6/29/2007 5:28:48 PM - by CURE:ROBERT
IT NOW DOESNT LOOK LIKE THE ALBUM WILL COME OUT UNTIL AFTER THE USA TOUR...
YAY!
SERIOUSLY
THIS IS A GOOD THING!
AS ANY NEW SONGS WE PLAY WILL BE EXTRA UNKNOWN...
THERE WILL PROBABLY BE SOME KIND OF A SINGLE RELEASE IN EARLY SEPTEMBER...
AND PROBABLY SOME PROMO STUFF AROUND THE ALBUM RELEASE
I THINK THE ALBUM WILL BE A 'LIMITED EDITION' DOUBLE...
WE WILL SEE!
SO
LATE OCTOBER/NOVEMBER NEEDS TO BE FREE FOR ALBUM RELATED SURPRISE STUFF...
WHICH MEANS SOUTH AMERICA HAS BEEN JOSTLED TO THE BACK OF THE QUEUE BEHIND EUROPE...
OH NO!
BUT WE WILL GET THERE...
RSX
PS
THERE WILL BE USA DATES PRESALE INFO/PASWORDS UP HERE IN THE NEXT 48 HOURS...
(Thanks Tom)
SO THEY WILL PLAY NEW SONGS!
ROBERT SOUNDS REALLY CYNICAL...
Anyone has an idea about when (month) they might be coming to southamerica?
From the sounds of it, I'd guess maybe April '08?

So Bob means April -> Southamerica, May -> Europe?
Can be this?
I was thinking March for Europe and April for SA.
march and april : Europe
May for South America
the Southamerican leg is postponed "behind" Europe

You're right dude. My english really sucks :smth100
i hope he goes back on that message not long ago about one uk date, it wouldnt be hard for them to do 5 (london, manchester, birmingham, glasgow, cardiff)
Yeah indeed. Come to Manchester! please!
On the other hand i can see why they dont exactly want to play in the UK, its not really the greatest of places for bands to play. Especially a band like The Cure whom the UK have pretty much dismissed as 'that miserable goth bloke, who sings about cats'.... thats the unfortunate reality.
(Also @ dsanchez, is that a line from a certain Slowdive song i see? 8) very cool, reminds me quite a bit of Bloodflowers actually :smth020.....)

Yes!, it's a line from one of the greatest british bands of all times, Slowdive! (my favourites after The Cure and Pink Floyd). It belongs to the song Catch the breeze. :smth023
about new album: http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003608886
"Lusting Here in Your Mind" ("It sounds suspiciously like heavy rock to me," Smith says)
"Christmas Without You"
"Please Come Home"
sounds like they are now collaborating with mötley crüe, george michael (eh?) and... phil spector...? :?
wasn't Please Come Home a song from "The Cure" sessions?
Yes, and The Perfect Boy sounds like it could be a reworked A Boy I Never Knew also from The Cure sessions.
Hurrah, news.
Robert is doing a great thing by making the double version same price as the single version, that way the record company cant win, im quite surprised hes been forced into that kind of position, considering hes old enough and has enough experience to call the shots...... but hey, thats the music industry.
Im looking forward to it very much..... :D

IN MY MIND,
ANOUNCING A DOUBLE ALBUM ALWAYS SOUNDS LIKE TROUBLE!I'M VERY, VERY SKEPTICAL ABOUT ROBERT'S POWER TO MAKE A GOOD DOUBLE ALBUM NOWADAYS...
GIVE US 10 SONGS, 45 MINUTE ALBUM THAT WOULD BE TRULY GREAT AND A 3 OR 4 GREAT B-SIDES!
I'LL LOVE IT MORE THAN 120 MINUTES OF SUBSTANDARD STUFF...
:smth023
The way I see it, they've been in the studio since 2005, working on this new album. I find it entirely possible that they've kept writing and recording since then. Looking back, The Cure would have been a better album if This Morning and the other b-sides were included. So would Wild Mood Swings. And Wish. And Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss me. And The Head on the Door.
Seeing something of a pattern?
I am all for a double album. The more the better, I am certain of this.
Personally, I think all of the albums mentioned would've been better if they'd have had b-sides substituted for songs that made the album......
The Cure will perform at Mexici City at the MTV LA Music Awardas on October.
