it's about this new feature we're trying here, with which you can give credit for helpful posts (or maybe also on the contrary).
intructions will follow soon i'm sure... please watch this section for more news...
meanwhile, please don't just shoot away every time you see someone you've seen before and please don't clickclickclickclick away just for fun because it's not set to work every 5 seconds or not even in every 15 minutes.
maybe try to think of it not as fast food but something a bit more gourmet - so maybe save it for some special occasion...
it's not a competition and it's not about who posts most or who has most friends here. it's simply something you use when you've found something helpful from the forum - or the other way round.
but it's not a game or something set up just for entertainment and fun.
thanks everyone and please have some patience. :smth001
okay from 1 to -2 in seconds, wow okay, so this mean i can take one of mine back, when i didnt know what it was.?
thats not nice.
Hey i didnt know what it was, god. Iam not the only one wondering, or who had clicked, am i being punished for each click ? wtf ?
ok whatever.
and when i wrote the above, i had no idea what i was- neither did alot of people.????
Ok i accidently clicked Steve to see wat would happen, so what.
Japanesebaby why wont you answer my personal messsage instead of making a mockery of me??????????????????????????????
I don't understand this karma....

hey i am NOT making mockery of you! and yes i have answered your pm. :!: actually i've sent you two pms already, please read those.
please note it takes a few minutes to write a pm, even if i read your pm right away and maybe i'm not at my computer all the time even if i'm logged in. please.
look, i've posted here trying to give some instructions about this thing, as much as we have at the moment.
like i already said, it's not a game or it's a competition.
:rocker fuk it being liked is over-rated anyway. I want Smits- DO IT- I am trying to reach -50
Just another number in society TO IGNORE... and strive for honesty,
or "i got a good idea- lets suk each others butts and rate it" :smth023
Why does it matter, arent we all equal- i dont like excuses to single people out via numbers,
we have names. I liked thinking we were all equal here....?
everyone:
it's not possible that one single person makes another go several notches down within minutes. the feature is set so that it must take several hours between karma clicks. this is to prevent people clicking on each other all the time.
i'm sorry for the upset feelings rogue and i've just sent you a third pm for it.
but i didn't make you go to -2 just by clicking you several times in a row. because it's simply impossible, ok?
i see you've clicked -1 for me for reward and well, i can't help that. anyway, i didn't make you go on the negative side.
too bad this thing is going wrong from the start. :(
i've tried to post a little bit info here to give people some idea of what this feature is, yet i find myself in the line of fire. well, ok.
i guess we can just all learn here what this sort of anonymous features can do, if we're not careful about their use. :!:
so let's try to use it wisely in the future.
we really wanted to make this something that could be helpful here.
please people let's take it easy with this thing for a while, before we get more instructions here.
let's stop fighting and do what we all have to do to set things nice again. we don't need extra hassle/bad feelings about this thing.
i have to say i really don't feel so great about this today either.
thanks everyone. :smth001
(i'm out of here for now because this made my feelings sink too. i hope david7caley will post some more precise news about this feature soon so we will avoid things like this happenieng again. later folks.)
ROGUE, i came back since i found a way to prove it was not me who smite you:
look at your karma, i've just given you a plus. if i had been smiting you before, it would be impossible because one can't click the same person several times within the same 10 hours.
ok?

Thank you for saying that in your previous msg, but the msg before that i was +2, so i wasnt asking about -2, anyway thank you for msg.
I just think this is pretentious and will loose alot of newbies, and upset alot of people.
thanx, thats the way i feel.
Its like people can suddenly gang onto anyone !! Thats awful, numbers,..... still going for broke anyone ? take me to -50 and i will feel good, Really, iam at my best when the world is against me. xoxo
THANX ANYWAY JAPANESEBABY - appreciate that, but still, i dont like this feature,
Sincerely Thank you so much for talking me through. :smth023

Please dont take offense, i didnt accuse you, at all, I just didnt understand.

Just one opinion.
thank you
Hey, whoa there!!! Please please please do not let this site sink into the gurgling depths the other has. Please, don't get angry over something that really isn't that important.Well,it doesn't appear to be; to me anyway..take a look at me... 3 posts so far..I doubt I will ever get anything next to my name!!! But, do I care?? Nahhh..I come here to enjoy the people and their comments about such a wide variety of subjects on the one thing that brings everyone here together. The Cure and their music. That's how I look at it anyway;it isn't that important who has how many "thinggies" is it? Really? Take a deep breath... relax...
Thanks for all the info.
I understand now. Just seems it might need a bit of regulating I suppose.
Well, that fairly normal for experiments right?
As for the friction I appear to have caused, I apologise.
I do hope we don't end up resenting each other. This place is (IMHO) a really good place full of really interesting & diverse people with one single passion in common.
Let's not lose sight of that.

I didn't know what it was all about when it was introduced. Karma is supposed to represent spirituality. This all seems bit negative, even if well-meant, IMHO I beginning to think this good place to be too Steve. One thing in common.
:smth020
This is a feature that is used on many forums. The idea behind it is to reward good, meaningful posts, and "punish" meaningless or ill-spirited posts.
For example:
1. I post a link to a show I've uploaded....click on applaud for me. Brent Graham posts those links all over the interet, click smite for him.
2. A member posts asking a question in the technical forum regarding seeding torrents. Another member answers the question and helps the person out. The original poster should click applaud. If another member types a smart ass remark, click smite.
It is a way to NOT have this site sink to the depths of the other Cure related forums out there. It is not a mechanism to hook up your friends; rather it is the mechanism that is needed to keep this forum up to the standards that we have all come to expect and desire.
by definition: smite: Strike, hit, chastise, have sudden effect on, strike or seize or infect or possess with disease or desire or emotion. Come forcibly or abruptly. Blow, strike attempt.
this is the English definition and personal meaning of the word "smite" . It is as clear as this....
@j
You already got an applause from me, so you'll need to wait another 10 hours ;)
But, I see the point & it's a really nice touch actually.
Thanks Steve. In reference to the smite definition, I think that the terminology applaud and smite are default "words" used by the forum software. I could be wrong about that, though. Maybe we could change it to "shove it up your ass" or "go f yourself" :-D

way toooooooooooooo harsh!! (please don't "shove it up my ass" or tell me to " go f myself"()
I think this feature is just a light "joke", a little nice idea. Why someone is offended by this? Isn't a school report card and I suppose nobody will be successful student or failed. ;)

thanks jeff for putting it up so much more clearly than i ever could have. :smth023
as we're not on AOL live chat here but on a forum that has set some standards for what comes to the content/informativeness, then i think we can try and learnt to use this feature in a sophisticated way, like jeff suggested.
(and about default words: i think they can be changed to something else if we see it fit.)
If this karma thing don't work out maybe it could get deleted??? :!:

If this karma thing don't work out maybe it could get deleted??? :!:
naturally. it's just a test at the moment, so let us see if it works.
and whereas we should try to use the feature wisely, i also think it shouldn't affect people too much, really. i mean look, i can see i mentioned a metaphor about AOL live chat a few inutes ago and some people probably found this annoying and so i'm already down a few nothces. ;) but hey so what? because i didn't say that to annoy anyone in particular, i was just speaking what was in my mind. so i mean, people should not be too afraid to say something just because they feared they might be getting bad karma from someone - or try to compete in getting good karma either.
we're not rating people here. and if we're rating something, then we're rating the content of the posts. not the people themselves. but one doesn't have to see it as if we were directly rating anything at all.
all i'm saying is that it might become a problem if people don't speak their mind because they fear someone will disagree and smite then. because in my opinion, healthy debates belong to forums, they keep the conversation up. but i do mean healthy debates. we are a large community so there will always be people who will disagree with you about something. so i'd suggest that people shouldn't get so upset so easily.
so let's just take it easy and see how we will do here. let's just not be aggressive towards each other but wait and see things out a bit first.
:smth001
Well it is annonomous, so who knows what will actually motivate people ?
and why not just be helpful for the sake of it ?
Do we need motivation to be helpful for the sake of a 'karma' ?
We grow to know people and learn from experience, this is a bit strange? And being annonomous could be nasty, and invalid to the meaning of good and bad(+ or -) that was posted above.
People will be judged on this number you realise :smth011
Noone will ever know why anyone has voted or not,
doesnt make sense, at all.
and doesnt seem welcoming, or free to express ourselfs- Some will fear the minus.
Iam still striving for it, Really- means nothing,
The whole idea is offensive to me.
still just my opinion. Thank you
edit~ no aggression intended, have sent many msg's - so Jb i like you- But in the idea of debates i agree- That is why iam expressing my feelings.

Rogue, this feature is in beta testing, it means, if people in curefans.com find it useful and a good way to recognize other's members work in this forum, then we will keep this feature. If most of you think it sucks, we will disable the feature.
David, I like the feature. It's a way of seeing who is a helpful member around the forum. Looking at someones total number of posts doesn't equate to a valuable member. But let's remember this isn't a popularity contest. And please no trolls  (Trolls = someone that just goes around handing out smite for the hell of it).
Brian-
Funny how like minds think. I was just typing the text below when I was notified that there was a post added while I was typing! Here's what I was doing when you posted:
**************************************************************************************
I was just thinking and realized that it really isn't much more different than listing the amount of posts that you have made. However, you may have 1000 posts, and of that, 750 of them are simple "Thank you" posts. Is that meaningful? Sometimes. Is it meaningful 750 times? No.
By adding this feature, you are sort of being held accountable. Will it stop the simple thank you posts? No. Should those stop? Maybe (this is a personal issue amongst some people). Should someone get a smite on them for posting a thank you? Absolutely not.
What I am trying to say is that your karma rating should theoretically be more indicative of your involvement in the discussions on this site. I may have 700+ posts, but who's to say that those 700 posts were meaningful and helpful? But, if I had a karma rating of 700, then I would be pretty happy.
Maybe (& I have thought about this) we could simply eliminate the smite option & just leave the applaud option.
That would at least add a more positive element & remove the potential headaches caused by indiscriminate smiting (or "carpet-smiting" as I think it's technically known as.)

I AGREE ON THIS.. APPLAUDES, BUT NO SMITE.. REPLIES GIVEN BUT NO SMITE, OR NEGATIVE KARMA..IT DOESN'T SEEM ETHICAL... KARMA IS VERY SENSITIVE..THAT'S WHY IT TRIGGERED SUCH A RESPONSE, IMHO , TAKING AWAY FROM WHAT THIS SITE REALLY MEANS AND REPRESENTS. :smth023

no your idea, but the idea of karma in general!
What if we change the terminology? Change Karma to something else. Change smite to "Lol's farts" or "Robert in spandex bicycle shorts"? I make these suggestions in jest, but it there is also a hint of truth. I get the impression that alot of people are hung up on the actual words- karma, applaud, smite. They are just words. However, if it will help make this program easier for everyone to swallow, maybe we should look into changing the words themselves.

this place has been here for... well, for several years actually (if you take your time and browse back into the archives, we didn't start about two months ago). and i don't see how it changed with this little addition. :smth017
and really no offense but why are people instantly like someone's after them, like people were suddenly threatening each other here? like crowbi said, we are the same people here as we were yesterday, right? so who's after you? :?:
i think the fact that we're trying out such a feature shows that we trust our members and trust that people will know how to use it and will respect each other. actually, i think that should go without anyone even saying it.
all i want to say is that i've been really tired about this all day and i still don't get all the controversy going on here.
i've started to pick up some patterns that are seriously making me think things over here... (posted somewhere else about it).
i'm especially concerned about certain hints towards "club forming" because of this.
because that sort of things do not belong to curefans. :smth011
if there's any club here then it's one big club where everyone here belongs.
and everyone (at least those who've been here long enough!) should really know this.
Well said, Brian and Marika!
I'm not so long a member here, but i think the karma thing is a good idea.
Hope i did understand it right.
You can click applaud when you find a post helpful and smite when you don't, is that right?
Or is it also when you e.g. ask something about the cure and someone answer that question?
Sorry, for these stupid questions .
And i don't think that would arouse a club.
Once again it's a good idea :)
By the way the word smite sounds in German brutal :)
I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. The last thing a depressed teen needs is to be rated on a website. I came here as an escape from all that, but now it's here too! Aaaagh!
I just want to be liked! I'm a nice guy! This karma thing is pressuring! :(
Please don't smite me. Ooh,,,I really don't like this.

i'm not sure why people are so afraid of "being rated". we're not rating people here, that should go without saying.
it's a community thing, not a thing connected to your personality: it's a way or crediting those people who contribute to the community.
i'd like to believe people here have respect to each other so i find it hard to imagine that people would somehow just jump on misusing this feature instantly for some weird evil purposes or whatever. why should they? pretty much everyone here knows everyone else - at least among people who post commonly.
we're not rating people.
take it easy CV. :smth001

Hey Carnage. This is not the school, take it easy :smth001
There's not rating, there's not a "better member" or a "better person". As Marika stated, the karma thing is just to give the credit to the persons who collaborate more in the forum. For instance, if you share a Cure show, instead getting a "thank you", you get an "applause". That's the same thing.
Take it easy man, come on, this is just a simple forum, not a place where you will be punished.
I am now curious as to what I did to get the -1 rating...
Really makes a person feel welcomed.
Again guys, this is not some popularity contest or some sort of attempt to make anyone feel bad, though I can see how it could be misconstrued as such. Think of it like this, you make an intelligent post or provide information another member is seeking, the other member should reward you with good karma. If you mock the person, expect bad karma. Of course this is just one example of when to applaud/smite a member. This is all really just a way to thank members w/o all of those thank you posts (Or, maybe a way to get people to say more than just "thanks"). Guys, give it some time. If you are an active member that provides value to Curefans you'll see those karma points rise. Those hanging around doing nothing but wasting the time of the people who really enjoy this site and what it is meant for might not. And even if you do get some negative points, is it the end of the world? People are always going to disagree about things. Get over it, move on with your life and stop worrying what others think about you. As long as you feel good about yourself and believe in what you say there's really nothing more you can do.
Firstly, let me say, I think this is the BEST cure fan site I have come across...as I have said elsewhere. I am not an expert on The Cure like so many others. I cannot reel off songs and concerts like so many others here.I haven't been to scores of concerts..only one, in Adelaide, South Australia. And that blew me away I might add!! I do have a "link" with Robert however. Do I feel "threatened" on this site? Not at all. That's why I come here. I totally understand what this karma thing is all about; but I see that too many are not happy about it, feeling they need to "perform" somehow. I really think that no matter how many times it is explained, it will not be accepted by some. It has been taken personally and misunderstood. And when that happens, resentment can take over. Please don't let that happen here. Perhaps the wizards who created and run this site may have to delete the karma rating? Please...keep it peaceful and a good place to come to... Thanx...melly

And I'm sorry I'm not full of Cure information to post 24/7. I'm a very shy person. Plus I've only been here a few months so I'm still trying to feel my way around. Perhaps after I've been here for a while and gotten more comfortable and gotten to know everyone here better, then I will post more and stop "wasting time". So, I
aplogize now if you think I am just wasting everyone's time. If I am, tell me and I will gladly leave.

Perhaps after I've been here for a while and gotten more comfortable and gotten to know everyone here better, then I will post more and stop "wasting time". So, I aplogize now if you think I am just wasting everyone's time. If I am, tell me and I will gladly leave.
(Interesting. My -1 is gone....)
No need to be shy here, nobody knows who you are. Ah, the beauty of the world wide web. Speak your mind. My "wasting time" comment wasn't directed towards you. As a matter of fact I applaud you for becoming a regular member here. I recoginize your nick from MFC and am always happy to see people branching out from that place :smth023
I confirm: take it easy folks!
Karma isn't a "liking-meter".
All people there are different (with merits and faults), but we form nice community with great passion in common. :smth023 :smth020

exactly.
i've said this elsewhere in this forum but i'll say it here again: so many of us have bad experiences on some other forums/cure sites. curefans.com was originally created to offer an alternative, a place where none of all that shit goes on (for instance all the crap that comes and goes with the official site).
so you don't have to worry about people's motivations here. let's not bring this mindset in this place because we don't need it.
so there's really nothing there for you to apologize for, iwannashagsimon.
just relax all, let us trust each other and together keep creating the good spirit here, as we have done in the past.
after all, it's all of us who make this place together and it's all of us who take care of this place and it's special atmosphere. :rocker

I don't care my karma, look like i have it bad way but hehe it not mean to me nothing. :-D
I just read my news and forum but I not care some karma points which i have. for me is fun only.
But i think is ok thing for forum
I often see some other site in web who use it too and it work ok.
thanks.
This karma points thing doesn't bother me. I think it's a nice gesture for saying thank you.

Same thoughts here!
I got to thinking.. you know that movie; "Mickey Blue Eyes" with Hugh Grant? where he tries to play/imitate a mafia guy and he tries to say these words " Just four-get abouwt it "? it makes me think of these things and always makes my son and I laugh to just forget about it and close the subject.. It's over with .. LET IT GO!! :smth023

:smth006 Hi, everyone. I'm honestly NOT trying to drag this topic on, but I do have an honest suggestion. Seeing how this whole "karma" thing is still in the beta version anyway and we're still testing it out... maybe a change could be made to show the number of "applauses" or "smites" next to the actual comment it was intended for?? Just a thought seeing how that would actually make more sense to me - otherwise it gets distracting seeing someone's karma number the same for every comment. Makes me wonder what topic or comment I've missed that could've been useful information and vice-versa. :D
Anyway...just a thought. Really just tryin' to be constructive. Thanx!!

You mean you would like a system where any user can rate comments?...Hmm, that's not bad idea.
Actually YouTube -for example- allows you ro rate an user's comments with a + or -. We will take a look if we can do something like that in this forum. Thanks for the suggestion :smth023

I just think this place was awsum as it was. :rocker
So is it any less awesome now? The staff is just trying something new. It doesn't take anything away from the site. The same people are here talking about the same stuff. And in my opinion Curefans is still the best Cure site in the around :rocker
this place has been here for... well, for several years actually (if you take your time and browse back into the archives, we didn't start about two months ago). and i don't see how it changed with this little addition. :smth017
and really no offense but why are people instantly like someone's after them, like people were suddenly threatening each other here? like crowbi said, we are the same people here as we were yesterday, right? so who's after you? :?:
i think the fact that we're trying out such a feature shows that we trust our members and trust that people will know how to use it and will respect each other. actually, i think that should go without anyone even saying it.
all i want to say is that i've been really tired about this all day and i still don't get all the controversy going on here.
i've started to pick up some patterns that are seriously making me think things over here...
~Yes, thanks for reminding me, iam well aware Curefans is over 2 months old- I have read here before, but only recently joined.
But really does it matter, how long someone has been here ? If this is 'one big club' .(it shouldnt matter?)
I state i like it here, as i do.
My opinion is no less valid because of my length of time, Or any Newbies contributions- shouldnt be judged to start with, or just because
they are new ?
Anyway, no hard feelings, It is just my opinion.
I have apologized for my reaction the other day- I have a life other than here, please realise, and have received some bad news.
So this doesnt matter so much- but there has been others feeling 'not so good' over it, is it worth it?
Take care everyone.
p.s. dont think there is any need to dramatise this anymore, you ? No, btw i dont "feel anyone is out to get me."
Just feel it is less welcoming and pretential.
Just one opinion.
HAVE FUN
edit~ RE:above...I think its a better idea too, to post a comment next to + or - (like youtube)
and then at least its not annonomous and pointless (how would you know otherwise...ie trolls, etc- also a reference to another post)
@rogue:
just quickly:
no i didn't meant my opinion (or anyone else's) is better than yours because i've been here longer. it's not of question of value, of course not. what i meant is: people who have been here longer might see some things with more perspective than newbies who just joined. because look: pretty much the only people here who seemed to be loudly worried about this and afraid of trolls and afraid of some people maybe starting to play nasty games now or people starting to form clubs, the only people who mentioned this were newbies. if you read the comments, did you notice any of the long-time members being afraid of these things? no i don't they were, just look at other members reactions - nobody was freaking out. so maybe that speaks about something don't you think? if long-time members are not worried about that sort of club forming or nasty things spiringing out of this, doesn't it tell you something about the atmosphere here?
so let's not start any club recruiting or troll-hunt or whatever, were we old members or new newbies or something in between.
we've have it nicely here and this really changes nothing.
and about the fear of trolls in general: i think we've been lucky to never have trolls here. people here seem to know how to behave and thank god for that. so all i'm saying the less we talk about "what if they'll come?" the better it might be. at least let's not invite them here by shouting out their names.
but i think scatcat was right and this conversation should be pretty much wrapped up already and we should all maybe concentrate on something more interetsing for everyone.
(ps. i think we can all read normally sized letters very well enough. so you don't need to shout at us. ;))
Ahhh..so well said japanesebaby...take a bow...simple,to the point,and eloquently put...
and that, my friends, is that.... :smth038
Ok Thank you Japanesebaby glad my contributions are just are valid and equal-
I guess that is why i felt the need for larger letters, because i write fewer words.
Forgive me, but why these options available if not meant to be used ? (type size, colour etc)
The word 'troll' was mentioned previously within this thred, So thats not my thought - At all. -already made reference to that.
But good visualization of how things can, and will be taken out of context.
iam not sure you realise this, but alot of people are afraid, Now, of saying the wrong thing.
And frightened of you., and being kicked out of here from having a individual thought differing to
yours.
I want to speak freely so please dont take offense, This is not what i want.
You can remove this post if you like, but i rather be honest with you, and i do respect you point of view,
but not sure you see mine.

you say to me, I have not said., and this makes me explain myself again and again.

like i said, i won't keep this going for the sake of it because i don't see why this topic should be kept running around in circles. but once more:
i'm not sure what this "lot of people" are. please: like i said, our older members have not expressed any such freak-out feelings towards this. we've only picked this sentiment coming from a couple of more or less newbies who obvously haven't settled here and obviously haven't looked around well enough yet.
and moreover, i don't get why anyone should be afraid of ME (or any other mod!) here. :? :smth011  :!:
what on earth is that supposed to mean? well to be honest i find it almost insulting about hints like that, that anyone should have to suspect me or any other mod here about something like this. :!: sorry but if i'm really honest this is starting to turn into ridiculous.
please go and read what j said here:
http://www.curefans.com/index.php/topic,3652.msg33037.html#msg33037
i couldn't put it any better than he did. ok?
ok?
and being afraid to be "kicked out here" (or getting smited) for having a different opinion than someone else? i'm sorry i don't understand this at all, not at all. this is
exactly the sort of paranoia that is now brought here from some other boards, something that people want(?) to drag here into this place too - please don't do it because we don't have it here, we don't need it here ok?
this is exactly what i meant when i said that maybe people who have been here longer than you have more perspective on things going on in THIS forum and on the discussion culture that THIS forum has. this is not some fucked up place where people stab each other in every single turn. we do NOT have to drag some other forums' problems here and start fearing something imaginary - that's what i meant when i said "don't invite the trolls".
and if you think the karma system is up for "applaud for all who agree with you, smite all who disagree with you" then i'm sorry but i have to say you have truly understood the whole thing somewhat wrong! :!:
because it's not that. it's not some kind of switch you are "supposed" to hit everytime you read someone's post - you don't need to "rate" every single post in this board/forum. you just use it when you find something that qualifies ok? you can even choose not to use it ever. it's just an option, not some sort of obligation. besides, if people use it too much it only causes inflation - so let's use it wisely.
but please go back and read what has been said about it in this thread. it's all been explained/described enough times already so i think i (or any other mod) don't go through the trouble of explaining it again.
let's not continue creating this drama about non-existent problems. look around: we don't have any problems or intrigues here so why should we create any?
i try and want to keep my tone frinedly because i do NOT have ill will against anyone. but if i'm truly honest, i do feel like locking this damn topic by now because this is just going on in circles, honestly. whereas i'm always more than glad to help anyone who has a question about anything here and people shouldn't hesitate to contact if they do have a question or two, but i'm also getting a wee bit tired of explaining this same thing over and over again for the same people and using a huge amount of my my online time on this thing. this forum is here for the cure and i'm here for the cure, we are here for the cure. that's what brings us together. so let's cut this drama because there's nothing really to base it on. nothing has happened, nothing has changed. look at our older members rogue: they are just continueing as they always were - shouldn't that tell you something?
we do have a settled way to run this place. and we will continue as we have so far ok? nothing's changed.
let's not keep rocking the boat here with this because we have no reason for that.
keep it cool people. and why don't we leave this topic for now.
like melly said "
that, my friends, is that".
case closed.
:smth001
Thanx,
just letting you know the feed back i am getting,
so it must be very important this 'karma', seeing as though its upsetting alot of people.
ok, bye for now. :smth041 is ok if i use emoticons ? just joking, is ok ? ok hey hey :D
I think David has a good idea - similiar to youtube- comments, otherwise there is nothing stopping emotional or whatever smites,
thats all. Annon + & - doesnt help anyone to improve themselfs or whatever.
As i said yes iam new, but have read here for a long time. Over and Out.
Byes thank you for time, but making newbies feel insecure, makes me ask- Does this place want newbies ? or just happy as is,
then close the gates, if so, and not let anymore in.
I thought topics are here to debate and understand. Case closed ?
I guess it cant be explained, then, But genuinely Thanks anyway. Maybe someone else will.

ok this is really the last comment i'll make here now:
i don't understand what you are implying with "does this place what newbies?" - karma has nothing to do with who's a newbie and who's not. "close the gates" - that's insane. why are you implying to this "club forming" again? because this thing has nothing to do with it.
you really must have understood the whole karma thing somehow wrong, that's all i can think of, sorry. or i get a feeling that you see threats looming out there everywhere(?). this is something that could be very good if used wisely but why stare only into all these "what ifs"? and just like it was some sort of attitude around here to "smite the newbies and applaud the old friends" - just PLEASE go back and read what has been said all along: karma is NOT something you clickclickclickclickclick everytime you see a friend or someone you know already - it's related to post CONTENT and not to persons. ok? don't make it a club thing. i cannot deny that it theoretically could be misused for something like that too - but we wouldn't have put it up here if we didn't trust our member to use it right ok? this seems to be clear to our old members but newbies seem to be afraid - because they haven't looked around here.
i really cannot see how this sort of little feature could be seen something that disencourages new people to join - sorry but i honestly don't get the idea behind that.
and why bring this "club" thing up again and again? no offense relly, but i honestly do not see no-one else than you keeping this idea (of fear) up here. :?:
no we don't want clubs in here and we don't want to support that sort of attitude. so people should understand what this karma thing is before they start using it. using it for some club purposes means you're using it wrong. so don't so that, please.
you know this all makes me think: just what if this karma thing had been running here all along, before you ever came here?
i bet it wouldn't be such a complete fuss then as it has been now. it would have been recognized as part of this forum.
as it should be now too.
NOW: closed.
and PLEASE no more posts with more or less repeated content/opinions only. i'm a patient person but i'm really getting a wee bit tired of repeating myself just because i go misunderstood time after time. and sorry i'm not going to hang around here and discuss this all through my saturday.
so please let's move along folks :smth079 ;) and so we don't need to lock this topic.
My only question being, "if it makes people miserable, what is so important about 'karma'.?"
by people i refer to several, obvious isnt it ?
So it must be very important then ? or necessary, which is fine, just wondered why it is so important.?
I never thought this place was going bad- why fix it, if it aint broke ?
Thats all i have wanted to know. Why is this so important- That it doesnt matter if people and the atmosphere is
effected., Just why ?
I have wanted to know.
Thats all, its gone side tracked several times, maybe i should have ignored all that.
anyway still the question remains, obviously wont be answered,
ok case closed.
this is getting a little too silly :smth020
