Probably better to call this one Perth.
Well, I like to respect the actual locations and call them what they actually are â€" not just round off to the nearest big city.
This seems to confirm that Mount Claremont is an actual separate city, so...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Claremont
Quote from: bomber2007 on June 22, 2007, 16:07:50The name city refers to a "local government area".
Mount Claremont is a direct suburb of Perth, it's about 8km away from the city centre of Perth, a couple of minutes drive.
But it's still autonomous, isn't it?
Just as Rosemont is independent of Chicago, and Inglewood is separate from Los Angeles.
Then what's the use of the name Mount Claremont? Why don't they just call it Perth?
Boondall seems like it is rather independent after all. Might have to update that soon.
Hollywood isn't a city. It's region near downtown Los Angeles. They don't have a government or any autonomy. It's not independent in any way. That's the difference in this case.
I agree - this should be referred to as Perth
In Australia we have Capital Cities for each state plus Major Regional Cities/Centres, each have suburbs.
unless The Cure are doing a monster tour including several suburban shows, then we really should refer to this as Perth
Similarly for the Adelaide show, I dont even know the Suburb or local government area name for the actual venue.
I also have to agree that this should be billed as PERTH... I had no idea what Mount Claremont was to be honest!!! :?
Anyway, onto other more important stuff.. I wanted to ask anyone thats is attending this gig to please take note of the set list, so I can cheat and be semi prepared for the Melb. show! I have asked a BrisVegas gig attendie to do the same, so it will be interesting to see if the set list changes at all. Cheers then PERTH people!! :smth023
Anyone attending this show?
Show sold out according the promoter

I await anxiously to see what I can expect on Monday.

I don't believe that is Simon. I don't see any tattoos.
Also, Chain Of Flowers has the set list up and it looks similar to the Singapore gig.

Nothing new :? Looks like we might just have to wait another month. And Us or Them in place of Kyoto Song :smth011 Still, I'm sure it was a great show :rocker
great setlist again - good first and third encores, shame about no new stuff though, must be waiting until the album is released
Nothing new :smth011
Not much different from the Asian show.. :smth011
No new baby too..Wait again..!
I can imagine the 2nd Encore...a really terrific thing to happen.. :smth023
but there were 4 songs played for first time on this tour: Us or Them, M, Play for Today, At Night.
Chain of Flowers has some pics up.

At night, M, Play make a nice improvement to my eyes... :D
I'm digging that pic from Primary. Pretty cool background image to use the artwork from the single.

Christ I hope that's not the album title... and that that's not the album cover.

maybe it's a spelling mistake and it should read "4:33" instead of "4:13"? ;) now, there's something: an album (or possibly a double album!) made out of silence.
the late mr. john cage would be sooooo proud... :rocker
i like this...
ps. forget the bible. i mean, seriously.
sorry but looking at that that band pic again: what the HELL happened to jason?
i can understand that porl looks a bit spooky-ish because it's his style but....
oh i see: so jason couldnt make it to the photo session so they hired some idle transvestite to fill in for him??
his hair is... :smth011
i consider this to be even more proof that they really should considered getting a new drummer.
i mean, seriously!

you think you're tired now but wait until thr... no no... six? - NO!:
4:13....
4-13 saturday night :D maybe it just means it will be released in April 2013 after all it keeps getting put back that often
Looks like a single release maybe?.....
"4 13" - is this 4 people, 13th album?...... i guess so.
Have to agree though, as much as i think its great that Robert et al dont care about what people think of their looks, i think Jason needs to put the pink lipstick away - its not doing him any favours....... and what happened to Porl?... is he about to join Marilyn Mansons band?!
Also quite funny that Robert's wearing the same shoes i have somewhere, although i tend to stick with the old DM's these days 8)
i do really hope it isn't the cover art...
it's .... bad!
i mean, now Porl is back...get back to the Parched Art!!!!

afer all Perth setlist is fantastically thrillingly bright! I can't wait to listening to it! :smth020
It's almost the same setlist, I hoped in something different...anyway it's perfect! :rocker

yes why not!
i always liked his art-work, both cover-art and otherwise. for those who haven't maybe found it, he has a great website for his works:

Sound Check: The Baby Screams, How Beautiful You Are, Primary, Open
 How Beautiful You Are :rocker :rocker :rocker Hopefully this isn't one they just try in soundcheck like Six Different Ways in '96.
No shit!!! I have been pretty down, not impressed by the setlists so far. But if they throw in How Beautiful You Are, I will be very happy!

Lets hope it will be played on the next show! :rocker
Hmmm, no Lovecats. That hurts a little. :(
I would've loved to hear Doing the Unstuck, but I knew ot was a long shot. Still, quite a good set, almost everything I wanted to hear. 2nd encore will go off!
Thanks very, very much for posting the setlist! Sorry I've forgotten who it was that did!
I had a peek at some of the gettyimages and chainofflowers ones too... I have to say that I like the look Jason has! But then I am a bona fide freak of nature!!! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the head on Porl!! He is so very creative, and I just LOVE the whole damned thing! I'm not sure if they're real tough stickers or just painted on? He seems to have a few tats.. so they may be tattoos on his noggin'! Very brave lad if they are tattooed on... hurts like hell there (as it's on the bone!) and gives you a massive headache (so my fella tells me anyway!!).
In regards to the 4:13 new album reference, I'm wondering if Mr Smith is perhapes just dabling in the religious imagery somewhat. I don't think it's because he's particularily religious, it's just symbology really... just something to write and think about. I thought that Us or Them had slight tones of religiousness in it... maybe I'm wrong?!
Anyway, to all you Perth-ites, hope the show was all that you hoped for... I'm off to the Melbounre one, and am getting myself all organised for it (it takes me ages to prepare for these sorts of things!!! - packing is a nightmare! Oh I should point out that I live in Tasmania, and am flying over for the night!)...

now i know what it could be about/what it faintly reminds me off: priscilla, queen of the desert! :-P
ok i'm crap with photoshop but a bit like the attachement... i mean since they are even in of australia anyway!
The Perth setlist worked perfectly for me, not having seen them since the Disintegration tour in the UK a fair while ago it was good to hear the stripped down line up. Hoping that a good recording will surface somewhere, the Singapore one is pretty damm good but it'd be nice to have one from the night I was there.
hahahaha 'j'.. like the profile image! "punks not dead" hey!!! ;)

You got it. Saw Wattie get his ass kicked on stage by a bunch of skins in New Jersey in the mid 80's. They were some good times.

Hahahahaha... nothing like a little 'ultra-violence' to set the tone of a gig hey!!! I would've loved to see that to be honest... I also heard (and I apologise for this being off topic.. I'll be quick!!) that they were planning a tour over to our shores here in Oz. But I've no idea what happened to it! I have never seen 'em and am slightly jealous that you have! Maybe they'll get their arses into gear and make it over, there seems to be a bit of a 'punk' revival at the moment. We've had UK Subs and a few others tour recently! Ok... thats it back to Cure stuff now!
here is a review on The Band, just before they played WA:
