As you can see in the graphic, seats are available in the WHOLE circle. That means, some people will only be able to watch Robert's back  :?

It must be so weird to watch a show like this..but if there is a way in the world that they can play 360' on the stage, it will be ok.. :-D

I've been there in other shows and those seats are always empty. I don't think this time will be available. In 2004 they were't. Regards...

I'm with you 100% on that!  Their best shows are when they do not have to deal with an opener.  Is there a curfew at this venue?  It looks like the 2004 shows were only 2.5 hours long.

ABOUT 32 SONGS EACH ONE... AND WITH CURFEW DO YOU MENA IF YOU CAN DET IN THE VENEU EARLY??? NOT SO EARLY  AS FOR BEING ON THE SOUNDCHECK BUT YES A FEW HOURS EARLY...

i think curfew means if there is a time limit after which the band is not allowed to play - or after which they'll be fined per minute (if they exceed the playing time given to them). different venues can have fixed curfews, not depending on the artist.

OHHHH I GUESS THERE IS NO CURFEW,, WHEN METALLICA PLAYS IN THIS VENUE THE SHOWS WERE ABOUT 3 HOURS... SO THE 2004 SHOWS WERE ABOUT 2.5 THE SAEM AS IN MONTERREY ARENA AND IN THE EVENING WITH IN WA. SO I AM EXPECTING ABOUT 3 HOUR SHOWS...

A friend of mine (not JD) who went to the Mexico shows chickened out from taping the 2nd and 3rd night in 2004, when he spotted metal detectors (wands I think).

I know at least two of you are going to tape some or all of the shows, so bring all sorts of loose coins, keys, whatever just in case. Good luck and godspeed.

5 days away.

Sarting to get excited a bit.
I don't know if i'm more excited about real mexican food,
or the concerts, but that's besides the point...

Have a feeling we have nothing to worry about as far as getting
three hours a night with the way this years sets have been,
even the festival was 2hr-47min.

I just hope we get a set like Sydney2  :!:

Thanx pook.
There are 3 known tapers not hiding under rocks.

I just remembered some other dat taping cure fan mexican citizen
that i havent spoken to since last tour, ima send him an email
and see what he's up too these days.

I'm sure between the 3 we know of and the 30 we don't know of,
there will be some good audio and video to come.

Personally, ill upload my tapes if i come back with anything good,
this is such a nice thing that has happened on dime,
and the prayer board has just pushed me to the better spirited side
of the 'should i' or 'i will' debate.

Only problem is trying to run omnis from my seats.
First night i will get horrible sound.
Second night MAYBE good quality.
Third night is going to be hit or miss depending on stack setup.

Unless it's like MSG and youre free to wander.. we'll see what happens.

Good luck to everyone else rolling this coming weekend.
Cheers!
~p

That could be.  I haven't been to Mexico since 2000.  I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find anything you want.  Try asking the cab drivers  ;)

Download Trader's Little Helper here http://thor.prohosting.com/roh0205/

You can set it up to create an MD5 automatically after encoding is complete.  All you have to do is select create checksum file in the post encoding tasks frame.  Then select MD5 in the drop down menu.  You can also create ffp this way.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

who are planning on using the metro as main transportation,
and who are not familiar with the area.

Marika would have had no problem at this concert.  I was at the back of the floor and I easily had a clear shot of the stage (sorry Stef!).  I think I may have been in the top 20 of tall people at this show, and I am less than 6 feet tall!

Also, I think the sound was off in parts.  For about the first 80% of How Beautiful You Are, you couldn't even hear porl.  I also had some technical difficulties, that I ended up rectifying, but wasn't happy about. It all worked out in the end.  Hopefully since they did the BDC/KAA/10:15 encore tonight, they'll go darker tomorrow.  4th row tomorrow night!

Had a look at the stacks tonight and they are suspended, although they are curved down.  Just hope I can pull something good that close.  MT tonight is a bit boomy with roll off filter, iRiver is a bit "empty".  Think I might go without the filter for the iRiver tomorrow.

How about a JD/JD matrix?  :smth020  Go w/o roll-off tomorrow.  You shouldn't get as much of the boom being up so close.

The setlist scans are at A Chain Of Flowers and they do not have "Cut", are you sure it was played?

The setlist scan also has these encores printed.

1)
At Night

Play For Today
A Forest

2)
Plainsong
Disintegration

3)
The Holy Hour
Other Voices
Faith

A boot?  If you're talking about a live recording let's call it that.  "Bootlegs" are sold for profit, which us tapers highly frown upon.  ;)

Nope no cut.  Sorry about that.  I was keeping track of the setlist by entering notes on my cellphone.  After Fascination Street I wrote cut, but that was a note to myself regarding my recording... :smth011

But as far as encores, I wish they played the ones on COF.  That is my kind of encore... complete with Disintegration and Faith!

I'm going through the recording now, and what I listed is what they played.  Guess it was one of those "Simon chose the encores" nights.  Let's hope Simon doesn't have a say tonight and they go with the encore listed on COF!

Just had a look at the COF scan.  Looks like they had 2 seperate encores and they went with the second one (unfortunately).

Regarding the show, man those Mexican fans are LOUD!  Probably the loudest audience I have ever heard at a Cure show.  Robert was very energetic all night and they all seemed to be in good form.  During one of the series of Robert's "I can't dance, but I'm going to anyway", he came to the right side of the stage and someone threw him an England soccer jersey that they were selling outside.  He walked around with it for a while, then opened it up and held it up and seemed genuinely amused by it.

There should be plenty of pictures floating around.  Just in my section alone there had to have been 30 cameras.  Mine is so bulky that I decided not to bring it.  No where to stash the thing during pat downs.

@Tof, yes, get some practice.  I'm curious how all of the recordings from Paris will turn out.  It'll be nice to compare all the versions since I'm sure a lot of us will be standing right next to one another.

Exploding, what you wrote in your blog is not true. You can re-distribute the song freely, as soon as you keep the ORIGINAL format (wav in this case). What makes upset here is that you downloaded the song, converted to mp3 and did not even mention the name of the person (Jeff) who shared this with us. Neither you did mention curefans.com as the place where this sample was shared :smth018

---

Exploding, it's not about delete and that's all.

You are free to redistribute anything what is published in curefans.com with the simple condition to keep the original format of which the show/songs were published. In this forum we have a very clear policy about lossy formats (mp3, ogg) and to convert a song posted here as wav to mp3, and then redistribute it, it's wrong.

In the other hand, is not nice to publish something and not even give the credits to the person who published something originally.

In conclusion, feel free to re-distribute it whatever you want, as soon as you keep the original format and give the corresponding credits to the person who originally uploaded the show/songs.

Hi, i went to the 20-10-07 show, i´ve been a fan of the cure since 1988, i was 17 years old then, so it was a long wait to finally see the cure live, it was a great show, not the best setlist of the three shows, but still great for me,

Fascination Street: always a favorite, not the best version

Lovesong
Pictures of you
Lullaby
just beuatiful, lots of memories

Maybe someday: i miss the piano

The hanging garden: rocks
Push: party all over the place
How beautiful you are: really miss the keyboards in this one

Inbetween days
Just like heaven
the waiting was too long, what can i say, amazing

The kiss: Robert and simon rocks, what a show

One hundred years
End
Just Hypnotic

Let's go to bed
Close to me
Why can't I be you?
Three imaginary boys
Fire in Cairo
Boys don't cry
Jumping someone else's train
Grinding halt
10.15 Saturday night
Killing an Arab

Will these Mexico recordings ever be availible elsewhere besides Dimeadozen?   Everytime I try to join I get this:

"We are very sorry!

At the moment, there are at least 100,100 registered users at www.dimeadozen.org, the maximum allowed under DIME's current configuration.

However, free slots become available for new users daily as inactive accounts are deleted. When DIME has fewer than 100,100 registrants, new users can sign up. Please note that the statistics on DIME's web site are updated every ten minutes; therefore, you may see this message even if the web site reports fewer registered users than the maximum.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

Dimeadozen is a torrent tracker that you need to register to get in.  There is a limited number of accounts but if you keep trying every 10 minutes it shouldn't take you more than a few hours to get one.  Once you are in you need to take care of your ratio, so keep your torrents open, don't get greedy, and make sure you can open a port in your firewall.

Thank you for offering to put it on your site--careful not to let your computer explode! Also thank you for recording the show!

In the meantime, I'll continue to try Dime.  But that torrent site just makes me so frustrated.  I feel like I'm missing out on "the next big thing", but can't grab it.  Like sand falling through your fingers.  Ya think you got it, then it slips away.  (<<<Poetic or pathetic, your choice.)

This is a really good point and I'd recommend that anyone going to a show, especially more than one, consider taking ear plugs.  Those stacks are loud and 3 hours of it can leave your ears ringing for several days.  When the music finally stops you realise that all you can hear is a constant humming noise and everyone is talking muffled.  This can't be good for your ears.  Every show I went to in australia left me with ringing ears after it, but the worst for me was my 3rd and last one, Sydney 2, where I was on the barrier and took 3 days to get over it.

Would it be as bad if your at the back or seated, or is it mainly on the floor?

The closer you get to the stacks, the louder it is.  I can post a sample so you can hear exactly what I am talking about.  For the second night, the guy that bought my ticket for me was stuck in traffic and was late.  We missed Plainsong.  Towards the end of plainsong, I ran into the mens room to hook up my gear.  I started recording as I walked out of the can (or loo to you Brits and Aussies).  You can hear Prayers distant at first, then progressively louder as I walk from the back of the floor to the 4th row, right in front of the stacks.

I'll post that sample in the next day or 2....I'm out of here momentarily to go see She Wants Revenge!

With concerts played increasingly ( as here in OZ) at outdoor venues, very disappointing.. where the sound is distorted and echoes around the venue.. take for example U2 at the MCG.. ( i fell asleep at 2 U2 concerts in my life!!) Concerts when I was a young lass WERE loud, and I enjoyed thye volume of sound at the Cure gig here... LOUD but not damaging to hearing ??!! I suppose I'll find out in the next few years if the Cure had anything to do with that.. but I was not sitting near the stacks, but quite close in the stalls and it was AWESOMELY loud  :rocker

Nope no cut.  Sorry about that.  I was keeping track of the setlist by entering notes on my cellphone.  After Fascination Street I wrote cut, but that was a note to myself regarding my recording... :smth011

Hello J, thanks for the recording at Dime of Mexico night 1.
I have some questions about your recording.

1) You say you wrote "cut" in the setlist regarding your recording, but when I heard this concert from Dime I did not hear any cut in the recording, is this correct ?

2) At Dime the tracks of your recording starts at #2 (Tape & Open), there is no #1, is there supposed to be #1?

3)On my CD (after I've deleted the FLAC files so I can't check) in Fire In Cairo there is some silent gaps at 1min45sec, 1min47sec, 1min51sec, 1min53sec, is this in the FLAC files I downloaded or maybe I need to downlaod again?

4) Just a note to you, I think in your recording you make Close To Me and Why Can't I Be You? both on 1 track?, or maybe something with my CD burner broke?

Thank-You.

1)  Right after the show, I posted the setlist that I had entered into the notepad of my cellphone as the show went on.  In the phone, after Fascination Street, I wrote cut.  In my rush to post the setlist, I originally wrote that they played cut.  All it was was a note to myself.  The cut is about a 1 second cut in the crowd after fascination street, so no music is lost.

2)  There is not a #1.  Track one was nothing but the people next to me talking (I started the recording a few minutes early).

3)  Wow.  I missed those ones.  You are correct, sir.  That is right were the bad sectors are on the iRiver HD, thus the little skips.  They are on the master as well.

4)  Yup.  Busted again.  I guess in my rush to put this up here, I forgot to split that track!

Thank you also Jeff  :smth023

I was on the floor at Melb, and also my friend and i both had ringing ears, for at least 40hrs after,
I like that sort of thing- like a scar or something, (friend whinged alot) you know you feel you done the best you could,
enjoyed it as much as you could- sort of thing, so i didnt mind, had it before and will again.   :rocker

But would be damaging if i went to more than one at a time- think i would
be deaf or have that ringing as a permanent feature, backdrop soundtrack. Would drive you mad eventually. :smth020

Hope you feel better soon drowning.
Sending you lots of love.

I was very busy in the work these week but today I made a selection of my best photos of The Cure's concert 20/Oct/2007. I took these photos from the 5th row at the center of the stage.

This is the link for the photos, (100 MB aprox. at 8.1 megapixeles each one)

Hi to everybody, as you can see im a new member of this forum...

Now,i juyst wanted to say tha i got the reply from some guy who has the 3 nights on video and MD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmAAXiUHwl8

But basically, he's asking for $3,000 pesos each video(something like 250 dollars)...

Also, he has video of the 3 nights at the same venue from 2004, im just guessing if this guy is the same who has unreleased masters of those 3 nights?¿

Of course i will not pay that ammount of money for a copy of these videos, in fact, ive never payed a cent for any of my 400 bootlegs... anyways mzybe we can make a donation fund so we can buy these vids and then upload them at DIME?¿

Just an idea... but i hope to have these 6 videos (3 from 2004)someday...

I forgot to mention the saddest thing about this, he told me that he has "another" (other than his)version of the 20 oct gig, and he gladly will sellit to me for $100 pesos (10 dollars aprox)which is kind of sad because i bet my left thumb that this recording is J's :(

Also, is funny that he says something like "i'm selling these vids at that price because once i have sold them, theyr'e going to be pirated over and over again"

But, apparently is ok for him to download somebody else's recording and sell it... anyways, he's just trying to make some bucks out of his recordings, and other's recordings as well.. i feel sorry about this shit...

Here's the (translated) letter CharcoalFace got from this thief:

---

Hello how are you,

Look, I have all the three shows COMPLETED, but at the moment I won't pass them, I will wait for a reasonable offer, I don't ask less than 3000 mexican pesos for each one (280US$), because after all everyone will have copy of them and all the effort I did hiding a video camera (that is not that little) and being watching the security guards and controling the minidisc for more than 3 hours will worth just 1US$.

I've had bad experiences and it's not worth the effort that one makes so that others just copy and copy.

The videos are complete from start to end.

You can watch my videos in youtube under the nickname Luigi2008

But don't worry, probably soon someone will release bad recorded video for nor more than  one hour lenght and worth 200 cheap pesos (18US$) and in the end 10 pesos (1US$).

My audio recording in minidisc are absolutely perfect, clean, magnificent quality , and for each one I ask not less than 600 pesos (55US$). There are tree discs, with outstanding quality and has nothing to envy an european recording.

I also have TOTALLY available the 2004 shows both in audio and video, and also the 1992 gig in Monterrey.

I already have an available audio for 20 october, you can buy it for just 100 pesos (10US$), they are 3 cd's.

Regards and hope for your understanding

Luis

Hi, I'm new here too, his name is Luis Peñaflor, he records most of the concerts in Mexico city, both audio and video and he sells them, apparently some people buy them, because he's been doing it for a while now, he has a vending post on El Chopo, a flea market specialized in hard to find music and bootlegs in Mexico city. He sold the REM DVD to an REM fan message board in Mexico about 2 or 3 years ago, that's how I know him, and he tried to sell the DVD and audio recording of U2 to a U2 fan forum, but they didn't do it. I bought the U2 DVD on ebay at $25 USD and distribuited it for free on that forum. He's not really a fan, that's his bussiness.  I won't spend that much on a bootleg, but I have bought some bootlegs in the past, I've been collecting them since I was about 12, and the internet didn't even existed then, the only way to get some bootlegs was to buy them, I even bought some in Florence Italy.

I understand that you don't supoport the buying of bootlegs, but for some of us that's the only way to get some material. Off course asking $3000 pesos for one is insane!

That's true. I also bought some bootlegs in the past. Here in Peru we have this places called the "holes" (huecos) where you could find rare music. I remember in the beginning of the 90's I bring my tape, they record the show there and charged me a fee. But that was in the 90's. Now the Internet makes possible to share this kind of hard-to-find shows for free, without needing to pay money to people who obviously does not give a shit about the artist like this Luis

I've been collecting them since I was about 12, and the internet didn't even existed then, the only way to get some bootlegs was to buy them,

Yeah, for some artist the internet does help, The Cure and U2 have a very susbtantial fan base, and you can find almost anythign on line, but I haven't been able to find any of the 2 Roger Waters DVD's in Mexico city on the net. So the only option I have is to buy them from that guy.

Next saturday I will go to that flea market to see if he's selling it cheaper there and then I will upload it to to my web page to download.

I got an email back from the guy saying how tough security is in his country and he wants to be compensated for his work.  He dropped his price to $250 for me :smth023

Nice to hear that
:) thats exactly what i told him, ive never EVER spend a single cent on recordings...

The best way to beat people like that at their game is to take up the risk and hobby oneself, invest that $ in taping or filming gear, so you don't have to buy it and plus you can easily share with others.

The best story is still this one filmer from U2 world who was soliciting donations for filming seats for the 2005 tour, towards paying scalpers for particular seats. Of course many people frowned asking for money in advance, but it's really not that different from these free market sellers.

By the way why is ebay mexico's site called El Mercardo Libre, = The Free Market? You can find Cure Mexico 04 DVDs on there, probably from the same guy. Gives capitalism a very bad name...

Hopefully, you can complain about this ilegal articles here (http://www.mercadolibre.com.mx/mexico/ml/org_ayuda.main?as_new_tkt=888), which is what I'm going to do now. I hope they will remove those items asap :smth023

The U2 Mexico city DVD bootleg that I bought was from Ebay, not the mexican Ebay, the american one, so they sell bootlegs everywhere.

Anyway, mercadolibre endorse the selling of any ilegal material because they earn a profit and they wil do nothing to stop that. The one negative feedback that I have in my acount there, was because I bid on a U2 ticket they were reselling, which is illegal in Mexico, the guy was asking about a $1000 dollars for the ticket, so I decided to bid and never pay him for that, that way the auction was closed. I got a negative feedback and mercadolibre did nothing about it!

BTW. Capitalism is bad, no need for anything to give it a bad name!  ;)
