Hi.
I am new here.
As my first order of business, I shall try to highjack this entire thread.
Seriously.
I have compiled into an excel file all of the groups mentioned in this whole thread.
I can't promise it is perfect - you get what you pay for after all...
popcorn
...but I do think this is pretty accurate... I tried to combine, for example, Smiths + The Smiths, etc.

So, time for results!!

829 groups have been mentioned so far.

613 have only been mentioned one time...

...and I shall now bore you tears by listing a selection of those 613... and the one thing they all have in common is that I really like them too... and, yes, The Cure is my all-time favorite group.

Air Formation
Airiel
Animal Collective
Bethany Curve
Big Star
Boo Radleys
Book Of Love
Boston
Brian Eno

Deerhunter
Electric Light Orchestra
Franz Ferdinand

VNV Nation

So, technically, all those now have 2 votes, but whatever, nobody is reading this anyways.

Oh yes, we do!
The holy city breathed like a dying man...

PetShopBoy

...by 24 hours I of course meant 48 hours  :?

Where were we? Ah, yes, Top 57 bands.

Coming in tied at 45th in our countdown, are bands that were listed 5 times...

Dead Can Dance
Fields Of The Nephilim
Jeff Buckley
Lush
Massive Attack
Nine Inch Nails
Pearl Jam
Sigur Ros
Talking Heads
The Psychedelic Furs
The Ramones
The Velvet Underground
White Stripes

Of those, my favorite by far is Sigur Ros, but also please note that Lush, Talking Heads and The Psychedelic Furs are also gems. I really need to check out Fields. Many of the others listed here (Buckley, Massive, NIN, PJ, Ramones, Stripes) are all "great music" that I frankly can't stand. :smth014 My taste is fairly narrow.  :smth018 Oh well. Nobody's perfect.  :smth035

Coming in tied at 37th in our countdown, are bands that were listed 6 times...

Clan Of Xymox
Death Cab For Cutie
Iron Maiden
Mazzy Star
PJ Harvey
Public Image Ltd.
Sonic Youth
The Who

What an intriguing mish-mash. I only remember one good album from Xymox, perhaps I am having a senior moment.

My only favorite here is Death Cab...
...though I actually do like quite a bit from Sonic Youth, so long as its not too funky or angry. :smth059
I really need to listen to PiL more and finally go back and deep dive The Who. :smth051

PetShopBoy

And in our final installment of tonight's incredibly epic installment of Made-Up-List-Countdown...

...we have the bands all tied at 32nd in our countdown, all of which were chosen by you the voters the public the echo chamber of Cure fans so Legit that we can even find some good songs on their last three albums  oh yeah that Legit... well y'all listed the following artists 7 times...

Green Day
Sex Pistols
Slowdive
The Chameleons
The Fall

Two of my all-time favorites are here - Slowdive and The Chameleons.

I leave you with 3 party trick throw-down challenges...

#1.
Is there anybody here who loved the recent Slowdive album, but somehow preferred anything else as their year-end #1 album? I can't imagine such a thing is possible.

#2.
And is there anybody here who, like me, actually went through the ENTIRE discography of The Fall?
Well, let me be accurate, I only listened to studio albums, but there are a gazillion of them - also I haven't heard the last couple - that deep dive of mine was soooo 2013. The weirdest part of all is that I really enjoy about half the songs on each and every album, and really can't stand about half the songs on each and every album. I know. I got issues. :smth100

#3.
Who here actually doesn't like The Chameleons? :smth064
I don't believe it is possible for Cure fans.
Prove me wrong.
And be prepared to explain yourself.

Ok party people, see you in a couple days for the next part of the countdown!

Cheers

Why? Your taste isn't above everyone else's, or is it?  :?

I love the Slowdive album, but nowadays I find it hard to make a "ranking" list of albums. I just listen what I feel is the album which fits my mood for now, when I'm in the right mood it will be Slowdive. If not, it will be something else... I liked quite a few albums in 2017, but I can't really tell which is #1.

But at least I can assure you I do like The Chameleons.  :)
