Like crowbi_wan, I have 2 concerts that I am undecided about as well.  I may be able to swing Rosemont and/or Fort Lauderdale.  And the wife has been talking about going to Europe for our 10th wedding anniversary, which happens to be 04 Feb.  I'm trying to talk her in to either the weekend of the 9th or the 16th to be able to swing Stockholm or Berlin :-D

I'm going to 8 ...

15.02.2008 Hamburg - Color Line Arena (Germany)
16.02.2008 Berlin - Arena Berlin (Germany)
04.03.2008 Marseille - Le Dome (France)
06.03.2008 Madrid - Palacio de los Deportes (Spain)
08.03.2008 Lisboa - Pavilhão Atlântico (Portugal)
10.03.2008 Barcelona - Palau Sant Jordi (Spain)
12.03.2008 Paris - Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy (France)
14.03.2008 Antwerpen - Sportpaleis (Belgium)

Well, a few things are allowing me to see so many shows, having a lot of money isn't one.  It's just that I haven't done much traveling in a while and pushing back the tour allowed me to save up more vacation days.  On the other hand, I'm now thinking I should've gone to Vegoose a few weeks back (Rage Against the Machine, Muse) instead of so many Cure gigs.  Oh well, pretty sure I won't be complaining about that in a few months.

Pretty sure JJ holds that record for his travels in 1996.  That dude went to 30+ shows!   Or maybe Thierry Clavelle that same year?  I don't know, but there are several fans that follow the band around while they're on tour.

The most I did was 10 shows in 1992.  Right now I am definitely doing 6 in 2008, possibly as many as 9 or 10.  I am lucky that I have an understanding wife!

WOW!!! I'm impressed and slightly envious...so many Cure shows you are going to!! We have only been to one, here in Australia, and that was FANTASTIC!! Those of us who are on the other side of the world will be with you all in "spirit"!! Will Curefans t-shirts be either thrown onto the stage or given to security to pass on to the band at any of these shows??

But I just have to wait till another month.. to find out school holidays here, for next year.. availability for tickets, etc.. BUT if I can make it with another close curefan... I will call in help from this community.. it seems like it will have to be the US leg of the tour.. so.. if anyone has available tix for the latter shows... I may be able to get there!!

Thought it was a nice idea, to share with you all that Rowal will be present in Antwerpen (14-3-2008) and Rotterdam (18-3-2008).
Not my first show. Saw Robert and Co. in 1980, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989,
1990 (twice), 1992, 1995, 1996 (twice), and 2002. Due ti illnesses I missed 1981 and 2000.
Okee, that was basically all.

Have a woooonderful time!! :smth020 :smth023

Take pix and show them!! I'd like to share something with you: Last night I was watching Festival 2005 (amazing!) and I asked my mom, "Would you like to come with me to a Cure concert?" and she just said "OK, if you pay for it" I never expected that answer  ... She convinced so easily :P. So, my mom will be in NY with me on June (I hope that she doesn't get scare).

Regards!

Ok all you lovely people meeting up can I ask one request, though I know I won't be alone with this. Can we have some curefan happy snaps from the meetings please? I mean the fact that I am insanely jealous that you all get the chance to do this, although I loved my day with Cherry Red and Kissing Crimson at the Melbourne concert, I think it would be nice :D . Along with the obligatory photos of the concert itself. :smth059

What about this place?

http://goparis.about.com/od/nightlifeinparis/gr/Au_Petit_Garage.htm

It's close, has cheap drinks, and sounds like a pretty cool place

"Despite this Paris bar's prime location, Au Petit Garage still feels like a well-kept secret, full of character and never overcrowded or pretentious".

I don't know about you guys, but I'm a fan of dive bars.  These trendy places with overpriced drinks aren't my cup of tea.

I am seeing a lot of bars, clubs, and cafes in this area.  We can always take a walk down the road if the place we decide on isn't suitable.

oh yes, please no trendy places. i'm sick of trendy places because i don't enjoy being stared at by trendy pretentious look-i'm-better-than-you! kind of people - and besides i'm penniless all the time so overpriced drinks would kill me. well, even though i don't even really drink... anyway!

Hmmm, our hotel is ver tiny.  Not sure that would be a good idea if there's more than just a few of us.

Is there a law against drinking outside, like in a park or some other public place?  Our hostel is located near Canal St. Martin.  Perhaps we could meet at our room and find a nice spot along the canal with some benches?  Looking at some pictures online, hanging out along the canal seems to be quite popular.  And yes, I'm seeing a few with some folks drinking wine.  Depending on the weather, this could be an affordable option.

hanging outside might be ok if it was summer... not sure how warm it is in march... (?). i've been to paris in january and it was pretty cold then. of coursemarch can be different, what do i know.
anyway, i suppose we can see how it is when we get there.
thinking of this, and if we are talking about a public curefans meeting here(?), then i'd say we could arrange a meeting in some decently-priced bar one time/for starters, then see if we can arrange something else in a hotel/somewhere else later. we don't have to spend the whole night in a bar. but it might be a best way to get people together at first(?).

Exactly, it's not like we have to stay at the place we end up meeting at. We might spot a better location while walking around and decide we'd rather go there or, maybe another member has room to accomidate a larger group.  Really, we just need to settle on a place to meet and make sure it's got enough room for everyone.  I do like the idea of starting at a bar, though.

Dude, I think we have to confirm this. I slept in a youth hostel in Paris last time and there was a living room where you could drink and talk, and it was for at least 20 people. Maybe this hotel has something like this, too?.

i was confused for a moment but it looks like you became me for a moment. ;)

i also like the idea of starting in a public place, then moving someplace else if we want.

about the hostel: according to my experiences, these youth hostel "living rooms" can be reserved for people who all live in the hostel, and so inviting a big number of outsiders is maybe not ok. the hotels/hostels can have the right to reserve their properties for their customers only. that's why i would like to start in a public place, where everyone can walk in from the street. i suppose we can all afford one beer in a bar - just as long as it's not a super-trendy place. ;)

The site that I booked through listed a common room.  However, in reading some reviews from this place it doesn't sound like there's much room at all in this common area.  I don't know for sure.

Marika's idea of starting at a bar, then venturing off to another location (someone's hotel) sounds good to me.  I understand people want to save money, but spending time in the hotel doesn't sound very interesting to me.  That's why I was big on the hostel we selected.  It's cheap, good location, and just a place to sleep.  I've never been to Paris, not sure I'll ever make it back, so making the most of my stay only makes sense.

Exactly, that's why I found Au Petit Garage to be someplace that might be suitable.

1)Beer and wine by the glass will set you back a mere 2.50 euros (approx. $3)

2)Full of character and never overcrowded or pretentious.

$3 for a beer is a good price!

me and my buddies are definitely not opposed to anyone showing up to our room at the Wyndam O'Hare for the Chicago show May 17th, 2008.  bring ur tasty beverage and hang out.  they've just made Absinthe Legal here in the U.S. and here in Lincoln, NE we'll be seeing it arrive in about 2 weeks.  the domesticated stuff "Absente" has been around for a few years but the good stuff like Lucid is what i'll probably wait for.  i'll be bringing a bottle, maybe 2 for the show and for my friends.  as long as we don't thrash the place, it should be a blast.  :-D

Just count me out of any parties with alcohol involved.

3. Rotterdam
4. London

Also I will be at the DC gig for the North American tour. So....
1. DC
2. Boston

thanks!  Hope to meet some more great curefans.

Maybe the moderator can move this!

In the USA there are 3 Absinthes available:

1. Lucid
2. Kubler 53
and
a pseudo-Absinthe called
3. Absente

very low thujone in any of them.  I have only tried Lucid, but the liquor store across the street has the Kubler which I plan on getting.  The Lucid made me feel very mellow and it gives me great dreams.  Don't feel like I've been drinking the next morning.  I prepare it French style since it does have a louche.  The Kubler doesn't louche so probably is better to serve Czech style.

I've never tried absinthe either, but it's basically a highly alcoholic drink with various herbs added (especially wormwood) to enhance the mind-altering effect.

Sounds like pretty crazy stuff.

There actually is separate area for this kind of thing, but we demoted it to a child board due to its inactivity in the past.

As there is a full-on tour ahead, maybe it's time to make it a regular section again?
