Looking back, to me it feels the Cure did "update" their "typical" sound for this album. Robert talked a lot about "Disintegration" at the time - even though "Bloodflowers" sounds quite different...
Bloodflowers also did that thing in Disintegration where the same guitar solo line was reused in other songs ie. Closedown and Untitled, Last Day Of Summer and Where the birds always sing
