is that so? i hear hovet (stockholm) is supposed to have poor acoustics too.
a shame.
i'll be checking out this copenhagen arena in concert situation in about three weeks. maybe i'll still decide to go after i've been there...
saw Pearl Jam in june - they really tried - strugling with the sound - all in all it was OK but, Copenhagen needs a place like Globen in Stockholm
Looking forward to Cure nevertheless :D
lepep
btw PJ made a great gig inspite the acoustics, and Cure certainly will do the same :smth023
I will be in København, Paris and London

maybe just to p**s record companies off... to play what they wanna.. any musical input from technicians on this point would save me from drowning!! maybe gotta do with sound frequencies and pitches?? :smth035

They started at 21.00 european time in Sweden and Oslo if I'm correct. That means, there's 70 minutes left yet.

always depends with each band, normally you check most of the instruments (like one song with acoustic guitar, one with 6-string) and/or opening songs or songs that tend to be difficult to mix (be it from vocal range or with certain high/low notes) to make sure it sounds best altogether in that arena. and quite often one is checking a song which is considered to be played in one of the shows or which maybe felt a bit underrehearsed or not going totally as planned when played before, especially if you have a wide range of songs to pick from.
ta! :smth023 closedown. :smth020

You laugh because the songs I ask are too bad, or because Bob won't play them?
The show is over. The last song, Killing an arab, was introduced by Bob as "This if for Denmark", wishfulthings said.
What did he mean?. Maybe it has something to do with Bob's support to the danish people for the Mahoma's caricature problem last year?
Again, thanks a lot to wishfulthings for the excellent coverage :smth023

no no, i just laugh because it would be a killer combination! truly, they'd need something like this to wake themselves up! ;)
because looking at today's set list, i was just going to say "the main set's getting a lot better but there's surely something wrong with their heads if they keep doing the same three encore-sets much longer..."

not even last year. actually today 7 leading danish newspaper printed the same picture...
anyway, looked so promising, encores kinda "spoilt" it... high expectations?
the encores are getting really static at the moment, hopefully they change it around a bit in the upcoming shows.
can't believe they didn't do Wrong Number though, would be too good to believe
Very good show!
Hope they'll change something in the encores, too.
Anyway thanks to wishfulthings! I had a good time following the news! :smth023

I don't mind Wrong Number...has a little more energy live
but I wonder if the list is complete cuz there seems to be a few less songs
than previous shows
so its gonna be either faith or forever in hamburg then.....
ok its wishful thinking 8)
Faith could easily happen. I think we'll see it show up within the next week.
humm, i think i get it now. they're playing backwards. first comes the encores with some surprises, and then comes the main set at the end, wich is always basically the same. interesting concept, always on the avant-garde.
Quote from: rodney on February 13, 2008, 22:08:14
Good that they skipped Wrong Number.
My mind must be playing tricks cos I am pretty sure they actually played that song.
They also played a version of a song (can't remember the title) - maybe A Forest - it was no matter an extension of a song kinda - and Robert made a remark about the reaction from the audience - like "this is how the original version was" - or something..
I also think the remark before the last song "Killing an Arab" where he said "This is for Denmark" was about how idiotic religion is.
If a couple of cartoons will make you kill other people, you're an idiot.
Oh and the show was just great.
Especially the start - Disintegration is my favourite album ..so there.
Plainsong is still one of their most beautiful songs - keyboards or no keyboards. Just magnificent.
And then Prayers for rain... Simply great beginning.
SO glad they skipped Open.
Great show - great sound :-D
They played Wrong number

I'd imagine that it has something to do with Danish newspapers reprinting a cartoon depicting the prophet Mohammed. Apparently this is blasphemous to Muslims. 17 Danish newspapers decided to reprint it after Danish police uncovere da plot to murder the cartoonist.

Not sure that this is a good idea for Robert to dedicate this song to that cause, considering that the song has negative connotations to those that assume the song is about actually Killing someone of Arab descent. :smth011 I am sure that it was a tongue in cheek comment, but I am so sure that many people will take it out of context.

I remember reading about it all.. the danish journalists copped a lot.. but it was a very senstive topic.. especially depicting an image of Mohammed ( it is disallowed in muslim faith .. to depict his image..)
I hope that it was taken tongue-in-cheek, and won't flare anything up!!
Best show ever, the 3 encores where outstanding, I´ve heard A forrest live for the first time (ist my favorite song ever)My wife was so happy that they played boy's dont cry....
Yeah I know we old folks dont know anything ;) :-D
Yeah The Cure still goiing strong!!!

So what? I believe in the Donald Duck religion and it's very sensitve for me when other cartoonist make fun of Donald.
Don't let the extremists of any religion have any power.
You're a Donaldist?
Oh damn, I didn't know such a religion existed..
Was just trying to be ironic although Donald is more real to me than Jesus, Muhammed or God..
I'm not sure if it's a religion or what, but it is a real thing. I know your point though.

Last night was my first ever seeing the Cure live and I am still EUPHORIC about it. God I wish I had taken notice of them before, I remember growing up in the 80´s and hearing (and liking) their hits on MTV and such, but being a former Hard Rocker there was no place for anything else.
Times have changed and so have I. Last night was a night I will NEVER ever forget. Truly amazing.
Cheers from Sweden,

Sorry about the missing 2 tracks in my updates, I somehow seemed to loose one of my txt messages during the concert. I'll be putting up some photos later and will send a link to these. Having seem the Cure many times previously I wasn't really expecting much after hearing the first few track listings but it was sooooo enjoyable, great crowd, band were in brilliant form and seemed to enjoy the whole night. For me to wish impossible things was the highlight. It started with a slow tribal sounding drum beat and morphed into the song. I think most people thought it was a new track initially. Well...more updates later
