Robert Smith has announced in a long interview on songsofalost.world that the band's final year will be 2029 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of The Cure's first album (released 11th May 1979), "if I make it that far".

Yes, you heard that right: We only have about four five more years of The Cure. Please share your reaction on this news below...

After he has partially distanced himself from earlier statements ("I shouldn't have said that back then" etc.), I wouldn't overestimate this. Even if The Cure will go down in music history at some point, he will remain unmistakably the artist Robert Smith. He can do whatever he wants, even if it's growing roses or painting! I'm also sure that he will continue to pursue other projects. He will never completely "tick off" music.  ;)
I was alone most of the time. My husband would simply disappear without a word.

I think this is really it this time. If that's the case, we have 4 years, 6 months and 27 days until The Cure's closure.

Agree. He won't go totally away, maybe I can even imagine some solo show. But not The Cure shows anymore.

Yes, I do agree. How often has he changed his mind? How often did he say "this is our last tour"?

In general, it can't go on forever. Maybe one day Robert will feel that they can't give their audience good enough performances any more, so it might be better to call it a day?

Maybe that day is close, maybe not. We will see.  :cool
I'm walking slowly and quickly, but always away...
