I bought the new album yesterday! :D
By the first listening I find some songs very "unusual" and alternative, sometimes it's hard to believe it's a U2's album! :-D
Anyway I think it's a good work, especially for the arrangements (the edge is a god! :smth083 )

And imo MAGNIFICENT is not just the best song of this album, but also one of the best u2songs of the last 20 years! It reminds me of joshua tree.......this song IS U2...great! :smth048 :smth049 :smth020

Hope to read your comments soon!  :smth023

Can't wait to see them live in july! :smth055 :smth026

imo they could have chosen a slightly less high building though. ;)

finally got my copy...

so far i really like this album.  :D
more comments to follow... but at the moment i'm totally hooked on 'breathe'.
i've been feeling quite low and worn for quite some time, yet this song had strange magic to lift me up:

16th of June, nine 0 five, door bell rings
Man at the door says if I want to stay alive a bit longer
There's a few things I need you to know...

...These days are better than that
These days are better than that
Every day I die again, and again I'm reborn
Every day I have to find the courage
To walk out into the street
With arms out
Got a love you can't defeat
Neither down or out
There's nothing you have that I need
I can breathe
Breathe now

I turn into a bird,
Carry further than the word is heard.

hmm  i think i have to change my view about this album. at first it did sound like a really good album to me. ok there were some tracks i didn't like (like 'moment of surrender' which i pretty instantly disliked a lot) but otherwise.... but then it wore itself out really fast. which is not something that U2 albums are supposed to do, imo. at least this has never happened to me with any other U2 album (not even with 'how to dismantle...' which i didn't consider quite that good at all).
when i listen to this albu now, i wonder what some reviewers mean when they've said this album is U2 exploring new grounds, the band renewing itself. suddenly i don't hear that.

before giving it a listen to myself, i remember reading an album review where it said that "U2 in 2009 is undoubtedly the best U2 cover band in the world". that's pretty mch how i feel now. still, it's a very professional band and a band i like much more than i am sometimes willing to adit - so i will say not bad word about them in that respect. but this album sounds like a pretty generic U2 album.

i agree now, too. i liked the album since hearing it for the first time, but then i realized it's not very creative and brave. they stayed in a comfort zone this time.
