Honestly, I don't think I have a favourite song in Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me. They are all perfect!
To me, this is the most representative album of The Cure's multifaceted ability to create exceptional music, its varied moods and musical genres - and the voice ranging from despair, anger, angst, desire, love, lust, you name it - is just breathtaking, excessive and overwhelming even, though in a good way. I've chosen Why Can't I Be You in the poll only because I like the way the voice conveys the ideas of excessive desire, fanaticism and obsession with the wish to devour the other in an incredibly frightening accurate way. But I could have chosen The Kiss, A thousand hours, Fight, If only tonight we could sleep, Just like Heaven, or any other song, for a trillion other reasons...

I've chosen Alone, despite my favourite song in the album originally being Warsong. The more I listen to it, the more Alone seems to transcend the album and the band. It feels like talking about current trends in politics and social media turning everything we've known into a nightmare, how horrible humanity has become and how fragile and ultimately doomed the present (and the future) have turned out to be. To me, the sense of loneliness described is not simply personal, but it resonates with us as species getting older but not wiser at all, quite the opposite.

"Anora" - quite a good movie actually, some funny/absurd scenes in an otherwise serious movie...

IMO, if they missed this with 'Alone', they definitely achieved it with 'All Ever I Am'

Music and Lyrics / Best of: Songs of a Lost World

Best song on this album?

If you asked me in November, I would say 'Endsong', such a powerful song, and perhaps the best Cure closing song in history? But as I listened more and more the album, I just couldn't but decide for 'All I Ever Am'. It's like if Robert was writing about me. Best lyrics in the album and that great sad melody, the best song on SOALW for me.

I lose all my life like this
Reflecting time and memories
And all for fear of what I'll find
If I just stop and empty out my mind
Of all the ghosts and all the dreams
All I hold to in belief
But all I ever am
Is somehow never quite all I am now

I don't really like WMS, I chose This is lie because it's more bearable than the rest of the album. I usually play a Fantasy Cure game in my head every now and then on an alternate version of this record, which I end up calling Adonais and includes all the bsides plus this is a lie, want and perhaps a couple more from the official bunch of songs they've chosen, not sure which ones though... It used to me would be the opening song and Adonais the last, the rest of the tracklist varies according to my personal mood swings...

Wow! I'm so glad there's a section about BOOKS, and not necessarily Cure-related ones...
I'm currently reading several books simultaneously, among which Titus Groan by Marvyn Peake (part one onf the Gormenghast trilogy), Possession by A.S. Byatt and a study on Goth culture by Paul Hodkinson.
