While I wasn't a big fan, I was sad to hear the news about Sinead O'Connor.  :'(

Saw her live at a festival once (with The Cure, Heather Nova, NMA and others).

QuoteComfortable on screens both small and large, Laurie also had an eye-catching starring role in David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and was a staple of American television and film throughout the second half of the 20th century. Per THR, her death was confirmed today by her rep, Marion Rosenberg, after not being well "for some time." Laurie was 91.

A fond farewell to Shane MacGowan (R.I.P.)!

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/30/shane-macgowan-pogues-singer-dies

QuoteShane MacGowan, the lead singer and songwriter of trailblazing Celtic punk band the Pogues and one of the all-time great bandleaders, has died aged 65 following a long period of ill health. A family statement said he died at 3.30am on 30 November, and was described as "our most beautiful, darling and dearly beloved".

His wife Victoria Mary Clarke wrote in a statement on social media: "Shane will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life ... I am blessed beyond words to have met him and to have loved him and to have been so endlessly and unconditionally loved by him."

Someone I've known for a long time (or thought I knew) unexpectedly went out of business ten months ago. As I stood in front of the closed doors, I could just make out a sign stating that the closure would only be for one year. I then involuntarily went to the shop where the person once did her training and her master's degree. I'm not really happy there. I get "passed around" and pay a third more. They're friendly, but I'm not really welcome. The store is just too "elitist" for me. I am disappointed because she was always focused on her work and nothing else. She vehemently denied any desire to have children if we ever discussed it. Now I met her today with her almost one-year-old son and found out that she will not be returning to her job. Her only employee is in retraining - what, I didn't want to ask. I'm really disappointed because she could and should have communicated it better, especially since she shares her private happiness with others on social media, but not her true motives and intentions.  :?

Sad news, my mum's cousin died today... we had made a visit to her place in 2023 and she was so nice to me (as if we'd known each other for a long time, but we hadn't).  :'(

...and again (the weather)?

Quote from: NZZTragedy in Valais: On Sunday, five ski tourers were found dead on Tête Blanche at an altitude of over 3,500 meters.

Quote from: Aargauer ZeitungThe search was very difficult due to gusts of wind and snowfall. The rescue workers continue to look for the sixth person at high pressure.
