I have been always curious about. In my case, my name is David Sánchez, and I have an email from University with dsanchez@...so that's the reason. Very creative, eh :D
What about yours?
Mine comes from the band: Belle And Sebastian
Their first album is called tigermilk and it's a wonderful record.
Plus, I like cats and milk, so it's the perfect name for me! :P
mine is from the german band lacrimosa... one of my favourites!!
mine comes from the Disney's animated movie 'The Aristocats'... one of the coolest cats was called "scatcat", who had a band of swinging jazz cats in the alley.. :smth023
A motor racing buddy of mine started calling me "sues" when I started racing and I have many fond memories of my time racing....and the 777? Well, as the Pixies say, "if the devil is 6, then God is 7..." - I just like the number 7..
Well, it's just my name actually
However, on many other sites, including the heartland forum I have to register as Pista because Steve is usually taken (dead common name huh?).
Pista (pronounced Pishta)is the Hungarian equivalent of Steve.
I even on dime have to modify that to pistabacsi (pronounced pishta bachi) which effectively means uncle steve.
:-D
I don't like using my real name (Roberta), especially because I hate how people pronounced it when I lived in the States (Row-burr-dah, sounds a little like someone barfing), and I remembered that when I was a child my mom affectionally called me Robiola or Robiolina when we were joking around.
Only many years after my mom stopped calling me that did I find out that robiola is also a kind of soft cheese not unlike cream cheese.... But I was already fond of the nickname, so.... So I've named my curefans persona after a cheese apparently? Never actually thought of it that way. That's just plain embarrassing.
I was called a freak, once, for liking The Cure.

@sues777... ur avatar is changed? or is everybody just messing with me !!?? *paranoia*... were u not a cat before? (please say yes) :smth100
well, mine is boringly stolen from a certain song you might all know.
although at the time i picked it, i was very close to becoming 'the howling woman' at first. because i sort of thought that might describe me a lot better than some exotic babe-thing.
of course the cure folks always get my name - but a bit embarrassingly, some non-cure people seem to think it's something soft-porn related or some lolita thing or something...
uuuh maybe i should have become the howling one so there would be no damn confusion!

@JB... way cool!!!
I think the meaning of my name is selfexplanitory. ;)
Why did I choose it?? Um, it was created years ago in MSN Cure Chat. Me and some girls were just goofing off making up names. I thought of mine and one of them dared me to register it at MSN. It was accepted and I though it was a slutty name but, it did let everyone know, without doubt, who my favorite member is.
my nick is boring "drowning man" one of my fav. cure songs off all time.
and it´s how i felt somedays. drowning in a pool of emotions, feelings......
lost alone in a happy crowd.....
Let's see...my name is Jeff. J id the first letter of my name. Actually, J was my nickname that my high school hockey team gave me, and it stuck through college. I got lucky in that respect. Hockey players have this rather stupid way of nicknaming everyone, usually by adding y to the end. Keith Jones= Jonesy. SO I guess J is better than Jeffy.
Dime wouldn't let me use J as my username, so I used natas43. Satan spelled backwards (and also a skateboarder from back in the day- Natas Kaupas- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natas_Kaupas ). And 43 was my hockey number my entire career.
I do hope ZZTOPSMYBUTTLOVERS posts.
You don't believe me? Check the members list. ;)
Tof is because my name is Christophe and all my friend call me Tof !!!
Very creative too :-D
MY REAL NAME IS JANKO
Hero is a character from Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' which i'm studying at school and i was doing homework when i registered :?
I usually go for Lufus which has seemed to have replaced my real name but i felt like a change.
Ha ha, JB! :-D
From now on I shall call you the howling woman, I love it. Or maybe howler, for short
I think japanesebaby is a nice nickname :)
Okay, it's obvious where i got my nickname from :)
It's from the song Before Three, because i love the line: ... "But winter moon
and silver sand, this perfect night in another land ...".
The only difference is that it's written in one word.

It's ok scatcat - I changed my avatar...yes, I was a cat before ('twas my boy cat Leroy - my girl cat started feeling left out).

Hey drowning - I don't think your nickname is boring at all and your reasons behind it certainly aren't boring!! I actually considered "something-beginning-with-s" but feared it was a little long....
I'm with the "very creative group"... my name is Guadalupe, Pita is like "little Guadalupe" (Guadalupita)... my friends and family call me that way... so my nickname is my name

No offense Pita, but my grandfather used to call me that when I was younger. When I was about 12, I finally asked him why. He explained what pita stands for:
Pain
In
The
Ass.
Thanks for bringing back fond memories of a great man in my youth!! :smth023

:smth044 If my friends knew that they'd say that it's a perfect nickname for me
Several years ago on Compuserve, AOL, and a few other networks I used to sign off with goofy names that incorporated my last name. A few favorites...The Pilsbury Crowboy, Shaquielle Cro'Neil, The Marlborcrow Man, Crowhammed Ali, and Crowbi-wan Kenobi. Crowbi-wan just stuck when I opened an e-mail account on Yahoo some time ago. People have been calling me Crowbi for years now. And actually, it sort of makes sense. Take my last name, Crow, and add the first letter of my first name, B, and there you go ;)
i am called Carnage Visor because:
1. I love the word CARNAGE...makes me think of corpses and destruction.
2. I love the 30 minute song by The Cure with the same name. It really moves me, and I think it's mysterious and lull enough to kind of numb the mind and make you daydream. Put it on in the room, it's just kind of there, you know? It's the theme song to my depression, my thoughts, my dreams. And it has no words, but still speaks to me.
I decided it sounded like a catchy name, one people could remember, contains no symbols or numbers, and displays well on a forum.
I love your last name, crowbi-wan. Crow is an awesome last name! :smth020

Thanks. I like my last name as well ;) Like a lot of immigrants, my German ancestors shortened their last name when they came to America. Not sure what the original name was, but I was led to believe it began with Krau.

..how bout 'iwannashagblondesimon' :-D
For my own nickname, as you guys know thats where our beloved band originated.
At the first stage, i thought i wanna pick some flamboyant nick but after all i couldn't think of any.
So I'm thinking it is good to pick some simple and The Cure related nick. Then when i remember reading The Cure wikipedia, SUSSEX just pop up in my mind. Then i just love the nick!
But somehow here in my country, not many people take the name as a name of a place but in an instance they usually lead the name to such pornography thing, just because the word 'sex'. What a mind setting! :smth011
p/s : David, this is really a great threat!
Oh Sussex, I agree!
People can be so crass* sometimes (for instance, laughing everytime they hear the words "teabag", "lubricant", or answer every question with: "Your mom!")...
I dig your nickname, it's short and sweet! "Sussex", never once thought of it as being provocative. People should really learn their geography! :-D
Is it not pronounced "Su-six?" That surely would avoid further confusion... :)
*Crass is also an awesome punk rock band. Just thought I'd mention.

Haha..you're right CV. People should learn more bout their Geography. Actually i love when people think pro actively about my nickname. What I know is that, it is something to do with The Cure! :!:
My nick originates from a strange manner of speaking the initials of my complete name... JDS... it sounds like "JAYDS" or "JAIZ", and then "JOEZ" (in italian we write "gioez". Well, this nick was created by my school-friends, isn't my idea! ;)

Well, thank goodness. I'd hate to be known as "the woman who goes by the name of that
revolting cheese". Now I can just be "the fool who named herself after a cheese", it's much better.

I'm not a cheese person, so I never would have known you were named for a type of cheese...
I always assumed it was like "Rob" for Robert Smith and "iola" for something else...never really thought of it. I think you all have great names, unlike some names I've seen on other forums like "

with all those internet lingo symbols thrown in there (I'm of this new internet generation and I still do not understand it!)
Roberta is a nice name, don't be shy! :)
melly..well, obviously it hasn't got any "Cure" connotations, but it's my real nick name, all our friends call me melly, and their kids. My partner started calling me this many years ago, from the word "melee", you know, a small fracas, a bit if a rumble happenin'.... he would tell you it comes from smelly, which isn't very nice, is it?! haha... kind of carries on from when I was a teenager, being tall with long legs, my Dad used to call me Nol...Noise On Legs....
so, nothing exoctic or secretive, just melly...and it sounds odd when people call me by my real name, Heather!!
my nickname came out when i submitted my membership in Heartland....i was thinking about something like "argonaut", as the ancient greek-sailors and i got lightened by one of my favourite Nephilim songs....PSYCHONAUT....i only was wrong writing it...psichonaut....and from that era my nick on every site is this
Joqua is what my dad used to call me when i was younger.
Well; mine (rubcure) part of my name Rubén and Cure; very creative isn´t? :-D
i chose 'christen-in-blood' because it comes from one of The Cure's greatest songs, Faith.
mine is hard to explain...i tried with lacrimamosa and yves28 and steve, but i'm not sure they understood :-D
erpomata is a character in an italian cultmovie, mostly in roma, called "febbre da cavallo". er is the roman form for the italian article il, pomata is that particular medicine cream, for muscles or so... the character has greasy hair with gel, so they call him er pomata, the cream, or something similar...puff pant! hard to say! in roma it's absolutely normal to have a nickname! but i don't have greasy hair...actually i have little over my head :-D i like that movie
"Lady" is a simple word, but it's very used in the songs (how many songs you can find with the word "lady" in the text? "Foxy lady" by Hendrix or "lady writer" by dire straits and many more!! ;)) and it makes me think of someone "special", as the "first lady".
I'm Lady Vox in a u2fans forum!! :-D
There are some GREAT nicknames/ID's in here... I have to give kudos to scatcat and Carnage Visor for their ones! (I'm so pissed I didn't think of carnage visor first!! hehehe)
Well as for mine, I have a pair of Doc Marten cherryred boots, that I wear constantly (except for in bed... oh, well when I'm compus-mentus enough to take them off!!!)... so there you have it!
