Hello everyone-
New member here. Been a Cure fan since discovering the melancholy genius that is Disintegration, but I have never had the opportunity to see them live. Although I was a bit reluctant to buy tickets, I checked out some of their setlists online and was pretty impressed. So I pulled the trigger and got some tickets for their Red Rocks show.
According to what I saw, it looks like they play for close to three hours much of the time. That's a pretty long setlist for a band of their age. Do they still give it their all, or are their collective years starting to show? Seeing as I've never seen them live (and may never again), I'd really like to see them play some of their cornerstones - Just Like Heaven, Push, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, 10:15, Pictures of You, Plainsong, Want, etc. Will they throw some of these in with the songs off their upcoming album?
I am so anxious for this show, and it's still four months away. Patience.
I'd expect a few songs from the upcoming album, but mostly older material. All of the songs that you chose could very well be on the sets and most of them sound very good. Plainsong is lacking these days since it's played on all guitar. That's probably the least likely song of the ones that you named.
Yeah, Id say most of those are gonna be in there. Does anyone here know if other shows from previous tours were as close to this in duration? This will be my first time as well, and I can hardly wait...only a few more weeks, holy crap!!
My prediction is 2 1/2 hour sets on average â€" Some of the same old stuff, a little stuff, and (hopefully) some other unusual stuff. Can never be too sure about the latter, though.
Most of the songs you listed have almost become a cliché in their setlists. Your wish could very well come true!

I haven't seen them live many times, but I've heard so many recordings that it makes it just as bad.

for all newer fans who are maybe not so familiar with the past tours yet:
there are several handy websites where you can check out the setlists of the previous tours (+other info about them),
for instance:

Bring it on
in exactly two weeks I will be front row in Adelaide
I want a setlist like the April 2006 show - 36 tracks, that would be awesome
the two shows I have previously attended have each exceeded 2 1/2 hours

If the new album is being linked back to the KMKMKM era, I'm hoping for some of the other KMKMKM tracks to make an appearance (I don't count JLH, The Kiss, or If Only Tonight... in that).
