Good thing they added this show.
I was feeling really sorry for those California folks, having only 4 shows this year.
God forbid anyone from Los Angeles would have to drive 90 more miles to Santa Barbara to see a second show.

I got screwed out of Radiohead tickets this last weekend, so I'll make a play for these, I think, now that I've got some extra cash. (Save it? What do you mean, Save it?)

Isn't RH playing two shows at the Hollywood Bowl? No luck with a ticket? Oh wait, you must be talking about the SB County Bowl. Damn scalpers are getting fast these days :smth011 Hopefully you have better luck with The Cure.

Scalpers grabbed everything -- Hollywood and SB Bowls. A friend of a friend got six SB tickets just to scalp them. If I ever meet him, he might lose an arm.
A small(ish) Cure gig would be a decent supernatural quid pro quo, however.... Though, truth be told, I'd rather go see one Radiohead and one Cure show than two Cure shows. As so many of you who have seen The Cure many times know well, familiarity breeds contempt (Boys Don't Cry, anyone?).
For any doubters, the show has been added to the events page on the official site and ticketmaster.

My birthday is Saturday and if I can snag a pit ticket for this show, I swear, I'll never ever want another birthday present EVER. I'm so glad to see some effort being made to keep the scalpers at bay.
If pit's full it looks like any seat in the house is a great one, though. Has anyone here ever gone to 5 shows in a week and survived?
good luck with tickets Plainsong!

that's a really nice looking theater, atmospheric.
i just hope the band's live sound will turn out ok in small theater venues like this. gasometer in wien was the smallest venue on the euro tour, not a theater but certainly pretty intimate compared to most other venues. i was really looking forward to that gig for that reason alone - yet the sound was a huge disappointment to me: definitely the worst sound on all of the gigs that i saw.
they sounded a lot lot better on all large venues.

OK, surely I can muster up the stamina for this! If the shows are as long as they were in Europe I'm going to be wiped out, but it'll be worth it--and I can sleep for a couple of days when I get home!

Yes, I'm a crazy crazy man. Someone please remind me to get some Dr.Scholl's shoe inserts before the 20th
PIT ticket for me :D
At first I used the KROQ password and was getting third level balcony :?
I switched to the fanclub password and got a pit ticket. Complete opposite of presales in the past. They should have been doing this all along, offering the best seats to the fans. Actually, Red Rocks was like this, but I think that was the only other one. I just feel bad for those that are having to fork over $300-500 to get close to the band.
Hopefully some other fans here were successful getting the spot they wanted. Good luck to those still trying.

What are these tickets that just specify ORCH with no rows? Because I have one of those too. (I went back and tried again just to see it PIT came up. Maybe I have two kinds of pit tickets?)
Ticketmaster is not being very helpful explaining the difference.

PIT comes up as PIT and is located in the section labeled "ORCHESTRA" on the pic I uploaded (see above). If you have an ORCH ticket you are located in one of the ORCH sections. Log back in to your TM account, you should be able to see your seat now that the ticket has been purchased. Yeah, it's pretty crazy that TM was offering the section, then you have to buy the ticket before you know your exact seat. :? That's just how it is. Hopefully you got a good spot.
Yeah, I finally figured it out. Now I have one pit ticket, and one ORCH row A seat 24! I'm glad I kept trying but at $100 a pop that was an expensive lesson to learn.
Well, if it sells out I'm sitting on a gold mine with that row A seat.
Quote from: Plainsong on April 18, 2008, 20:51:40

Yeah, there's a pair in ORCH row A going for $799  But hey, don't let us hear that you're scalping it. Why not hook up a true fan and sell it for face value? ;)
Don't worry--I could never in good conscience scalp a Cure ticket! I even gave away my comp ticket to Curiosa so I could use the pit ticket I'd bought for the show and some random guy on the lawn got to sit a lot closer as a result. I like to build good music karma. :) So I won't do anything shady!
EDIT: I was able to get Ticketmaster to refund my extra ticket. If you want a GREAT seat for this show (row A seat 24!) it should be back on the site now. Get it before the presale ends!
Tried to get presale tickets for this, but I had school, so I [stupidly] left the task to another, who couldn't find any tickets. Seeing this, I have to be suspicious of that.
I'm hoping to go see this with a friend of mine. I guess that all depends on how things go twenty minutes from now. I'm nervous. Last time this happened (Radiohead), I got screwed lubelessly. I'll probably go mad if that happens again. Start talking to trees....

There should be some good stuff available today. They never give out all of the good spots during presales. If you get offered some crap seat, try again. Also, be specific with the options they give you (price, location). Actually, just enter the price ($82) and don't waste your time selecting location. Those precious seconds could prove fatal. Selecting $82 will let the system know you want pit or orchestra. Good luck! 4 minutes to go.
I got tickets. They're not great, but I was doing this on two laptops, and tickets wouldn't pop up after these. And I don't want to take my chances.
Orchestra 30, seats 57-59 (which I find bizarre; three seats, but I bought two tickets....).
I've got pit for SB, though, so I won't complain too much.

Row 30 isn't bad. I'm guessing that you'll be centered, just in front of the balcony. Should be a pretty sweet spot.
I just noticed random ORCH seats are coming up when using the price only selection. Using best available gets you Balcony C. :? I'll never understand TM

The Gasometer was the lone intimate Euro show, right? I mean they played mostly arenas. It's too bad the sound was poor, but not surprising considering. Maybe they just got in late and didn't get to do a proper soundcheck? Hopefully it's not some trend that their crew just leaves the settings the same regardless of the venue. In the U.S., they're playing a wide variety of venues (basketball arenas, small theaters, large theaters, small and large amphitheatres, half-house arenas). I'm pretty sure the sound will be just fine in most places.

Is there anyone who's going to this show and the Bowl show who's staying at one of the hotels right by the Bowl?
I'm going to this show solo and won't have access to a car so if anyone's driving back to Hollywood afterwards and wants a few bucks for gas...and isn't a serial killer...otherwise I'll cab it back to the hotel but I figured I'd ask around for a ride first!
Has anyone seen a show at the shrine and vouch for decent sound?
I've read that after the renovation the sound had improved greatly. I'd assume that if you're sitting in the back half of the lower section (under the balcony) you're prone to any echoes slamming right down on top of you, making the mix appear muddy.

Yes, it's only one song, but please don't spread this around other forums in lossy formats such as mp3. I don't mind if you want to convert it and put it on your ipods or whatever.
ENJOY!
I should add that this is the raw data w/ a bit of a level boost. Being that I'm listening to this through some crappy headphones in my hotel room I didn't even want to attempt any equalizing. Hopefully, the quality isn't too bad. I was standing up against the rail directly in front of Porl, or at least where Porl would have been had he come out for this song. Most of what I was picking up was coming from amps and monitors, not the PA.

Not much of Simon in there due to a security guard being in my way. There are a few shots of him in his furry hat signing autographs prior to the show.
Nice story about him coming over to us. When Simon arrived, there was a small group of fans waiting just outside the Band/VIP/Crew entrance. As the guard was checking the credentials of the chauffeur, Simon acknowledged us and let us know he'd come back over once parked. As he made his way over, we all wished him a Happy Birthday. One fan was holding up a Top record that caught Simon's eye. He said something like "Oh, not that one" He ended up signing several autographs all the while saying he needed to get inside to the soundcheck. VERY nice of him to meet all of us. Porl arrived right after Simon and just headed right in. Next, Robert and Jason arrived on a tour bus. We shouted at them, but they didn't feel like saying hello or anything. Oh well, just one more reason why I think Simon rocks :rocker Happy birthday, dude!
Wow...Faith...thanks a lot for this treasure, Brian. You are :smth023

Ah, no, David -- Robert sang "Happy birthday, dear Simon" over and over as Faith extra lyrics. After that, he started to sing the opening lines to 2 Late. "I'll wait for you...."
Plainsong says that Robert cried through the whole song. I was too far back to see, and you couldn't hear it in his voice, but I'll take her word for it; she was right up there in the pit.
And "No Porl" means that he was on stage for the very start of the song, then walked off. I wasn't sure if it was maybe a technical problem or something, but he never came back. It got me thinking of what this band could be like as a three-piece again. Made me happy and sad on the inside.
Amazing show, amazing Faith. One of the best nights of my life.
Unforgettable.
I can't help but feel a slight bit disappointed for not getting the 4 song Faith encore or some of those other songs that are on the master song list, but this was a damn fine show. It's hard to complain about this one, so I won't any further. A really fun show with several songs that hadn't been played since Europe or maybe once on the East Coast. The selection was just a nice blend that had something for everyone. Baby Screams sounded somewhat unrehearsed, but still rocked. Let's hope they continue to play this one as the tour rolls on. Such a great live track. Same for How Beautiful. I know some people have been disappointed that it didn't get played earlier as it should have been. Elise, Catch, and Unstuck have been the rotation. Maybe playing these songs tonight and seeing the reaction will get them in more sets. If not, there's always Radio City.
Ugh, one more show to go. What a ride it's been.
A f*cking religious experience. That's what tonight [last night!?] was.
I wish we'd gotten the full Faith encore, but you know, that version of Faith tonight was so damn incredible, I forgive it completely.
Happy birthday, dear Simon....
Some people were curious about the pit for this one. 80 people. That was it! I'm sure they could have let more in, but what a lucky bunch we were. Security was doing a good job of checking wrist bands, at least prior to the start of the show. Not sure if some fans worked their way in, but it didn't seem overly crowded down there.
The Old School encore seemed to be the favorite portion of the show for the people around me. Lots of jumping up and down during FIC -> Grinding Halt. The floor was getting pretty bouncy for a bit there :rocker And I'm so glad they played the full Old School encore. 3IB and FIC make that one. It works w/o them, but it's just not the same.
Before 3IB, Robert said "Simon would like to dedicate the next song to Lol and Michael. Says he can play it much better (than them?)". He trailed off at the end, but that's what it sounded like to my ears.
Happy for you guys, it looks like it was an amazing show!!!! :smth023
I've always thought "out of this world" as opening song was a great experience! :smth049
I will never understand the ability of the old school encore to make the crowd go nuts. I mean, casuals can't know more than two or three songs in it. Right? BDC, JSET, and either 10.15 or KAA [but for some reason I doubt they'd know both]. They went absolutely NUTS during that encore, and I don't know why. Not complaining, certainly, but I am perplexed.
From the Edge does the same thing, by the way. Lots of people with their hands in the sky tonight; I guess that might mean there were fewer casuals about than I thought?
f*cking excellent show.
I think it's just that it's played a) right at the end when everyone knows they won't get any more so they should enjoy this NOW!
and b) it's just played with such energy and impact that how could anyone possibly sit still? :D
When I saw them in Sydney/Melbourne I had gotten around to collecting every album except 3IB, but that swiftly changed after hearing those songs live!
Sounds like such a fantastic show, great to hear all the positive reviews from all the gigs!
Yeah, what a great show!! best show in the USA, no doubt, and maybe the best of the tour! just Faith, Bloodflowers and How beautiful made it amazing :) Out of this world is a nice surprise, hope they play it more (with the Adagio before it, of course)
I don't find surprising Porl left during Faith, if I remember well he did the same in Rotterdam...
Great setlist!
fantastic setlist, hope a recording of this one will surface soon :D
nice...!
Amazing....
Incredible Show. Instead the first part of it, With Adagio and OOTW, Bloodlfowers..
WOW
Three imaginary boys and FAITH!!!!
Thanks to crowby_wan to share so quickly this faith version and the pics...

I can't help but feel a slight bit disappointed for not getting the 4 song Faith encore or some of those other songs that are on the master song list
whatever i do to make it real - never enough(?)
(
one more time to kill...)
Thanks for Faith, BC. Fantastic sound! :smth023

Yeah, yeah. I know. It's just my expectations were so high. Believe me, I loved every minute of that show.
but...
I'm always wanting more, anything I haven't got, everything I want it all
wow.. sounds like an amazing concert.. :smth023
thanx crowbi_wan!
was i reading correctly.. no Porl in the final song?.. David, I feel the same way.. :( maybe the band IS disintegrating. Will it arise again as an awesome foursome after the tour? )
I guess only time will tell. I would miss Porl.
Porl doesn't play anything during Faith. There's nothing wrong with him. Rather than stand on the stage and do nothing for 10 minutes he decided to stand off stage. Can you blame him? Three hours in those ruby red sparklers must kill! :P
:-D hehe.. somewhere along the line, I've missed the ruby red sparklers.! ;)

what happened after alt.end? :?:
Sorry, I was unable to use the computer for a while :?
That's why some of Bloodflower's info was posted from my mobile. Thanks again to him for the coverage! Just one question: this 2Late lyrics were sung alone? and if it's so, should that be included as part of the setlist? (also the happy birthday Simon)?
just re-reading the previous pages.. sounds like a pretty emotional night, what, with Robert getting all soppy over Simon,
( happy birthday to the Gorgeous One :smth020 )
wish i was there. the tour is not long to finish. that's sad enuff!

i don't think those count as songs. *)
if i understood correctly '2 late' lyrics were sung as extra lyrics during 'faith'.
(they'll never play THAT song live...)
*)by the way, just a personal opinion but it often bugs me when partial/only "hinted" songs are included in the set lists. you'd read about it and think "wow, they played that!" and then you listen to it and it's only like 5 seconds or one line or riff = damn.
for instance how many times they've "played" 'fire in cairo' like this, according to "official" set lists? or 'it's not you' - compared to the times they've really played those songs complete.
2 Late was included as extra lyrics to Faith, after Robert sung Happy Birthday to Simon [also as extra lyrics]. You can hear it on Brian's recording. If they were played standalone, you wouldn't have heard from me. I would have died.
I'm still reeling from how great that show last night was. I've been telling people that I consider it a religious experience for an atheist. That's given me some funny looks. And when I mentioned Robert was crying during it, that I felt like crying too, got a little watery-eyed, everyone just looks funny and laughs.
 Oh ye, who, not understanding, mock that which is true, good, and beautiful.

Crowbi, thanks a million for releasing the recording of Faith and for your photos. I see you caught a pic of my favorite Cure security guy. I'm gonna kiss that man the next time I see him ;)
We'll be in FL at the Sunrise show, and gods willing, videotaping the whole thing. We're on Row 6 there.
Wow that sounds like one excellent show! :smth020 Damn I wish I could have been there! Thanks to crowbi_wan & bloodflower for the reviews and crowbi_wan pics & Faith! Great pictures! :smth023
What an amazing set-list. :-D Faith, OOTW, Bloodflowers, Simon's B-day, Robert crying, the crowd in awe, well it can't get any better than that! Makes me want to go see another Cure Show!

Hey j.....Oh I know I should go & I'm sure RCMH will be just as good if not better then the shrine. Been thinking about going the past few weeks but I'm having a serious cash flow problem. So I'm not sure I'll be able to go, too many bills to pay this month!!! :smth100 But maybe if I can swing it in three weeks, I'll make the trip but I'm not counting on it. I've only planned for two shows this tour & I already went to two so I'll just have pass up on any more. You're going right? Well, have a great time! :-D

I've been lurking here for awhile -but reading that just prompted me to get tix from stubhub for RCMH. I'm so excited! I saw the Philly show and it was great, but I'm really looking forward to seeing in them at Radio City. It'll be my husband's first Cure show!
RCMH is looking so good, even I'M thinking of getting tickets.... Despite the airfare, hotel, transportation, et cetera.... Okay, so it's not going to happen. But a dreamless life is unlivable.

Welcome to the site and hope to see you in NYC!
Seems like a wonderful night. I envy all that was there.
Thank you crowbi_wan for the song and those who shared their photos of that night.

I'm still dreaming too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to NYC is not cheap! ;)
Yes Robert cried during Faith...I was only about 6 feet away from him and tears were running down his face...however, there was a security dude right in front of me, so I opted NOT to leap on stage and comfort the poor dear. But I was tempted. ;)
The best of the shows in California by FAR for me. I never in a million years thought I'd get to hear Out of This World and Bloodflowers like that!
This version of Faith seems like it could be a classic especially since it seems to have been so emotional for Robert along with the Happy Birthday Simon part and extra 2 Late lyrics.
Thanks, thanks for this.Faith is fantastic for end concert  :smth023
