Title: Cure FLACS
Post by: vampyretym on July 22, 2008, 02:17:29
Hi there,

I'm new to this great site I live in the u.k and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to get my cure live show collection started I have nothing in the way of cure shows to trade but I have an extensive Nirvana collection of lossless from the best sources shows on cdr dvdr and Flac if anyone was interested.

Many thanks in advance,
Tim

Hi
First of all, if u want to survive among Cure-Fans collectors/traders - u must have at least 50 shows. All depend on wht aim are u strive for. To be trader or just collector.
If collector - than I can recomend u DIME & PPTT trackers just to raise ur collection.
But if u want to be trader. Its absolutely different level of collecting.
Wht I mean is u will never surprise anyone here of show tht u have downloaded from PPTT or DIME. U must search for very-very rare concerts/records.
Just start from collector level, than if u r ready for next stage - onward!
And believe me, no one here will never give u very rare record for nothing...
To be honest, Im not support this rule, but rules is rules. Thts why I'm not trading my big collection of shows etc.  ;) But I  can say tht I'am a 'trader'  :!:

Maybe 10 years ago :) Today you can start from zero.

I suggest you to join dimeadozen.org, there are dozens of loseless Cure shows. Here in Curefans.com we have also some shows, but to access you will need to participate more in the forum. And by participate I mean to help other members with their questions, make your own reviews, create meaningful topics, upload pics in the gallery, etc. So actually it's very easy to get some shows compared to 10 years ago.

That's a ten years way of thinking as well. We're in the free-sharing-spirit era. We put things here and other sites do the same: for free, and certanly, we don't ask nothing in return. That's the power of the Internet ;)

Hi thankyou for the replies, as I'm sure you're aware I'm new to the cure trading, I am however not new to trading, as I stated in my first post I trade Nirvana shows and have a respectable collection, the nirvana trading scene shares nearly everything they have, I hoped it would be the same here, to be honest I thought it would've been.

thanks again,
Tim.

i'm not familiar with the nirvana (snail-mail) scene but simply looking at the zomb tracker i have to agree. that (zomb) is where i've gotten all my nirvana stuff! :)
got to love that community, it looks like it's one of those that don't have all the petty wars who is allowed to have what and other "delightful" stuff like that.
i'd love to think it's because people are simply reasonable over there, i'd hate to think it's because the band is no more.

ps. to get started, i would also have suggested to check out dimeadozen.

Yeh, maybe but I meet an fan from another forum who has a big collection of cure concerts stuff and he have told me about all this rules. But he is a really specialist, believe me  :D

Also I compare with my post's in Request section. 3 months ago (maybe 2) I have posted 2-3 times request for Greatest Hits & Wish demos, and no one has replyed. why?! Everyone has it, I'm sure, but no one sharing. Anyway, I found it...
Tht's the reason why I posted 'no one here will never give u very rare record for nothing...'  ;)

Anyway, I have no claims to this or whatever forum, cuz u know, its personally right. For me its just astonishing why people don't want to share items for nothing? As I said, 'To be honest, Im not support this rule, but rules is rules. Thts why I'm not trading my big collection of shows etc.'

Who supporting me in this opinion - let's create team of uploaders!
I want to gather all very 'strong' traders who has big collections and offer them to share it. But who will go with me??? Hm.. no one! Why? - cuz I see activity of font creating (http://curefans.com/index.php/topic,5457.0.html).
Then how can we speak now about something more... FREE sharing? huh...

Truly yours,
Wish-man

PS: just in case my collection (only '79-'84): http://foreverdrowning.net/fantradedetail.php?id=20

I think your friend is in the past.

Time changes. Things change. Why would I send expensive packets to the other side of the planet when I can share by the Internet even best quality-shows that burning a CD? Maybe some years ago. But not today.

Well, we can't share the Greatest Hits because that's official stuff :) However, just because no-one shared the stuff YOU wanted does not mean that people here does not share. Am I right?

FIRST OF ALL THANK U FOR REPLY!  :smth023

QuoteI think your friend is in the past. Time changes. Things change.

I had trade with him online. We uploaded our shows on RapidShare & just send links to each other. Thats it. It is also trade. Isn't it?  :)

QuoteWell, we can't share the Greatest Hits because that's official stuff :) However, just because no-one shared the stuff YOU wanted does not mean that people here does not share. Am I right?

Ouh, C'mon! Official Stuff. U make me laugh. It was posted on the cure greatest hits official site, for FREE! Than it was re-uploaded on ur forum... here! (http://curefans.com/index.php/topic,2137.0.html) Than why u leave the link and didn't delete it from this page? It's the official material, isn't it?!  ;) contradiction...

Ok. Let's take these 2 songs:

Love Will Tear Us Apart (Original Source) MP3
http://www.thecure.com/archive/MP3'S/LOVEWILLTEARUSAPART.mp3

Pirate Ships (Original Source) MP3
http://www.thecure.com/archive/MP3'S/PIRATESHIPS.mp3

Is this also official material and if I'll share this in future on ur forum you will delete it? huh...

QuoteThere's already a team of uploaders. Did you happen to see the audio section? :D

I'm talking about normal team, who will have special logo, tradition. Even shirt's as our forum has special Cure Fans T-Shirt. I think it is the great idea, why don't make a reality of this? I can organize it all if u want and if in my team will be minimum 10 persons who really want this. Nothing falls from heaven just like that as you know... needs to put some power in this!  :smth023

Not contradiction (actually I thought you mean the "Greatest Hits" official recording). If The Cure publish files for free sharing to all the world, then all the world can share. That's a different than publishing files from a certain official recording without the permission of the band. That's a huge difference.

Same thinking as before. If The Cure publish files for free sharing to all the world, then all the world can share. Then, we can share these files here, as well. No damage on that.

Because that's a reality already in Curefans.com. We have a logo, t-shirts, and also people who record shows themselves and share them for free. We also have people who share many shows. Anyone who want to "join" just have to share a loseless show and that's all.

look, i don't want to put down enyone's enthusiasm here but i really don't understand this idea completely. don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong in being interested in sharing etc. but i don't know if you mean re-uploading shows (that are currently available on several trackers), or if you mean trying to find people who have something new to offer? if it's the first one, there's currently a LOT of stuff up on several trackers already: just look into dime, foreverdrowning, piratebay etc. at least i see no real idea in starting to re-upload all that here, in meagupload or rapidshare etc. and saying they are "our" uploads. and that's why we have the 'torrent links' section by the way.
other than that, it's good to notice that many of the torrents available on dime are the best possible generation copies that are available, so it would be really hard/impossible to upgrade those(!). and to share some inferior copies here would not make much sense because a better one would be available on dime anyway!
i guess that would be my main point.
(and to simply start re-uploading all those good versions from dime here would be just "copy/pasting", like said. so the uploader team might actually have to be called "re-uploader team" them.... so.)

(i'm rather happy with the sharing going through the torrent sites and places like curefans being a discussion board. there's no discussion on the trackers anyway, just people grabbing stuff and shouting "thanks!", or just leeching away without saying anything. so i find the forum with conversations actually more interesting as it is, it does what it does best and and the trackers do what they do best (sharing).
i think david made the point.

Yes, I mean exactly re-uploading + new records, but not only on the Cure-Fans, but also on PPTT. Many new fans recently I meet and many links and torrents are dead. Thts why I want exactly re-uploading team. I have all the shows tht was uploaded on DIME since this year and many torrent's are dead now.

Quotei'm rather happy with the sharing going through the torrent sites and places like curefans being a discussion board.

yes, the same opinion... + it takes too many time to uploading on megaupload, rapidshare etc.

Well, anyway, who wants to start re-uploading stuff - my offer is still actually.  :smth023

Here's all the stuff I've upload to TPB recently:

http://thepiratebay.org/user/uploader1900

As has been said, these aren't necessarily gonna be the very best copies out there, they're just the ones I happen to have from tape trading back in the 90s. If you're after quality control and information, DimeAwhatsname is a better bet, although to be honest many here are just as good as those over there.

On the plus side, TPB has no restrictions on membership or leeching, so you can grab as much as you like, and once you have them, I don't give a monkey's backside what you do with them, so you can make lossy MP3s, edit them with a Britney song between each track, or wear them as an attractive hat for all I care... :)

Hey Chasingwilma, can you hook me up too?

I just want some new shows to listen to. Preferably that Rome show. Doesn't have to be flac, I actually prefer mp3. The Cure is my favorite band but I only have like 6 concerts by them. Pearl Jam is my 2nd favorite band and I have like 80 gigs worth of shows (entire tours from 2000-2008 and many many from before that). I don't get the whole trading scene thing I get from reading this thread. The forums at pearljam.com provides links to all shows from fellow fans that aren't being sold (which is only the current year so right now only the 2008 shows aren't uploaded and linked). Everyone just hooks eachother up. It's a shame really that isn't like that here. This is my first post here because I just discovered this site by googling cure bootlegs. But I don't have access to any shows because I'm not an active member yet. Sigh.

I tried checking out dimeadozen.org but I can't use that either as they have too many users right now for me to register. Such a bummer. I just want to listen to some concerts. I would even pay for them if they sold them.

The thing that makes the Pearl Jam taping/trading scene different from that of The Cure's is Pearl Jam allows taping as well as puts out board recordings from every show.  A lot of people end up taping PJ, not so for The Cure.  If more people tape a band it's easier to find stuff in trades or it just ends up on a tracker because holding onto it in hopes of uncovering some hidden gem just isn't going to happen.  With The Cure, there's a ton of stuff people are sitting on because they can.  Best thing to do if you want some Cure stuff is get into torrents.  There was a lot of good stuff on dime, some is still being seeded.  Also, check PPTT.  Furthermore, start taping.  ;)
