A coworker is having trouble with m4p files.  He has downloaded an album from itunes, but doesn't have an ipod.  Because the files are m4p, his mp3 player (not sure what manufacturer) won't allow him to put the downloaded songs onto his player.  My suggestion was to burn a cd with itunes, then rip the songs to mp3.  He does not have a cd burner so that won't work.

Can you convert them within itunes or is there free software that can do it?  Can dbPoweramp do the conversion?

I had this same bout with the evil iTunes when it had the "exclusive" Sessions@AOL. I did what you suggested using burned CD's.

To the best of my recollection, iTunes will not allow you to convert downloaded (copy-protected) m4p's directly to mp3. I tried everything.

I've never used it, but people claim dBpowerAMP can do anything. It's worth a shot.

Sorry I couldn't give a more informative response. I'm just posting to stay on the mailing list. :smt029
