I was just contacted by Facebook regarding our Curefans FB Page

QuoteHi,

My name is XXXXX and I work for Facebook's UK communications team.

Our mission at Facebook is giving people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. We know that people use Facebook Groups to build communities and meaningful connections and that Groups bring people together in personal, practical and powerful ways. Your group Curefans is an amazing example of a community doing this.

We are in the process of curating an exhibition using some of the most interesting and unique UK groups on Facebook. We want to celebrate the diversity of these groups and I think that Curefans exemplifies what we'd like to bring together. We'd like to work with the Admin of the group to help create a representation of the group for the event. The exhibition is due to take place at the Oxo Tower Gallery between the 7th and 11th of February 2018.

Appreciate there is a lot more to say here and you will no doubt have questions, so let me know if you are keen to be involved and we can set up a time to talk.

Thanks

XXXXXXXXXX

I said we're interested (the person is real and I just checked her on Linkedn). This is what they answered back:

QuoteThis is great David - pages are part of this exhibition.

Now that sounds very cool! How did they find us?  :o
And it's kinda funny they view it as a "UK group", as I always saw it more as an "international" group. (Most of the "Admins" don't even live in UK - of course the band and many fans do!)
Sadly I won't be able to come to London at the suggested time, I might be there 1 month later... Bad timing once again... :(

Indeed, sometimes I post something over there, but basically I prefer this here for "in depth" discussion and stuff. With most of the "breaking" news, I make a point to post them here first, Facebook second.
Can't you see I try? Swimming the same deep water as you is hard...

Update:

QuoteHi David,

Thanks for coming back to me - I'm sorry to say we are only working with groups whose admins are based in the UK for this project.

Thanks again for your time so far, but unfortunately we won't be able to continue.

All best,

XXXXX

That person owes you a drink now. Don't you think after that?

Well, I think Facebook (yes, especially you, Mark Zuckerberg!) owes everyone who "liked" the Curefans FB page a drink.  :-D
