by the way call it nerdy but i can't help it that find it somehow funny that they call they tour "tour of the universe", and then play concerts only planet Earth. it's as if some band announced a world tour but then only played a couple of secret gigs their own basement.
so either it's totally unfair (for instance for anyone in andromeda galaxy - who'd have to wait a couple of million years for even the news of this to arrive over there), or perhaps in DM they still believe that the Earth is a flat disc and that's all there is...

oh, i just found out their new album is going to be titled as 'Sound Of The Universe'....probably that's why the tour is called 'Tour Of The Universe'. Makes sense now.

oh i see, i guess it makes more sense then.
(although i'd still say it's a bit silly (and megalomanic), to name an album/tour like that. i can't help it that it makes me )

it is megalomaniac, but the good thing is that it's a quite arrogant title as well, like a statement, or manifesto... that is just what was needed after all those years of being dismissed as a crappy 80's band. I think they are one of those few bands that really survived...like the cure, u2, rem perhaps.

I totally missed Playing the Angel tour, but Exciter tour date I saw was on A. Fletcher's birthday & they had the venhue partying it up with them! Also, remember the greatest hits show went well, but nothing will beat the Violator tour with Nitzer Ebb opening up. Will Martin support as dj opener, I'd definatly go to that.
may it be me or it maybe you

Tour of the Universe?  More like "Tour of the giant metro areas in the East/West, a few down south, then let's take our money and go home."

You would think they'd want to make up for the cancelled/bad voice gigs in Chicago and Kansas City the last time around.

I'm really not that into Depeche Mode, but I'd like to see them if they played somewhere halfway close to where I live.

I'd say it's safe to say they'll be headlining one night of Lollapalooza.  It takes place in Chicago from Aug. 7-9.  ;)

but imo, depeche mode is hardly a band that's very interesting to see on a festival. i would go to see them if they played around here once more, but only if it was a real concert, not a festival gig.

No argument from me there.  But then the same could be said for several bands.  I mad the mistake of seeing Smashing Pumpkins at a festival in Seattle when i should have made the trip down to Portland for a headline gig.  1 hour vs. 2+ hours  :?  I might be dealing with the same thing this summer at the Sasquatch Festival w/ Jane's and NIN.  And then again if I decide to go to Lollapalooza.

Just noticed DM added a warm-up show in Luxembourg yesterday. Tickets went on sale today, and concert was already SOLD OUT in just 3 hours :?

DM just started their Tour of the Universe some days ago in Luxembourg

And the video projection during "Strange love" is causing some controversia. A sexual encounter between two lesbian girls... I think some of the audience will be distracted of the performance because of that

Some youtube comments

"Oh god! I've never thoguht that DM were going to project something like that. I mean, I can watch that on porn if I want but not in a concert, shame on them. BTW great perfomance"

i don't think the video is really anything that surprising, considering it's DM.
and if it was some guy **** that girls toes on the video i guess nobody would say anything at all - although it would still be just as much of "porn" as the current video is.
which speaks volumes, i think.
