I can't take any credit for this, but I am sure you will get a laugh out of it.
It is taken from another forum that took it from another forum etc. etc.
Create an album cover as follows:
Band name: Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random Take the title of the first article you get.
Album title: Go to the Random Quotations page.
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 Take the last four words of the last quote.
Cover picture: Go to Flickr's Interesting photo page.
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
Third picture, no matter what it is.
Put it all together to make your album. Either crop it to CD cover shape (i.e. square), add a border to make it square, or just use the raw image itself and pretend it's a funny-shaped cassette or something. The only rule is you're only allowed to add the album title and artist title.
If you're unhappy with either the name, title or picture, by all means refresh all three pages and try again. No picking and choosing though.
For bonus points, describe the act.
Here's one I prepared earlier to show you the sort of thing that can be done.

After his acrimonious split from Latin jazz legends El Polaco, Roberto Goyeneche brings us I Always Found Them.
And his ex-bandmates will probably be a little peeved at letting him out of their clutches so easily.
With silvery strings swooshing over tracks such as "I Always Found Them" & the incessant percussive noise that is "Things That Matter", Roberto is taking it to them for sure.
The modern jazz legend may have just been born.
But, as always, Roberto has a surprise up his sleeve with a 20 minute jazz oddessy version of the timeless Sisters Of Mercy classic, "Never Land".
Hotly tipped to be the first single from the album with rumours abound that it will be backed by an accapello version of his heroes' other classic, "You Could Be The One".
Simply stuffing it to the miserable goits in El Polaco.
Long may he continue to honour the memory of late 80's Goth in his own inimitable way.

Mixed reactions to Song Cycle's second album, To See The Good. Created in only three days, thanks to a near-fatal indulgence in LSD, Merlot, and reruns of My Little Pony, this supposed nine-track opus repeats track one as track four, and track nine is merely the sound of Rodney Hillfriegger (synth and vocals) retching. Song Cycle's approach can be roughly compared to Sigur Ros pumped full of nitrous oxide and attempting to cover Californian deathrock whilst strapped to the wing of a 747 cruising at 30,000 feet.
Widely celebrated amongst the faux-new wave-anachronists culture, To See The Good has not achieved recognition in the mainstream - and is unlikely to, as nearly all production copies have been bought by the US Military as part of it's Aural Warfare program, and the sixteen members of Song Cycle have all been incarcerated in The Hague for multiple violations of basic Human Rights and the Geneva convention.
Epic.
Neat! I'm not up for writing a "review" today, but here's my masterpiece.... I got a pretty cool one, it actually looks like something you'd find in a record store, the unknown, "cultured", kind of pretentious stuff I used to be attracted to many years ago...
Can you see it or is it too tiny??
Oxydoras -- Side of a Brimming Mind
oops, that's five words....Should have been "Of a Brimming Mind".... works just as well I'd say!

Brilliant.
I wrote a short review
With a quiet hissing sound, Oxydoras seep under the door with their 3rd double LP in as many months.
One of the most prolific, post-punk, prog-synth, ballad band the world has ever known have produced yet another soudscape for us that will eat it's way into your head, your fridge & possibly your bank account(s).
Starting with the title track, Side Of A Brimming Mind is a heady trip back to those good old days of 2007 when fcuk all mattered, except to old people.
Track 2 is a 45 minute journey through the seedy world of life in the midlands of England.
Entitled "Birmingham" it is not likly to get too much airplay, but deserves more than just that.
Track to download: Birmingham (if you have the bandwidth). But if you don't want to write a review, no worries. There are plenty of folks around who can add one for you if need be. :-D
Perfect! :smth023
You should write for a music mag.... It often seems that they've hardly listened to some of the records before writing the reviews, anyway...
From now on I will list Oxydoras among my favorite artists and see if someone claims to know them.

Do It. :-D
Edit: Even better. Get T-shirts printed. :-D
Here's my attemt.

About the band:
Can't say much about this band. They just started out! Only been gigging together for a a little over a year. This is their debut album and they plan to tour to promote it. Just the East Coast for now, but by next summer a full tour of the nation is planned. They have many influnces, but consider their main influence to be the German group, Rammstein. They do attemt a Reimstein cover of "Heirate Mich". Sadly, no one in the band understands German, thus making their cover totally one of a kind.
Album review:
Sorry.... can't do a review. Album has been delayed! Ugh! Damn record companies...

That picture is ace. :smth023
ok...I've got it all ready, but how do I get the album name etc onto my picture? I'm so sorry for being such a loser when it comes to doing this sort of thing, but I want to join in and can't figure it out... :smth089 :smth090

You got any photo editor software or paint?
Or, I think if you patse the picture into a word document or ppt slide, you can add text boxes (that's what I'm doing.
Then you highlight the whole lot, right click & make all the objects a "group".
Then you can save the image as a picture (jpg) that has the writing on it.
Good luck
Excellent idea... ;) but will try to work it all out tomorrow.. I have so many things on my mind, A marriage proposal, :smth087 :smth023 :-D , and trying to get used to new reading glasses!!
I also have to work out how to do this... I hope it is easier than it seems!! :smth020 :smth017
love the Oxydorus Robiola!! I am a huge fan too!! :P

Waakirchen is a german New Wave/Post-Punk band spanning from 1981-1989 and earning little-to-no recognition despite having released five albums over the course of the decade. The band started out as a post-punk band in the same realm as Echo and the Bunnymen, Joy Division, Gang Of Four, and Magazine, but soon shifted into a more synthpop-heavy sound along with the addition of a new member in the early 80s.
Waakirchen's fourth LP, "Blame None But Himself", released in 1988, marked the downfall of New Wave as a mainstream genre. Due to the death of the original drummer, a 1982 Roland drum machine, the band went it's seperate ways and persued solo careers, all of which failed miserably.
This album chronicles the band at its high point, which unfortunately wasn't high enough to make it anywhere on the charts.

not that bad... funny game! thats not my last post in here!!
@all.
I am proud of you. :smth023
here's a band i discovered while having my morning coffee here.
please note that they're not to be confused with "the good old" Michael Schenker Group (MSG).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Schenker_Group
no no no -everyone should know that SGM stands (of course) for SPEGAZZINI'S GRASS MOUSE.
and they are more on the punk-folk side of things anyway than have anything to do with Scorpions...
i think they might need to consider sacking their art department though.
*edit: i apologize for crossing the rules and taking 5 words instead of 4 for title but it kind of made more sense to me in this case.
Like it Marika.
The rules can be flexible I guess. When I write the reviews I pluck bits out of the random quotes for song titles & try to use some of the Wiki info about the band if poss.
The imagination that has gone into these is brilliant.
:-D
This is one I got from another friend, but it goes to show that the strangest of pics can make for a good cover
(http://toddkneedy.com:8000/sinnie_stuff/odong_latek.jpg)
Infamous Lollapalooza darlings Odong Latek unleash another torrent of foul-mouthed, metal-funk-groove mayhem. What could pass for the soundtrack to a depraved 4 am pool party hosted by Marilyn Manson and gatecrashed by Primus and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this one should be played loud, kids - but wait 'til Mum's gone to the hair dresser!
Track to download: "Sometimes It Is Harder"
I've been having a hoot with this. Already made around 7 albums :-D Here's one of my favorites.

While trolling through your local record shop's indie bin, be sure to check out this gem from up-and-comers Turkish Revenge Brigade and do as the title implies, Give It A Try. You'll find yourself in the presence of irresistible, garage-bred rock on the group's blissed-out four-song debut EP. Fun as hell, and superbly crafted, Give It A Try easily leaves listeners clamoring for more, making word that there's a full-length in the band's future superb news for those in need of additional manic pop thrills.
Can I do another? This is really fun!!! 8)
i won't post a series, but this pic i got just made me laugh.
this must be the 3rd album by the semi-legendary(?) art-rock trio GORHAM'S DISEASE (formerly known as Idiopathic Massive Osteolysis).
sorry for the lack of background info but to be honest i've really no idea what they sound like as i'd simply be too damn frightened to pick up anything with moz's face on it.
maybe someone else can give it a listen. or maybe not.
(something tells me they might share the record label/art direction with the abovementioned SGM.)

After mild success with thier fist album (We Are Tools), largely due to the minor club hit of the same name, this not-so "super" group comprised of Fred Durst (Limp Biskit), Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), and Gerard Way (MCR) are back with their sophomore album; Playful, Rebelious, and Immature. You are not alone in asking yourself "why?". Lending their talents to the Pleasure Island Family Theme Park camp this time around are none other than Del tha Funkee Homosapien and mixmaster/producer Danger Mouse. Not even guest appearances by Eminem, Cee-Lo, Damon Albarn, and William Shatner can save this trainwreck of a project. The first single from the album, My Butthole Hurts , was origianlly to have been included on the Myspace Christmas sampler, however it was pulled for reasons not yet made public.

Following her debut album titled " Too much coffee", this post-latin moaner has once again proven that maybe she should be put to sleep. Phakisa Dirtiworde
( yes that is her real name) attributes her musical talents to her parents, Shitina Bucket and Dikisa Dirtiworde, even though no talent shines through whatsoever.

After creating a buzz during last year's SXSW music festival with their not-to-be-missed live show, .303 British landed a mainstage slot on the Taste of Chaos Tour later in the year. All this without even putting out a proper album! It was during the Chaos tour where they hooked up with Ross Robinson, who "got out" of working with The Cure in order to produce the French-Candian trio's highly anticipated debut. Make Today Worth Remembering ranges from indie rock to dream pop to, of course, nu metal, as you'd expect with any Robinson production. Highs are the moody Smashing Pumpkins-esque MVR, a song depicting the life of famed Red Baron flying ace, Manfred von Richthofen, who was shot down by a .303 round (in which the band gets it's name) and the title track, Make Today Worth Remembering, which draws comparisons to Chino Moreno side project, Team Sleep. All in all, this first offering from .303 British is listenable, but leaves me wanting more. The emotion and energy these guys put worth on stage doesn't translate to the studio. Buy the album, don't buy the album. These up and comers don't really care (most young artists don't as they are under poor contracts that net them very little, if any, money). DO see them when they pass through your city. Tickets for a short club tour with prog outfit, The Mars Volta, are selling out fast. Coachella, Lollapolooza, as well as a handful of Euro festivals are slated for later in the summer.

Once known for filling arenas, aging 80s icons Goi Station have reunited for a farewell tour to support their recent greatest hits album, To Make You Happy. Long gone are the days of Madison Square Garden and Wembley. This time out they'll be lucky to fill the reserved sections of the wineries they're due to play. My suggestion for those wishing to relive your high school days, save a few dollars, grab a blanket, and stretch out on the grass in general admission. There will be PLENTY of room.
You are all amazing. I have been laughing since I logged in. :smth023
@CV. Post as many as you like.

Leading the field in the post-Slint post-rock post-consciousness, Riverbank State Park return with this, their 17th album in 9 years. Band leader and vocalist Mark Wyjoczklty (who also plays all instruments, aside from drums) crafts an aural sculpture as steely and cold as a cold steel bathtub, while Steve Albini's production is characteristically dry as a bone. Described as a personal odyssey through the emotional landscapes of the 21st century American mid-west, the 23 songs on side 1 document the collapse of trust in the modern age in a harrowing 15 minutes. The remaining song on the album, the 63 minute instrumental "Bombie the Zombie", which stretches over sides 2, 3 and 4 (with the final part of it being included on a 7" single contained only in a special limited pressing of the first 1000 LPs) chronicles the aftermath of the post-industrial mind, a world in which individuality is suppressed in favour of the new hive mentality.

The new U2?
Not really. Pelan are another Irish "also ran" on the scene & this first platter from the Emerald Isle based quintet is both weak & soul-less (not unlike a James Blunt record).
With subject matter ranging from the EU butter mountain to what colour pants can be washed with white t-shirts, this effort is dull in the extreme.
Frontman Brendan Shennanigan simply hasn't got the range to carry off many of the tracks & ought to have a serious discussion with songwriter, Keiran Blarney about which key to use before venturing into the studio again (god forbid).
One bright point of the album is Rory McGuiness' tambourine solo on the anti rambler anthem, "Get Orf My Land!".
Other than that, this is a disc that will vanish from the shelves of your local corner shop & bypass the bargain bucket instantly.
Let's hope someone can recycle CDs, as this piece of sh!t is coming that way.
wow this is addictive!! everyone is so talented!! Absolutelty hilarious! :P
I'm sorry mine was so short and lacking a proper review, but by the time my son helped me actually put it alll together, I was pooped! :smth100

After the lukewarm reception to their debut album, Pharmas Nokturns, Lithuanian 3-piece Lovely By Surprise spent 2 long years in the studio working on a follow up. Was it worth it, pop-pickers? Not 'arf! Of a Balanced Diet opens with with cool strings and a hypnotic jazz-like beat, lulling the the listener into a false sense of security before Lorelei Svingeborgen's glass-shattering vocals smash their way through the cerebral cortex with the subtlety and enthusiasm of Jack Regan delivering a kicking to a villain. The title track, which stormed into the charts this week at number 7, thrashes and writhes like a wounded beast, well aided by one-time Kristianstaat Irregulars axe-man Torsten B'lokskratcha's clashing fretwork.
This is an album to be reckoned with - my mate Tony who works on the bins reckons that one listen to it will have you strangling your cat by tea-time.
This one, surprisingly, just happened to make very much sense. The picture and the album title mysteriously fit together...

The Ricketts Baronets - "Shots You Never Take" (1992)
This East Manhattan grunge band got their big start with the single, "Shots You Never Take", a five-minute long anthem that booted them into star status.
The roots of the band can be traced back to the group "The Housecats", formed by the high school friends of lead singer Al Smithee in the late 1980s. After a fairly long stint, the group was renamed "The Ricketts Baronets" after the departure of the rest of the bandmates, one of whom went on to form the more popular "Nirvana".
After rapidly switching record contracts and losing his home, Smithee decided to quit his own band, leaving the rest of the group to work on their own. The band recorded three more LPs and then broke up for good, stating "I'm not sure how many people actually like full-album instrumentals...it's kind of hard to find lyrics for songs with no words..."
Here is the album cover, complete with the stain from a years-old sticker pricing. (The marking reads "99 cents").
OOps...killed it.
bump!!

Finnish dead metal combo Thiara were thought to have lived up to their musical style, and pronounced dead by press and fans back in 1989 when they delivered their third strike of ingenuity "Red skies over HIM". But as the game of monkey see monkey do lead to sheer tons of followers, claiming to have invented polar metal - which is in fact power metal pronounced with a heavy finnish accent - it was time for Thiara to set the records straight. And their record does.
As times have changed, even for our finnish hang bang posse, the comeback album takes on another course from where they left off back in the haydays of Bon Jovi and Guns 'n Roses. "Safe, expedient and thin" is a musical indictment to the current rock scene with its lack of courage, innovation and experiment. Guitar breaks are cut down to the bone and intermingled with samples of Nokia adds, twisted Botnic soundclips and "saunds", as they named their recordings of hissing sauna sounds. This is not only mandatory material for oldskool brain wreckers, also you, dear reader of Barbie Collector Magazine, should crack your daddy's iTunes account and download this. In full!
