hey wms was a good album (treasure  :smth020). I dont think it would really matter if they ever released another album anymore. I mean it would be nice but i think the most we can hope for is at best another Wish or Bloodflowers. Were never gonna get another Pornography or Disintegration...

i actually agree that it doesn't matter if they ever released anything. but my reasoning for it is completely different: i think it doesn't matter because it's useless to expect an artists to release something "for me", or "for us fans". so in some way sit doesn't matter because it's not something that i can have a say to. this on a conceptual level of course - on the other hand i think it does matter me a lot whether they release anything and what it will be like. but that can only really be meaningfully discussed when it has been released and we know what we are discussing about.

i don't want to appear harsh, but the reasoning that it doesn't matter because they probably won't make the best album ever (or even as goos as the best ones so far) makes no sense to me. it's like saying i won't bother eating today because the food is maybe not as good as what i ate yesterday. or i won't go to see this movie because it doesn't matter anyway since it's maybe not the best movie in the world.
we can surely compare albums and movies and dishes after we've first enjoyed them and we can then say this was maybe better than that. but imo we can't say something is useless from the start just because it's maybe not going to be the greatest thing in the world. why bother doing anything then? the decisions to make an album, to make any kind of art, the decision to embark on the "mission" is  made anew every time. even for an experienced artist, i believe the motivation has to be found anew every time. so every album/piece of art is a different album, every album/piece of art deserves to be given a chance to be born first...

You lot should think yourself lucky.
I am a Sisters Of Mercy fan.
Imagine how I feel

WELL, I THINK VON HAS A GREAT TACTICS WITH THE INDUSTRY
HE HASS FULL CONTROL
HE IS IN CHARGE (HE'S CONDITIONS TO LABELS ARE CLEAR FOR ALMOST A DECADE NOW)
HE GETS ALMOST 100% PROFIT FROM HIS WORK (TOURING)
THERE IS NO BAND WITH M.O. LIKE THE SISTERS OF MERCY
THERE IS A CERTAIN CHARM IN GOING TO CONCERTS WHEN YOU KNOW THATS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAR NEW SONGS...

I THINK ANDREW GETS  :smth023 :smth023 FROM ME!

ALSO, YOU HAVE LOADS OF BANDS THAT SOUND LIKE SISTERS
NEW MISH ALBUM OUTTHERE
THE HOUSE OF USHER, ANOTHER GREAT BAND...

So, don't worry everyone......PANIC INSTEAD!

A washing machine full of broken glass would be better than WMS

Washing machine full of broken glass eh? thats far too harsh..........but isn't that the intro to disintegration ;)

You know, im not worried at all, i think this album will actually be better then the last one and besides...this is The Cure remember, there are always delays, im just thankful they exist, not too bothered about deadlines at all to be honest. When its finished, its finished, have faith people!!! (no pun intended, of course)

figurehead

No i don't.
The only thing i care about is when they are  going to do a European Tour again...
Missed them so much...
'Is It Always Like This?'

don't worry too much about the new album... much more important to me is: when will the remasters continue - no news there is a bit frightening + if the new things take off, lovely, I'd guess no new remasters until mid 2008 earliest.
:D The Sisters wise, well, at least I already was a fan when their last studio album was out, meaning I could buy it on the day of its release in 1990 - not sth. every Sisters fan can admit...

[labyrinth]

The latest rumor about the new album is that Universal has it "penciled in" for an early Oct. release. But as we've seen over the last year or so, that pencil's eraser has been used a lot.  (from COF)

well,
this is weird..i mean they're going to play in Asia..only with "old" stuff?

strange_day

Im not surpised its been pushed back again......
Although these shows later in the year will probably bump it all along, i think Robert will want it finished as soon as they start doing shows, so they can play the new stuff live....
Anyhow, the point is they WILL be doing shows, which is great  8)

Bloodflower

Surely they will play SOME new stuff in Asia.... I mean, the album's got to be done by then, right?

But October '07?

This album was meant to be released in April '06!

....That said, though, I can understand, as any person involved in the creative field is able. Sometimes there just isn't enough time. Delays are part of the game....

I do hope, at least, that it's worth the wait.
Another Curefan for The Dark Christmas album.

Janko

DELAY DELAY DELAY JUST MAKE A GOOD ALBUM!

I CAN WAIT ANOTHER YEAR!!

Weren't the Australia shows supporting Wish done shortly before that album was released?  I think they could still play 3-4 songs from the new record before it's out, and really who wants another tour where they play almost the entire new album and just a few bits from the back catalog?
