The film focuses on the story of their most successful album "Disintegration", which in 1989 hit the nerve of a world shortly before the turn of the century - and explores one of the most astonishing phenomena in music history. The documentary combines the perspectives of friends and companions of the band. Long-time manager and label boss Chris Parry and former Cure bassist Phil Thornalley have their say, as do fans who have a special relationship with the band, because for British author Simon Price, this is what sets The Cure apart from other bands: "The Cure are icons of being different, they encourage people to stand up for themselves." In the 1980s, they were revered for this, especially behind the Iron Curtain. Teenagers wearing the "Cure look" also formed a youth movement there: "This 'mask' offered a way to escape the constraints of the system and at the same time provoke it," says musician Sandro Standhaft, who grew up in the GDR. When this system collapsed, The Cure were at the top. The album "Disintegration" marked the high point of their career. The documentary traces the path of a band that continues to inspire people all over the world with its style and stubbornness.
