Big In Japan,at last!

"Big In Japan" is a Tom Waits song isn't it?
Possibly the only good song he's got!!!

"Big in Japan" is also a song of 80s performed by old pop group Alphaville...

ALSO A PUNK ROCK SUPERGROUP

BIG IN JAPAN
1977-1979

Jayne Casey - Vocals
Ian Broudie - Guitar/Organ/Backing Vocals
Holly Johnson - Bass/Backing Vocals
Budgie - Drums/Backing Vocals

:rocker

PS

TOM WAITS IS GREAT!!!
I LOVE HIM!

:smth023

PS

I THINK ITS REALLY WEIRD THAT THE BAND IS GOING TO JAPAN...
THERE WAS A PETITION LONG AGO BUT NOTHING CAME OF IT, AND NOW THE BAND GOES ON A SPONSORED FESTIVAL GIG...
STRANGE!

Fatter than Bob, balder than Porl, as sober as Simon, as amusing as Jason

You guys must all be old or something, because I don't know a damn thing about Tom Waits.

I've only heard the name before, nothing more. :?

Didn't they do some press stop in Japan in '87 for the release of KMKMKM? I think I have a TV interview as filler on some DVD somewhere.

Must have stung something awful when they went back to Japan -- and didn't play a show!

Seriously, though, it's cool that they are finally going back. To play.

Yep, I always wondered why they went all the way over there just for a TV interview...

yes they did several TV interviews in japan in may 1987, at least three different ones i know about.
the one found as a filler at the end of the toronto '96 dvd is this one:

these japanese interviews are pretty strange because the interviewers very pretty clueless about the cure and mostly didn't really know what to say/ask...

Oh, wow. Just found out that in addition to the Cure, the Stooges and Ash are playing Mt. Fuji. I wish I was Japanese right now. Or had the time/money to jet off there for a couple of days...

(At least the Stooges are in town this Saturday...)
