I was wondering how other people organize their Cure stuff and how they listen to it? Do you guys use iTunes to catagorize songs or other software?
I used to create playlists related to 'moods' (like depressive, happy, etc.) but that was too time consuming. Sometimes I want to listen to all 'A forest' versions in one evening, especially the ones Robert is improvising...
Anyone knows a good way to organize this?
Thanks,
TT
i guess i'm not a playlist person, i'm an album/show person: so i like listening through complete albums or live shows. shuffle features kind of annoy me, especially when used with live stuff. i guess i did have a kind of "playlist phase" at one time but that was sometimes in the 80s... i used to make all these endless compilation tapes for whatever purposes... and time-consuming, yes it was - i guess i had too much spare time when i was younger and just getting older=busier just naturally solved that "problem".
i'm old-fashioned what comes to listening to official stuff: i simply play cds with a cd player... i don't need anything else.
yet with live shows/live material i'm rather "anti-old-fashioned": i have everything archived in flac on external HDs and i play everything through computer. i never burn cds and have no use for them.
(about i tunes: i never use itunes for anything else than transferring music to my ipod. otherwise i don't see what it could be used for. the same goes with all the other mediaplayers with playlist features - i've no use for them whatsoever.)
(ok i'm aware this probably wasn't very useful to anyone...)
I understand, but still I'm looking for something more than just storing concerts on a hard drive. I want to be able to quickly see what I've got (i.e. search) and to be able to play in a selective way...
Well... maybe I want to much ;-)
I use foobar:

You can have unlimited amounts of playlists open at once in tabs (among a million and one other ways to configure the thing). Here's how I have mine... nice n simple:

Thanks for the info! I'll check that one out!

I use winamp. Out of all the media players I've tried Winamp seems to be the best in terms of not being a resource hog and has an insane amount of customization. I got a plugin that lets me use my ipod with it so i dont even need to open iTunes anymore.
Foobar does an incredible job! It even plays flacs that no other player could play ;-)
Winamp all the way for me. For years I was a proponent of the old version 2.95, but now I'm using version 5.51. After a lot of customization, I have it looking and behaving just like the older versions, but also with the additional benefits/improvement of the newer version.
To someone completely new to Winamp, it may be hard to understand what I mean here. I actually think version 5 is a bit funny the way it's set up by default, but if you go through all the options and tweak it, you can get it to something much better.
I tried Foobar for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I just don't know how people can compare it to Winamp. It's very primitive by comparison. The only thing I like about it is the ABX feature, which is really nice for listening tests.
I used to use Winamp back in the 2.x days too, then it started bloating, and by the time I dropped it during the 3.x stage, it was just another piece of carp software that used to be good.
Perhaps the new versions are back to a decent media player without the bloat, but I'll never know cos I won't use AOL products on principle. ;)
The good thing about foobar is that it can be as light or as heavy as you want it. I've never seen a media player quite as configurable.
in regards to it being basic, well, that's what plug-ins are for I guess, though maybe there's some things that Winamp does that aren't available?
