Quote from: MeltingMan on December 22, 2024, 08:55:29A few comments on the attack in Magdeburg: I know the "crime scene". There is, more or less, a pedestrian zone. Motorized vehicles may only keep there and parking to a limited extent as far as I know. Could it be that the perpetrator was let through because he was a doctor?! That would be particularly insidious. At least he was aware of the escape and rescue alleys.  :unamused:
Read the news that day, horrible, no words for this. This world is becoming day by day a crazier place to live in (saying this as I noticed more violence in my hometown as well as other places I used to live in). Hope the people injured will recover soon.

Had to cancel meeting a few old mates tonight (and others next week), due to a family member being sick.  :'(

My old mate A.J. passed away a few weeks ago, which I heard yesterday. He was in a wheelchair and not well, I could see it wouldn't last forever, but still sad he had to go already...  :'(

...your mother? Hopefully it is nothing serious.

Meanwhile, another fatality has been reported in Magdeburg, making a total of six (see post #345).  :pensive:

She could not move well, hence it was better to be "nearby". Don't worry, should be getting better.

A distant uncle was buried yesterday. This brings the number of deaths in the last quarter to seven. He did not have a bad life. He leaves behind a wife, son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. He was fifty years old when the Berlin Wall fell. I do not know whether this event was a blessing or a curse for him. RIP

The demographic change has now also affected my former Catholic community. It no longer exists. ✝

Very sad to hear Brian James passed away...

QuoteBrian was the guitar genius who formed the Damned and wrote nearly all the songs on the first two albums and created the template for punk rock...his songs were thrilling, exciting and great rushes of sound with amazing guitar solos. Even if he had just written New Rose alone he would be one of the greats but there was so much great music as he distilled the Stooges and MC5 into a more exciting whole. His vision for the Damned saw him put the band together, choosing the members of the lineup that somehow fitted perfectly despite being so utterly different from one another. The Damned first album is an all time classic but I've always loved the second album as well and it was great to see Brian back on stage with the band a couple of years ago, a brilliant epitaph and lap of honour for one of the great bands and for Brian himself.

QuoteNachdem James an der Gründung von The Damned mitgewirkt hatte, verließ er die Band, um eine neue Gruppe zu gründen: Tanz Der Youth. Später kam eine weitere musikalische Gruppe mit dem Namen The Lords of the New Church dazu. Unermüdlich folgte die Gründung weiterer Musikbands, wie zum Beispiel The Dripping Lips und die Brian James Gang.
