly the Cure album I play the least besides the selftitled one.
"End"! Maybe their best post-"Disintegration" song.
01 Cut
02 Apart
03 From The Edge
Wow! This is an old thread and a trip back to the nineties. I don't believe that Cut is "simply not good".
I love the speed of the drums from Boris, the melody, the three guitars (6-String Basses) dominating
the song. It sounds good, disturbing good and it's a pity that this song is still a rare live track.
"Wish" is my personal number two as favorite album.

Me too! Not my fave from the album, but I've always liked it (and I think I got to hear it live in 1998).
Who would've guessed that you can ever find "Wish" in a top 10 of "dark/goth" albums? I certainly didn't! :o

The wife's not happy with me for not picking "Disintegration" but, for me, this is Robert and Porl at their widescreen zenith. "Open" and "End" showed me how important it is to bookend an album, and "Apart" is probably the most under-rated Cure song ever.
