I just save some shows ....

Try opening the box and check if the drive inside is jumpered slave or master, then use it as an internal drive (ide/ata?). Try partition magic 8 to fix the partitioning table
or to fix the partitioning.
To all: do not store important things on external drives for a long time.

I think it´s usb 2 interface that causes these problems that for example i´ve had. Disappearing files, dozens of gigabytes and partition loss. And then some computers mess up the drive when it´s plugged in. I´m waiting for the S-Ata interface to come and win usb.
