hi,
i just wanted to ask you all, if you were worried for this lack of news regarding the new album.
i honestly have to say, YES...
i'm worried... because this means (to me) we won't have any new album at least until the end of the year....
i'm also honestly worried for the biblic time they're employing to complete the album... i mean, this could mean they're not very happy with it...
what do you think?
seems strange that they are planning to tour without an announcement regarding the release of the new album, I also feel we may not see it released this year :(
i can't be worried - the album will be released when it'll be released if it'll be released at all.
hehe i guess i'm too old to worry about things like that. ;)
no, i mean i guess i'm silently counting on them, for finishing it when it suits them. we'll see then - i have time to wait.
although i was hoping that they'd tour during the summer because it would be like 110% easier for me to travel then to see them.
other times of the year will be difficult... anyway, i guess there're still good chances that they'll be touring in summer - 2008!
that would suit me fine. :-D
With dates being booked carrying the band from the end of July through Christmas, there surely will be a new product to promote, which will likely mean a new record. I'm betting on a July-early August release date.
As the saying goes, "no news is good news". I'd rather total radio silence over promises, delays, excuses, apologies, speculation, retractions, etc, etc, etc.
And as annoying as a delay is, I'd rather wait and wait and wait than be stuck with a rushed effort.
:-D
NEW ALBUM :
EVERY FOUR YEARS!
SO, 2008 IS MORE LIKE IT...

YES! i wonder if this silence is good or not :?
anyway, if the new album is not released in 2007... maybe in 2008?
Yes, I guess. The delays are kind of excessive. I mean, we've gone from a April '06 release to a October '06, to May '07, to ...?
I'd really much rather they take their time and make a great album, though, than to rush it for our sake.
You lot should think yourself lucky.
I am a Sisters Of Mercy fan.
Imagine how I feel
there was that post from Robert as he was dispelling rumours that he was going back to record more vocals so i reckon it's coming soon...
i would only worry if they release a statement that the album's not coming out or that there are dramas with it..
nothing to worry about.
as 2004 the album was released and they had played some festivals.
i think this will be a june/july/august release, because 2004 at hurricane festival they played some much new songs. and the day after at southside they changed the setlist to not much new songs. hurricane had bad vibes, the crowd didn´t know the songs.
so i think they are releasing it before the tour.
and there will be def. a new albumthis year
I don't worry about when it will be released but what the result would be like. :smth020
The last time they changed so many times the release date, they came out with Wild Mood Swings.
Another coincidence: They were saying that it would be like KMKMKM too.
I don't dislike WMS but I expect something better.

A washing machine full of broken glass would be better than WMS
hey wms was a good album (treasure :smth020). I dont think it would really matter if they ever released another album anymore. I mean it would be nice but i think the most we can hope for is at best another Wish or Bloodflowers. Were never gonna get another Pornography or Disintegration...

i actually agree that it doesn't matter if they ever released anything. but my reasoning for it is completely different: i think it doesn't matter because it's useless to expect an artists to release something "for me", or "for us fans". so in some way sit doesn't matter because it's not something that i can have a say to. this on a conceptual level of course - on the other hand i think it does matter me a lot whether they release anything and what it will be like. but that can only really be meaningfully discussed when it has been released and we know what we are discussing about.
i don't want to appear harsh, but the reasoning that it doesn't matter because they probably won't make the best album ever (or even as goos as the best ones so far) makes no sense to me. it's like saying i won't bother eating today because the food is maybe not as good as what i ate yesterday. or i won't go to see this movie because it doesn't matter anyway since it's maybe not the best movie in the world.
we can surely compare albums and movies and dishes after we've first enjoyed them and we can then say this was maybe better than that. but imo we can't say something is useless from the start just because it's maybe not going to be the greatest thing in the world. why bother doing anything then? the decisions to make an album, to make any kind of art, the decision to embark on the "mission" is made anew every time. even for an experienced artist, i believe the motivation has to be found anew every time. so every album/piece of art is a different album, every album/piece of art deserves to be given a chance to be born first...

WELL, I THINK VON HAS A GREAT TACTICS WITH THE INDUSTRY
HE HASS FULL CONTROL
HE IS IN CHARGE (HE'S CONDITIONS TO LABELS ARE CLEAR FOR ALMOST A DECADE NOW)
HE GETS ALMOST 100% PROFIT FROM HIS WORK (TOURING)
THERE IS NO BAND WITH M.O. LIKE THE SISTERS OF MERCY
THERE IS A CERTAIN CHARM IN GOING TO CONCERTS WHEN YOU KNOW THATS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAR NEW SONGS...
I THINK ANDREW GETS :smth023 :smth023 FROM ME!
ALSO, YOU HAVE LOADS OF BANDS THAT SOUND LIKE SISTERS
NEW MISH ALBUM OUTTHERE
THE HOUSE OF USHER, ANOTHER GREAT BAND...
:rocker
You still look you're shouting ;)
Robert?

Washing machine full of broken glass eh? thats far too harsh..........but isn't that the intro to disintegration ;)
You know, im not worried at all, i think this album will actually be better then the last one and besides...this is The Cure remember, there are always delays, im just thankful they exist, not too bothered about deadlines at all to be honest. When its finished, its finished, have faith people!!! (no pun intended, of course)
No i don't.
The only thing i care about is when they are going to do a European Tour again...
Missed them so much...
don't worry too much about the new album... much more important to me is: when will the remasters continue - no news there is a bit frightening + if the new things take off, lovely, I'd guess no new remasters until mid 2008 earliest.
:D The Sisters wise, well, at least I already was a fan when their last studio album was out, meaning I could buy it on the day of its release in 1990 - not sth. every Sisters fan can admit...
The latest rumor about the new album is that Universal has it "penciled in" for an early Oct. release. But as we've seen over the last year or so, that pencil's eraser has been used a lot. (from COF)
well,
this is weird..i mean they're going to play in Asia..only with "old" stuff?
Im not surpised its been pushed back again......
Although these shows later in the year will probably bump it all along, i think Robert will want it finished as soon as they start doing shows, so they can play the new stuff live....
Anyhow, the point is they WILL be doing shows, which is great 8)
Surely they will play SOME new stuff in Asia.... I mean, the album's got to be done by then, right?
But October '07?
This album was meant to be released in April '06!
....That said, though, I can understand, as any person involved in the creative field is able. Sometimes there just isn't enough time. Delays are part of the game....
I do hope, at least, that it's worth the wait.
DELAY DELAY DELAY JUST MAKE A GOOD ALBUM!
I CAN WAIT ANOTHER YEAR!!
:smth023
Weren't the Australia shows supporting Wish done shortly before that album was released? I think they could still play 3-4 songs from the new record before it's out, and really who wants another tour where they play almost the entire new album and just a few bits from the back catalog?
Me!!!!
I never understood people only wanting only stuff. Stuff from presences to now and future is interesting, everything else is living in the past. I have nothing against playing the whole new album, because this is what it is about. Not about the old times, this we heard a hundred times before. Old things are wonderful for memory, no more no less, but what counts is the future, this is it!
Everyone, go on!!!!
When I see a band, I want an overview of their entire career including the latest material that they're doing. It's always disapointing when a band is so into promoting their latest release that they completely forget that they have a back catalog. Very annoying.
Not really worried... I'm sure they're just working on it.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I WOULD LIKE IF THEY MADE SUCH A GREAT ALBUM THAT THEY WOULDNT NEED TO PLAY OLDER STUFF!
:-D
THEN AGAIN, THERE'S NO POINT IN PLAYING EARLY SONGS WITHOUT KEYBOARDS, SO...
