oh my god.
sorry to hear, that the audience was so bad.
normaly they are drunken or shy.
had no problem at any cure concert in austria.

in the austrian press they had the best notes, one of the best concert this year !!

but they didn´t made a soundboard recording like 2000 :((((((

that's really weird, because on my way to the airport i grabbed one austrian newspaper which had a short review of the gig. it said that the band started the gig with 'prayers for rain' and played for instance 'plainsong' and 'disintegration'. huh did they really? i wonder where i was during those songs...

i wonder what concert all these reviewers really went to - mayeb there was a secret show afterwards or something...? or maybe none of them was even there...

maybe he had a wrong playlist from the record company, or he thinks plainsong is prayers for rain

yeah but they didn't play either 'plainsong' or 'prayers for rain'...

i can understand that reviewers can't be expected to know ALL the music in the world and that sometimes they have to review concerts from bands they don't really know that well at all. anyway i'm still extremely annoyed by this sort of mistakes because they are amateurish - it makes the reviewer look like the guy either
1) don't know a shit
2) wasn't even there

thus it makes the whole act of reviewing totally ridiculous.
and the reviewer still gets paid for writing all that anyway so...

i'm not pissed about reading bad reviews or bashing comments IF the writer has something to back it up with, to proof his words/his opinion.
but i freaking hate reviews that are just full or plain and simple errors!
like i said, amateurish! if a guy gets paid for writing reviews for a paper/magazine then he should try at least to get the facts right!

Yes, that weird. Maybe the reviewer hadn't got the setlist. But i didn't hear the holy hour, friday i'm in love or prayers for rain. I'm wondering where he got it from. That is one of the reasons why i normally don't read reviews of a concert from the press.

there were these two hysterically screaming (and pretty drunk) teenage girls who stumbled right next to me towards the end of the 65dos set. oh god they were a pain... how can some people scream so loud? and even if you can, why do it?? please have some mercy...
anyway, i made sure i had moved pretty far away from them after 65dos finished. then about 15 minutes before the cure started, who suddenly appeared on my left? oh, these two brainless girls - so i quickly had to try and move again... i went almost to the other side of the audience because of them, just to make sure i'm nowhere near them because they were honestly driving me mad, sorry! since the floor was pretty packed with people, it was not so easy to find a new good spot... i managed though - or i thought i had managed. because about two minutes into 'open', just guess who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, screaming and yelling and jumping (and bumping into everyone around them) exactly next to me on my left? :(
again, i had to make a run... which was even more difficult because the show was already on and there was even less room to move in the audience... damn that was annoying! it really took me a couple of songs to recover from this....

like i said, i've nothing against people having fun out there, but stupidity is just pure stupidity, unfortunately.

Oh, i'm sorry japanesebaby. Such a experience can ruin the concert.
Behind me there were some drunk fans and that wasn't amusing at all.
But your thing is really bad. Poor girl :(

I really hope the next concert you will attend will be great and you can enjoy it!!!

let's hope so!

by the way, even robert commented the chatty/babbling audience: before 'at night' he said "what the f*** is this talking that goes on? ...seriously, what is it?".
huh.
wien is a nice city and i'd like to visit there again but it might be on my list of "don't go to concerts in these cities" now...

anyway!

I can't remember that Robert commented it.
I will definitely visit Wien again someday, because it's not too far away from my hometown. It's really a nice city.
Haven't been there since Christmas 1995. There are many things to see.
Yes, maybe it's better not to go to a concert in this city.
But i have to say, if The Cure will play there again, maybe i will become weak and buy a ticket :) Who knows :)

Thanks for the links japanesebaby :)

well, to clear things up:
robert wasn't reffering to the audience ... that "talking" came out of some speakers on simon's side of the stage.

i think robert was referring to some strange noise coming out of a monitor box.
he and simon were irritated by it since the beginning of the show.

that's the way i comprehended.

sorry the audio in that clip is so bad i can't make much out of it. i've listened to a good audio source of that and even there it's still difficult to translate all that he's saying (why does robert have to mumble all the time when he speaks!).

anyway, i don't get why he would use the word "talking" if he just meant some kind of noise. and he did say "talking". and i don't get it how there could have been any talking coming out of any of the monitors, really.

it must be some kind of noise that sounded like mumbling...
i'm quite sure he meant the monitors on the side. he pointed at that direction as well...

Lots and lots of ad-libbing on Play For Today.  Interesting, but I wish Robert would've saved it for Faith or Forever.
